Lamby Night / Day Lamb Korma with silverbeet, rice and a cauli broc bake. A teeny tiny lamb and something roll Dry ass biccies - not sure if sweet or savoury... be suprised if sweet. Sausage roll slices Vegetarian Lasagne Pasta Salad - looks like yesterdays with added pesto. Cold Meats I asked if he ate everything for the day food. He said half the pasta was thrown as too full and the lasagne went after a bite - the lasagne may have been good but in his words "sneaky eggplant using assholes" 😂. It's the one veg he just can't do.

Back in the hole. Kicking off with a sweet and sour pork with sweet potato fries, and veg. It has been labelled "Delicious". The next days meals are to be. Sundried Tom, cheese and spinach Pasta salad. Crackers Parmy Coleslaw (looks delish). And a ham and cheese yettobetoastied and a dr defeater. It's raining up there at the moment - coal mines in the rain are not fun and rather grubby. I've just discovered my first 'this being apart thing aint so bad' perk - I'm not washing his gear.

Can you send me your process please if willing? We've (he's) used our smoker like 4 times. Really interested in wood used and leg weights and temps etc (just a how to for newbs if you get me). We buy a ton of butcher or processed ham for school sandwiches. Intrigued.

Tonight Kidlet gets Lamb chop with a greeky lemon garlic oregano etc marinade, cheesy mash potato bake and veges. He is growing. And EATING. The other night he followed his burger with an after dinner snack of... my burger. I'm setting up a savings account for his teenage years.

I cooked 😮. Sorta. I made some beef pucks, smashed them on the BBQ and assembled with american cheese, onion, mustard & ketchup. It's a start. Kids happy not to have a freezer cleaner meal at least.

If a toaster oven is a big glass cupboard that has a heater in it that keeps food at a constant temp (like in a bakery / pie shop / gas station) - then yes. If not ... well we're all going to have to sit down and come up with some universal appliance names because it's getting confusing!

And the winners were: Arancini Balls well done guys. In my defence I have never had them before! After my husbands description of creamy veges in rice deep fried... I might keep that up. Yes, cooking supplies in crib hut are microwave, pie warmer and toastie maker and a fridge. They collect their lunches at the evening meal (or breakky if they are game) and then put chilled stuff in fridge and stuff they want hot in the pie warmer so its warm when they come back to crib hut (eg the arancini balls, frozen lamb etc).

I will pose to my husband the suggestion he does not have an intensive work load. But maybe not whilst he's walking 7-10km on coal a day hauling 20kg boxes of explosive in 47c heat.. 😂. You're are right he's not underground though - wrong on the sweat! 😁.

Oh sorry @Shelby I missed answering the bacon question. It is cooked... a bit. Aussie bacon is 95% (i made that statistic up) dry cured. So its solid pink and opaque out of the packet. I believe USA and UK (I know UK) is mainly wet cured and still raw meaty looking raw. I struggle to get it (aussie) truly crisp or get much colour on without it drying out because of this and it's often served that pink colour. I've seen my FIL eat straight out the packet... not sure how safe that is but yeah. Uncooked aussie bacon looks like barely cooked uk bacon its confusing. I've only ever had cooked bacon in the US but from distant memory seemed more akin to UK.

Okay last dinner. Lamb hot pot, with wedges, cauli and sauerkraut. Maybe rice too? I'm going to be honest now. Most times he dosen't tell me what things are other than the main dish, and i don't want to pester if im not all that curious. So excuse the poor descriptions! A roll of some kind. Guessing pork. His fav salad with a side of deoderant. A toastie. The fruit made a comeback! Pineapple returns! 3 types of melon too. And I will have to ask about these. I thought muffins to start with. But the sauce packet, when zoomed in is a chili sauce so now I'm leaning toward breaded rissoles? I shall find out.

Haha its probably more me than him. I don't feel the need to report the pumpkin and feta salad was "good" and the roll was "ok" 😂. I rarely get more than one word answers re food reviews if its good. I get more feedback if bad.... and I probably didn't want to report he really liked the Chili in Filo 😂. Coming up soon is last nights dinner which, other than the very first nights dinner was the "best yet". My hub loves his veg so if the veg is good, many sins are forgiven (its how I learnt to stop boiling broccoli for 20 minutes alla my ma 😁).

