Nutley Resident--thanks for the report. Be sure to let us know about other places that you dine.

Welcome to eGullet Arpad. Where else do you like to dine?
-
I agree weird. I have never seen fried sushi!
-
Have not been there in over a year. If you go please give us a report.
-
Maybe you have to ask for chopsticks but I have never had to ask for fried noodles. I have had noodles put on the table and have had to ask for peanuts at Hunan Cottage.

No fried noodles. No tea, No soy sauce. No chopsticks. No fortune cookies. No sliced oranges. But the three dishes we tried at Confucius, 558 Washington Blvd, Jersey City were good. We stumbled into this large restaurant by accident and had a pleasant enough dining experience. In all fairness I did see one couple eating with chopsticks and I saw bowls of fried noodles by the waiter's station but I guess you have to ask if you want them. We shared a large portion of cold noodles listed as having a spicy sesame sauce. The sauce had a delightful peanut flavor but was not spicy. However, the house special tofu casserole with stewed diced chicken, dry shrimp, tofu, fresh mushrooms, and peppers was spicy and a nice alternative to the usual Chinese dishes. Lowell had a lamb dish with broccoli, bamboo sprouts and red pepper. This was also quite tasty but missing the spice. Anyone been here? Phone: 201-386-8898

Had breakfast today at Jefferson's Cafe, 88 Maple Avenue, Montclair. I had cheese eggs (scrambled eggs with cheese, a bowl of grits and biscuits. My friend had poached eggs, grits, and biscuits. With tea and coffee the bill was $7 with tax for the two of us. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and make great southern fried chicken. If you are looking for Southern cooking try this place.

Have you considered updating "Dining Out?" as there are many new critics, chefs and restaurateurs since the publication of this very informative book?

I'm amazed that the last posting before Tommy resurrected this topic was Oct 17, 2001. Thanks Tommy for doing a search.

Didn't realize that there were other chemists at the pig out. Lowell has a PH.D in chemistry and 17+ patents. Gee guys. We were talking about food all afternoon and we could have been talking about really interesting stuff!!!

What's the story on the power outage?
-
We were just interested in sampling one of the appetizing pasta dishes, without ordering it as our main meal. We didn't really want to spend $5 each to sample a couple of mouthfuls of pasta. The Man, The Myth TapItorScrapIt.com Did they offer to serve this dish as an appetizer for half the price? Would you have preferred that? In any case an appetizer size portion would have given you one mouthful!

Thanks for your report. But if the entree was $14.95 and you split 2 entrees for 6 people ($30) that comes to $5 a serving.

I've invited 'always dining out' to explain whether or not she has a relationship to the restaurant, and if so what that relationship is. Until such time as we hear back, I would encourage people not to pass judgment one way or the other, and I'll also ask that we set aside that aspect of the discussion for now and get back to talking about the actual restaurant. Thanks. We were going to have dinner at this new restaurant on Saturday night but when we got there they were closed. A sign on the door said that they would be closed on Friday because of a power outage. Kyoto was also closed as the power outage was not fixed. If you dine at this restaurant be sure to give us a report.

I think we are going to have to reach out to YOU for an opinion on Andrea's. How was it???

What a fabulous day and we were in NJ as the weather was gorgeous. Didn't you know that it was raining in NY? Thanks so much Jonathan & Nina for sharing their beautiful farm with us. Rachel and Kim--you worked very hard to get this organized. Bravo to the two of you. And Fink rocks. Wow. 100 lbs of pork and grilled pork skin. I was in heaven. Everyone should also give themselves a pat on the back for bringing all of the delicious food and thanks to Tommy for bringing the dishes to put the food on!! I'm STUFFED. All in all I think the first annual pig roast at Babolink Farms was a success.

Actually David I was under the impression that Joan wouldn't accept an ad unless she approved of the product.
