  1. One year I was completely burned out on cooking Thanksgiving. So we told my husband's family that we were going to be at my daughter's in-laws and told my family that we were going to his daughter's in-laws and we went to a great French restaurant all by ourselves. Didn't get caught and it was one of the best Thanksgiving we ever had.

Or, Different Strokes for different pocketbooks.
  3. Hello from Costa Rica. So nice to see somebody from Columbia joining us. I've only been to Cartagena but I was very impressed with the food of Colombia. I also have met a lot of Colombians here in Costa Rica. All wonderful people. A friend of mine has a Colombian restaurant here and serves mostly just Bocas from there. I must also add that the best bakeries here in Costa Rica are run by Colombians. Do you usually just cook tipico food or are you interested in international recipes? Whatever type of food that you are interested in, you will find it here. You will also find a lot of really great people willing to help you in any way that you need. All you need to do is ask and someone will be there to answer your questions. Welcome aboard.
  4. I don't know if it can be salvaged but maybe next time you might want to try this.
  5. Thank you for sharing this. It makes me very happy to be just small part of your daughter's wedding. Best wishes to her for a beautiful day and a wonderful life.

As I have said before, my husband refused to eat beef stroganoff, absolutely hated it. But. He loved beef with mushrooms, onions, and sour cream gravy.
  7. Are you sure it isn't 'worst recipe of the year'?

@Anna N If you're going to fall down a rabbit hole, try this one.
  9. He doesn't qualify. He's still got empty space.
  10. I just checked in my refrigerators and I have no less than 17 jars of homemade pickles, sauces, mustard, marmalade and dressings. I don't envy @Duvel his jars, I love his organized shelf space.
  11. Just looks like a pretty handy collection to me. Exactly! Can't live without some extra jars. Going to make pickles? Need a couple jars. Make your own mustard? Got to have a jar. Barbecue sauce. Char Sui sauce. Can't live without my jars.
  12. Those edges were deadly sharp and because it was so awkward to open it, it was very easy to cut yourself. I'm sure that I did it more than once.
  13. Good old Spam!
  14. Dead!
  15. Ever heard of a Buffalo Chopper?
  16. We know there's one in there somewhere but we just don't know which one so better put a notice on all of them.

Everything looks so good and would you please comment on these. I went to Mr Google and they don't have anything that looks as good as yours.
  18. Have you considered drastic life-saving measures like take out or Meals on Wheels?
  19. That part got moved to pickled eggs. I hope that this helps. The next time that I make them, I will put the eggs on the top of the jar and the beets on the bottom so that the eggs can be moved around and color more evenly. It didn't affect the taste at all, just the appearance.
  20. And it is always good to know that at least you have a few fingers left to type with.
  21. This may not be nice but I'm glad you had a heart stopping moment. That is exactly how I feel every time I see your name pop up in this thread. I am glad that this time you are really okay.
  22. I would have to check back but I am pretty sure that I'm put them in the brine on Monday which would be 4 days. My favorite topping for these is just a sliced black olive. I think they are less rubbery because they are a little lighter on the vinegar and the sugar than most.

    Pickled eggs

My pickled eggs turned out pretty well. I forgot to stir them so they look kind of polka dot but they are not rubbery. I made deviled eggs from them and they too turned out quite well.
  24. Well I promised pictures and results and here they are. They were in the brine about a day longer then I wanted and I forgot to stir them so they are a bit polka dot but they are still very good and not rubbery. Haven't tried them yet but the deviled eggs look pretty.