The desserts were a coffee cheese cake and a vanilla cheese cake with jelly topping.... And as for the colour... Thats just Aussie standard Aeroplane Lime jelly. This is a traditional childrens dessert in upsidedown land. I present, "frog inna pond" usually served in a plastic cup, but we were out for dinner so... fancy 😂. Nb: If you use the Aeroplane neon blue jelly and a caramello koala it becomes the very non traditional "Koala inna Creek"

Okay I just asked what the dessert was and he replied "The worst sh.. I have ever eaten" so uh... keep guessing I guess 😂🤷‍♀️

Last nights dinner was a spicy pork vindaloo that had an accident. I have to say that these Vindaloos must not be like the ones in the UK or my husband would be having accidents 🤔. Mystery Pastry Hot dog with cheese and bacon. (Easy now americans... 😂). Pork noodle salad Crackers. And he indulged us with a dessert! .... any ideas cos I am stumped.

Waste not want not 😂. But yeah... nah!

Lunches today. Things are getting a little samey. I'm not sure if thats hubs fault or a lack of variety being provided 🤔. Sambo Sweet potato and feta... Mystery Filo (last one was filled with leftover Chili). Leftover Roast I think?

Okay. Dinner Time. Bread day was tasty, and the sandwich meat was pork. Noodle salad got 2 bites and a bin visit. We had mexicanish tonight with Chili Con Carne, rice and some iffy looking veg. He said it was quite good though. For tomorrow we selected the very gourmet sweet potato, spinach and feta salad. The vege pasta bake The mystery "Filo Pastry" (dosen't look like Filo to me but 🤷‍♀️). And some crackers with vegemite and butter. He has abandoned the melon. Took an apple to keep the dr away.

@Smithy I'll get back to you about the rubbish and food deliveries. All he can tell me is the food hall is open from 4am-8am (cater to breakfast for day shift and dinner for night shift) and from 4pm to 8pm for the opposite. I'm not sure he'll be that interested finding out for me but one of my workmates sisters is a chef at a mine camp (not the same one) maybe I can ask her about the logistics when I next see her 🤔. Mining is a massive industry here, and there are multiple camps and mines just in the area hubs at, so its fairly well infrastructured. I will endeavour to get answers. Breakfast (time for norm hours people - I was certainly still in bed😂) views.

On to dinner. He went for the roast pork tonight. It came with gravy, beans, pots, carrots & parsnips. Seems light on the Gravy today 😁. Tomorrows courses include. The daily melons. A roast beef or pork sando with cheese, pickles and tomato. A roll with roast beef (?) Mango chutney and spinach or lettuce. A pizza bread looking thing. And a noodle salad of some kind. Seems like we are in for a bready day tomorrow. My favourite 😁.

@weinoo, yes I could send him with stuff if it was truly all awful, but he's not starving and there's people far far worse of in this world. To be honest, I doubt he would take it - the food is a part of his salary after all, he'd think it was like throwing away money 😂. Pleased to say the days food was better than it looked. Ceaser was good if small, the wrap was ham, tomato and spinach and the sausage roll was ok - with a glass of water.

It's the hunger 😂. The food may look better but... it is not. And its about to take a turn for the worse! So the toasty got canned. It had plastic cheese and that real processed reformed ham. The noodle salad didn't get a rave review either and this week the melon is on the edge of too soft 🥺. It still got eaten, the last thing anyone can call my husband is picky/fussy, I just asked him for an honest account of his meals. Ok so for tonight, the best looking option was uh, "chick pea ragu" with pumpkin, mash and peas. Uh. Yeh. Tomorrow will start with sad fruit (featuring back up apple). Some kind of wrap? The driest looking slice of beef sausage roll I have ever seen. And an actually okay looking ceaserish salad. Which is slightly suprising as hub dosent do boiled egg - although seems sparse.

Folks got the thong covered 😂. The "crib hut" is actually like their office / area in the mine itself each crew has one (drillers, pmonkeys, surveyors, geos etc). Where they lunch and hide during storms etc.

Okay. "We" are back in camp 🥺. I let him read some comments on days off and he might be more inclined to try some options other than the Bain Marie "slop" (his words). For dinner he went for the Roast, it's pork with Broc, Cauli and Pots and a litre of Gravy by the looks. He said it was really good, veg was fresh, but, suprisingly, the gravy could do with some salt. Excuse the thong 😉. For lunches and smokos and breakfast we picked. A Chili Beef Noodle Salad. A Ham & Cheese Toastie The daily fruit salad (now sadly lacking pineapple and skimpy on the rock melon - more a pot of honey dew). And what he (and I) thought was a Burrito. I asked what was in the Burrito and he said last time, meat beans and rice. And then! He indulged me with a cross section of said Burrito. And it is not a Burrito. It is a hybrid Pasty / Burrito, with sort of minced beef pie filling in a Tortilla. I also asked what tools they have in their crib hut, food wise obviously. They have a fridge, a microwave, a pie warmer and a toastie maker. I'm not glad to be back if you know what I mean, but I am sure glad to chat to you guys and hope there's still interest 😁.
