Where are you going? And if you are staying home what are you cooking? I did get this info: Dorrian's Red Hand, 555 Washington Blvd, Jersey City will be starting the St. Patrick's Day celebration at 11 AM on March 17th. Live Irish music; possibly step dancers; bartenders that make shamrocks in your Guinness; a limited traditional Irish menu as well as an increased pub menu will be available. Open until 2 AM. For reservations call 201-626-6660. Joseph’s Restaurant, 2111 Bremen Ave, Egg Harbor City, will be transformed into an Irish pub featuring corn beef and cabbage; potato crusted salmon and other Irish favorites. For information and reservations call 609-965-2111.

If you are willing to drive to Noodle Chu you might as well go to Hunan Cottage in Fairfield. Ask for the Chinese menu.

Had a delicious lunch at Cinque Figlie today. Chef/owner Joe Mucerino makes one of the best renditions of grilled calamari and we started off with two orders as no one wanted to share this tasty appetizer. Another appetizer of arugula, endive and radicchio salad topped with thinly sliced Parmesan cheese was large and beautifully presented. I loved the thinly sliced tuna served over warm baby greens with a balsamic sauce. It is listed as an appetizer but was large enough for a lunch entrée. Friends had a stripped bass, and grilled scallops and shrimp with squid ink pasta. Both were reported to be luscious. With cappuccino we had some fresh fruit for dessert. Cinque Figlie is open for lunch Monday through Friday 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM; dinner Monday through Thursday 5 to 10 PM; Friday and Saturday 5 to 11 PM; full bar. Phone: 973-560-0545.

We hope to eventually try everything at Hunan Cottage. Last night each dish was a winner. Started off with marinated bean curd skin with Chinese mushrooms. It was similar to a mock duck. The sautéed baby shrimp were mild and although listed as an entrée made a good appetizer. Next we had the fresh noodles with shrimp and chicken. The snow cabbage, bean curd sheet and green beans (edamame) is one of my favorite dishes and so healthy. I can also recommend the yellow leek and chicken. We asked for this in a spicy sauce which we preferred over the sauce it usually comes with. The waiter was fantastic and brought the dishes out one at a time.

REMINDER: DEADLINE IS SATURDAY MARCH 12.

Sorry to hear that also. They had wonderful dinner entrees.

Dinner at Corso 98, 98 Walnut St, Montclair was scrumptious. Along with crispy calamari served with marinara sauce, chitarra pasta bolognese (my favorite), and exotic mushroom risotto with truffle essence, we had for the first time the stuffed zucchini blossoms. Do try this dish. The flowers are stuffed with a rock shrimp, crab, sundried tomatoes mixture and then deep-fried. Good stuff! Entrees were roasted suckling pig; fall off the bone veal osso buco with creamy polenta; a generous portion of pecan crusted tilapia with faro and spinach; and braised rabbit over pappardelle. Of course we didn’t have room for desserts but ordered them anyway! My favorite was the cappuccino crème brulee. The marzipan gelato with chocolate flakes made by Ciao Bella was also great as was momma’s Easter wheat pie. It’s always a delight to dine here. BYO. Phone: 973-746-0789.

What's different? They served those items before. Are they serving dinner entrees?

We were at Ekko once. Loved the large free form rice crackers that were placed on the table. It was a nice change from bread. We were disappointed in the food. The black bean soup with tomato, scallion, guacamoles and cilantro cream sauce sounded better than it tasted. I had shrimp tempura rolls, spicy salmon rolls and tuna tataki which were fair. Have had much better at other places. Lowell had the spicy Ekko pasta containing sautéed chicken, shrimp, Shanghai bok choy, peppers and shitake mushrooms in spicy red bean paste sauce, topped with scallion tempura. I know this sounds like a lot of ingredients but the dish was mostly pasta and not very interesting. Prices were high. We were also overwhelmed with all the menus that were placed on the table when we were seated. I also found it annoying that my plate was whisked away before both of us were finished. The restaurant is very pretty and worth a try as the previous poster had such a positive experience. For sushi I prefer Kyoto or Zen which are also BYO.
