Ok fair warning. This is not gourmet (I know I never am but - this is heart food not .. well whatever). So my Nanny was a WWII teenager and a lot of her recipes were thrifty and she viewed the microwave like the marvel it was back then until the day she died. Roast shoulder of lamb was a treat on odd Sundays and the leftovers were often turned in to "Sgetti Pie" for us grand kids during the week. Left over roast lamb was minced with bread to bulk, fried with an onion, add water and an oxo cube, poured into pyrex, topped with tinned spaghetti, and microwaved, served with mash usually. My valentines is also her death anniversary and I had left over roast beef and memories and a kinda sorta copy. Plus hub was at work so no need for steak and romance. Roast Beef (Topside). I added a grated carrot and garlic to the original mince mix but thats about it. Chucked it in nannys enamel (I decided to bake not microwave). Topped with Heinz Spaghetti before baking (I warned you!). And Voila!. Sgetti Pie with Peas for my boy. Looks like sh!t tastes like memories. Memories I'm not sure the kid wanted ๐. Tldr: Got sentimental. Cooked. Prepared to be judged ๐.

Finding foodie context... Whilst testing varied hopp and grain based drinks, hub snapped a pic of the sky. In it you can see 2 blocks of 3 "living boxes" where he eats / sleeps and it looks so ... well beautiful. Skys been real expressive in QLD lately. This was dinner. Chilli I assume.- 315 replies

Well, hubs still out there, blowing up dead dinos and ruining the planet etc etc. Covid finally got its Visa and came to QLD so we're back to polystyrene in our living boxes for tea. Some times it hits. Like this Chinese inspired pork and veg dish. And sometimes it's Spew. And the world plods on. Stealth toe after stealth toe.- 315 replies

A rustic wholemeal pasta thing for us with skinless beef sausage. I can't really use the sausages made from the last beast as 'Sausages' because whatever skins they used (I am assuming they are from said beast), are so thick and rubbery you really get a reminder of what they were used for back in the day ๐ ๐คข. Ps. Happy New Year etc. etc.

As I endeavour to clear the freezer ahead of silly season, I came up with a Sausage and Leek casserole with everything but the tinned tomato and herbs coming from the freezer. The sausages are my FILs (he is a Grazier / Cocky whatever term you wish to use), and whenever you do a home kill (cattle) you end up with a lot of Sausage - his partner does not eat sausage, and this is where we win (although pork sausage is forever superior) ๐. Quick, Cheap, kinda Yummy.

I have told him his photos go out unedited so people can see his feet. I also told him people make jokes (good natured) - he's aware - it is Consensual! ๐ -
Couple of lunches from a little trip to the seaside. Fish and Chips from a British fish and chip shop (haddock) for me. And the boys ate piles of Calamari

I must be sheltered because I have never heard that word in any context other than sandwich (not sure if that is a positive or a negative). Apologies, it is banned from my lexicon. And I'm going to have to let a couple of cafes and bakeries know ๐ฌ. Moving on, tonight is the return of the 'gentlemans club'. And sh!tty nibblies, partly provided by me and the canteen. I packed him a gentlemans club cheer up box.- 315 replies

The "illegal" comment was in reference to the fact they are no longer meant to eat in their accomodation as previously noted. And he will 100% put the pasta and potato in his sandwich. And on to Semantics. I have never heard of the word in question being used to mean anything other than Sandwich. It is innocent Australian vernacular as far as I am concerned. But this morning I have been educated that it has other meanings in the US / Spanish so I will no longer use it on this forum. "Sando" is a Japanese colloquialism I believe that the US has jumped on for instagram - or a vest in the Phillipines ๐คทโโ๏ธ. -

Tonight we are going for illegal sandwiches, with mixed cured meats, lettuce, cheese, and mayo. I want to say the potato and pasta salad will be a side but, I haven't lied to you guys yet ๐ฌ. -

Tonight we stick it to the man with a cold dinner, and some single use plastics, in his living and their serving box(es). Tonight he is making himself wraps with; lettuce, cheese, beet and cucumber, mayo, sweet chilli and tartare (wtf) sauces and ham, pork, chicken and salami. I want to say all those fillings won't be for one wrap, but knowing my weirdo, I would be lying. I feel guilty as I forgot to buy him a Bento these days off (thought we could get round it that way). He hasn't toetaly forgotten the assignment.- 315 replies

It was a chicken leg! And wedges. I am afraid our series is in trouble. They have enforced eating in the mess if you want a hot meal - no more takeaway boxes to your room. Its going to take a lot for me to convince him to take a public food picture โนโน -

Hello Boys and Girls. Husbandio has been off with a chest infection hence the silence. He has come back to a "weird" dinner set up. Its now " self serve " and they have run out of polystyrene boxes - this is the current solution. I have not asked him what it is yet. Thought might be fun to guess ๐ฌ๐. I think maybe pork chop? And Veg? -
@Kim Shook i did actually. With a lot of eye rolling at the ridiculousness - but it actually really worked! Not going to do it everytime but made the sausage a lot softer? And she is right about the weird pink colour being solved.
