  1. no guys still nothing, to be honest forgot all about it with all the turkey in torquay flying around. waiting on both mine and my mates reply still either way. will rub it in if i get a table of course though.

  3. For me sketch was a restaurant trying to be pg. That failed miserably. Was quite concerned taking my team over after we had eaten at sketch in case we would be disappointed again. I agree wow factor is not the same as el bulli but we left full I left hungry at el bulli but feeling sickly uncomfortable after copius amounts of jellies and fatty items.

  6. had a fantastic meal there yesterday lunch from a la carte and christmas luncheon menu. well worth the journey and 2nd visit from me was as good and exciting as the first. bill was ridiculous and portion sizing was strange as i felt alot of the extra dishes were fillers to justify the price.
  7. marc cant be that bad least you have a population around you. We have turkey and tinsel and blue rinse at the moment and the only time this year when i have been fully staffed have i had so many phone calls from chefs and waiters looking for a job. sods law.

  15. taking my brigade on a sabatical trip to gagnaires in december and they want to buy cook books as well. where is there any food book dedicated shops in central paris open on a monday. all recommendations for other cheffy experiences as well recommended. simon
  16. there has been a few places left out that i have noticed, cotswold house, st martins on the isle, ripleys. i was told its because they never got visited by the inspectors who now work full time for them and not so much reliance on letters from joe public. this is what i was told anyway.
  17. steelite is only available to the trade . some of their stuff is very dated but they also are the distributors of ola crockery which is the el bulli and arzak range and the organics range which tom aikens uses and alan murchison. its not all bad . horses for courses.

  19. hopefully he is coming down to do a chefs luncheon and a open to public dinner. Pr for both him and us and hopefully will lead to a few more chefs coming down this way on chef evenings.
  20. you can only recommend if you have eaten there. i dont believe sat has as yet. Sat hopefully is coming down to torquay in the very near future to do an evening at the elephant.
  21. hi, business is picking up well, weather has helped and new restaurant is ticking over. christian is back from new zealand at the end of may . think he is coming to eastbourne to see old friends simon
  22. we have started the brasserie this week to get us in the swing of things and the restaurant called "the room" will be open from tuesday night. website will be updated hopefully in the next day or two. if you p.m with your fax i can send the menu through regards simon
