  4. menton1--Check out the archives on the right side of the page. http://www.baristanet.com/barista/food.html
  5. Round Trip Fare has a liquor license and is by the RR station. American/eclectic I believe. One Fifteen Cafe was listed in the Montclair paper as Spanish. Haven't been. You might want to check the food section of http://www.baristanet.com/ as they may have had stories on these restaurants.

  8. Menupages.com has the dining room menu listed not the menu for the Bar Room. Is the Bar Room a la carte or a 3 course tasting menu?
  9. What type of menu items? Any recommendations? Prices?
  10. Thanks Phil. It is illegal to charge corkage in a BYO in NJ. What I am confused about is if it is illegal to charge corkage if you are selling NJ wine?
  11. LauraSM--I appreciate your response but am a bit confused. I have been told by restaurateurs that they have a license to sell only NJ wine. It's a special license that is given out to promote NJ wines. They cannot sell "other" wines.
  12. We went to China Chalet in Florham Park. They have a NJ wine license and a sign stating they will charge $5 a bottle corkage fee. Is this legal with a NJ wine license?
  13. And if you order something marked with a "chili" be sure to tell them that you want the dish to be spicy.
  14. It is hard to judge a restaurant on one visit but this was our experience. Went to China Chalet in Florham Park. Sichuan pork dumplings had a thick dough and the filling was tasteless. The “spicy” red pepper sauce they came with smelled delicious but had no zing to it. The prawns in a sesame sauce were good and not overcooked but nothing more than a fried prawn with a sweet and sour sauce that were sprinkled with sesame seeds. On other menus this dish is called sesame seed -------. The baby bok choy with black mushrooms was ok but again bland. The shredded chicken with garlic sauce tasted like shredded chicken with ketchup. This was listed as a spicy dish and was very mild. The Chinese customers were very warmly greeted and given chopsticks and they were ordering some dishes that “looked” interesting as they were decorated with cut out vegetables to resemble birds etc. There are white tablecloths and the prices are higher than one would find at Hunan Cottage or China 46. Also, they have a NJ wine license and have a sign up saying they will charge $5 per bottle corkage fee.

  16. WEissman--What do YOU like to have at Esty Street? How much would diinner for two with wine cost? Do they allow you to BYO and what is the corkage fee?
  17. Will be at a Passover sedar.
  18. What do you like to eat and drink at Esty Street?
  19. We were at this restaurant once years ago and had a very good dinner. Do they have a home page? Who is the chef?
  20. Livingston Bagel is going through a MAJOR renovation. They are open. In the area you might want to also try Eppes Essen on Rt. 10 near S Livingston Ave.
  21. It was a most delicious evening. Some of my favorite dishes were the Grilled Shrimps with a Potato Salad (Restaurant Serenade); lobster spring rolls (Liberty House); Seafood Salad (Adagio Taverna); Shrimp with Orange Gelee (The Palace);Tiramisu in a chocolate covered pastry cup (Basilico); Lemon Meringue tart (Sweet Sisters) and Mixed Berry Sorbet and Lemon Pound Cake (The Stage House Inn). I'm sure I forgot something! Thought that the homemade wine from Bacchus was much better than I expected. Also enjoyed the tastings from The Wine Library. Almost forgot--the mac and cheese from Pierre's.
  22. LOL "now you see why we never order desset - there is no room. course i would love to know how rosie and lowell manage 3 desserts between them and stay so thin. genetics i guess" Rosie goes on the treadmill daily and to yoga class 3-4 times a week. Lowell goes to the gym when he is not working. We also go on hikes when time permits in addition to the other exercise. Breakfast is a half piece of dry toast. Lunch is yogurt and fruit. It is a constant struggle to maintain more exercise than the calories that we eat. : )
