Who are the Red Sox and where do they dine?

Not likely. After Gambling is Rush Limbaugh (No political comments allowed here) and he is supposedly the most listened to show in the US.... Arthur would be good in a venue like WNYC. I think he should be a regular guest on the Jonathan Schwartz weekend shows at first and then move to his own slot. Why shouldn't he just move into his own slot on weekdays?
-
The Savor section of the 9/1 New York Times, page F5 has an interview with Arthur by Frank Prial. In it Prial writes, " Mr Schwartz said he had had many offers since leaving WOR but planned to play a little before taking on anything new." Let's hope his playtime is short.

"a young stud and work the front of the house." That will bring in customers!!

Cheech44--Welcome to eGullet. If you are opening a restaurant in NJ it should not be the same as every other same old--same old Italian restaurant. The menu should be different, interesting and have some surprises. A talented chef, well trained staff and comfortable decor are important to me. I also prefer BYO. A public relations firm that specializes in restaurants also helps to get a place going and once the buzz has been started a PR firm helps to keep it going. With so many restaurants in NJ you need to stand out.

LorraineP--Welcome to eGullet. Happy to have you posting here.

Been wanting to get to this place for years. Now I am determined. Hank--I'll have one of everything you had!

I think Taro has new owners which may be why they are busier now. We went there 3-4 times years ago when they first opened and then wrote the place off. Was never impressed with the food or the amateurish service. We had to ask for water, specials were recited without the prices, silverware was not replaced between courses and the waiter told us that the kitchen would not split any items. But from what I am reading here it is worth a revisit.

That would be very good news. Not familiar with the station but will give it a try. Do they have any food related shows?

We had to celebrate the recent move to NJ of my brother and his family as well as introduce them to the NJ dining scene. Coming from Ohio he is used to chain restaurants. Well—Trattoria Fresco, Caldwell was just the first of many places we will take him and what a wonderful beginning they had to NJ dining. We ordered a mozzarella, prosciutto, tomato and arugula pizza as soon as we were seated so we could nibble on it while looking at the menu. It came with a forest full of arugula leaves and a thin crisp crust—delicious. The kitchen sent out a tasting of heirloom tomatoes beautifully plated with a tiny spoon of sea salt. Then we shared the wood fire roasted peppers filled with jumbo lump crabmeat and an innovative olive bread pudding topped with caponata. I had a special of Florida red snapper topped with a mélange of vegetables. Other entrees were the Chianti braised short ribs with crispy onion rings; tomato crusted boneless veal steak with lobster filled artichokes and chive whipped potatoes. I loved the tender veal but could make a dinner out of the artichokes. We also had the lasagna Bolognese which is one of the best renditions of this dish that I have had in a long time. There was no way we could bypass the zeppole with warm butterscotch dipping sauce or the chocolate fondue with fresh fruit for dessert. Oh yes, two people at our table were watching their calories and ordered sorbet and the berries with zabaglione. Co-chefs Rich Giacalone and Paul Lustbader are to be commended for an outstanding meal. GM Evan Darnell runs a tight ship--service was excellent. Don’t forget that Trattoria Fresco has a three course fixed price dinner for $22.95 Monday through Thursday; BYO.

I didn't catch this show, but I have heard Dr. Joy Brown sing the praises of Olive Garden in Times Square (she finds it a very good spot for business lunches) and Joey Reynolds is ...kinda...icky... Was the show any good??? NO.

If you are willing to drive The Park, Park Ridge has large lobsters. Call and ask what they have available and if they will steam it for you. 201-930-1300. Other options would be to check with the Strip House in Livingston, Ruth Chris in Parsippany or Morton's in Hackensack. -
The Saturday show this AM had Dr Joy Brown and Joey Reynolds as subs. They said that Joan was on vacation and would be back next week.

Bula received a VERY GOOD in the Sunday August 29 New York Times. Congratulations.
-
They are open for dinner Tues. to Sat. Very casual menu with salads, sandwiches and four what I would consider dinner entrees. I assume once they have the "grand opening" they will have more choices.

I just hope that another radio station picks up his show. He does such a fantastic job I can't imagine not having my daily Arthur fix. Meanwhile the first NJ appearance that I know about is the following: 10/20: A benefit to raise money for Chef Jeff Schneekloth’s recovery will be held at The Bernards Inn, 27 Mine Brook Rd, Bernardsville with special guest Arthur Schwartz. 6:30 to 9:30 PM; $100. Call Kings Cooking Studiio at 973-463-6500 for tickets.
