    Gado gado. Recent dinner.
  3. Day temps above 30c are very common during high summer here. That said, it's not that I don't eat soup, I do almost daily during my workplace lunch service, I just don't cook it.
  4. Strawberry and ricotta mousse cake, on a crisp almond crumble base and topped with homemade hazelnut krokant.
  5. Last soup until next winter. Spring minestrone. With peas and green fava beans. Pasta, red pepper, pesto, fennel and fennel seeds.

    Glass noodles with shrimps and soft tofu. Thai yellow curry sauce, with coconut milk, loads of chili, lime zest, makrut lime leaves, ginger and garlic. Scallions and peanuts.

    I'm so happy to know that you enjoyed it. I've learnt to appreciate turmeric in sweets after sampling a drink of turmeric milk and honey a while ago. It works very well.

    2/3 cup round rice 1.5 cups water 1 handful black raisins 1 cup coconut milk / cow's milk (I used half and half) 3 tbsp sugar (add according to taste) 1 teaspoon salt 1-1.5 teaspoon turmeric 1 teaspoon fennel seed, grounded seeds from 1/2 pod cardamom, grounded 1-1.5 teaspoon cinnamon 1/3-1/2 teaspoon mace (or nutmeg) a small amount of black pepper Cook rice and raisins in water until done to your liking, add water as needed, but keep it thick. Add the coconut milk / milk, salt, turmeric and sugar to taste. Cook further or add water to reach desired thickness. Add spices and mix well. Top with toasted cashew or coconut flakes.

    Indian style sweet rice pudding, flavored with coconut milk, cardamom, cinnamon, mace, ginger, turmeric, anise. Plump juicy raisins. Toasted cashew and coconut chips.

    Eggs cooked shakshuka style in a spinach and cream sauce. With slices of roasted sweet potato. Zaatar, sumac. Crispy warm bead to soak it all up.
  11. Yorkies . Served with mushroom gravy, which was delicious, but too ugly to take a picture of. One of the puddings was hungry and attempted to eat his neighbour, very rude of him!

    Breakfast salad. Freekeh wheat, strawberries, tomatoes, soft sirene cheese, basil, balsamic vinegar.

    Fava beans with cumin, chili and parsley. Labneh with sumac. A big drizzle of olive oil from last years harvest of our own tree. Quick pickled onion with smoked paprika. A warm and fluffy pita bread.

    Yesterday's dinner - baked mac and cheese, made with sharp cheddar, smoked gouda and some parm. Topped with buttered corn flakes (the corny step-brother of breadcrumbs).

    Chickpea, peanuts, tahini and parsley soup. With homemade noodles.

    Mushroom bhaji, with chickpeas, yogurt, fried onion and warm spices (cinnamon, ginger, pepper, allspice etc.). Asafoetida cabbage, with black lentils, caramelized onions, cashew, mustard seeds. Palak pappu (spinach dal), with plenty of ginger and garlic. Jeera rice. Home made mango chutney, yogurt.
  19. Moroccan cookies with anise and sesame. Served with strong mint tea.
  20. Takeaway fatayer-pita (the people making it calls it fatayer, but obviously it's not the same as regular fatayer). It's a soft and slightly chewy pita, laminated with olive oil, much like scallions pancakes are, and filled with spinach and fresh zaatar herb. Served it with labneh, zaatar, olives and veggies.
  21. Yeah, I know well your dislike of legumes But this specific texture of undercooked beans makes even me to want and spit them out
  22. As a lover of legumes, I agree that this chalky texture is horrible. IMO, it's usually a sign of undercooking.

    A casserole of matzo, leeks, scallions, kashkaval and feta. A salad of beets, oranges and oroblanco dresses with a vinaigrette made with potent olive oil. Over ricotta with silan and thyme. Toasted pistachios.
