  1. As a non smoker with major sinus problems, I ve always been furious when my meal is disturbed by smoke meanderng from the bar to my table. I m not a bloomberg fan, but I want to kiss him for doing this! I know its a hot topic, but I think its worth discussing since this will surely, at least for a little while, will change NYs social scene any one have opions?
  2. cheeeeeeseeburgers and fries, the rarer the better, that and oysters and ohh chocolate , no , really just anything salty I ve eaten capers outta the jar plan with a fork! they are so nice and canned artichokes.
  3. thanks everyone for your compliments:) I had the honor of meeting Danny last year when I was in college. My internship had the Cassandra Wilson party at Sugar in Tribeca. He was there and we spent 20 minutes discussing the rabbit entree at Gramercy Tavern. I never thought a man of his stature would be so down to earth and friendly , it was so nice! He was so modest too! I just need to go to Blue Smoke now for some BBQ!!
  4. finally, when i visit from NY to see my family at home i can drink my coffee, and read my magazine without gettting cancer thank you !!!only 2. 5 months til NY is SMOKE FREE TOO!!
  5. Hi everyone I hope everyone had a nice weekend. I m here to report about my spectacular valentines day lunch at Tabla First of all, the people there are just lovely, so friendly and down to earth unlike some other downtown eateries where they think they are doing you a favor instead of the otherway around,,, anyways, we were seating upstairs, right by the opening that allows one a view of bread bar. Our waiter, a very cute waiter I might add was very helpful as I couldnt decide on what to try this time. I always have difficulties there since it is all so delicious. My appetizer was seared mussels and calamari on a bed of frisee in this curry sauce, i hhave the weakest tongue in the world for spice but i ate it anyways bc the first intial bite was just so scrumptious. We also ordered champagne, dont recall the brand, green bottle though,,,, main course was the special of the day, a pan roasted fluke with smoked bacon, and an assortment of veggies, this dish easily ranks up there on one of the most amazing dishes i ve tried. I cant even describe all the flavors, it was also in a type of curry sauce, though not as spicey as the app. Dessert was also incredible, a chocolate chai semi freddo with home made whipped cream, it just melted in your mouth, my date had the vanilla bean kulfati ( is that spelled anywhere near right?) which is a very dense whole milk dessert its in the shape of an upside down cone, this was in a blood orange sauce with blood orange slices,, her dessert blew me away, it was quite orgasmic actually ( is that word allowed on the board) it was amazing, the whole meal, start to finish was exactly how every upscale meal should be, i remmeber when i was 19 and first moved to NYC and I ate at Union Sq cafe i still remember my warm chocolate tart with mint icecream there,,, Gramercy tavern has never ever let me down, the rabbit entree and hamachi appetizer are the only things i get there, they are just so so good. 11 Madison Park was great too, though the crowd was a bit stuffy there for my taste, service again was excellent i have yet to go to blue smoke, bc i have a favorite southern place in the west village, the pink tea cup, but i ll check it out eventually ok , thats all for now, sorry if this was too long, i m not aware of all the posting rules yet Lauren
  6. a year or two ago it was closed. i wasn t sure if it was closed for good, or just being redone, i m happy to hear it still around, i ve eaten at lots of greek places, my favorites are greek symposiium, its columbia student land, but great food, anda great environment, i m a sucker for the flaming cheese the other is high end, MILOS, unbelievable food, but very expensive! the fish is by the pound, they have the ripest redest tomatoes in the dead of winter. and theres this yogurt dip to die for also in the east village there is , a place called, its greek to me, a fun cheap delicious place

this message is for Bond GIRL I got your message, but for some reason, I could not send you a personal reply. You can email me by clicking below. I ate at 66 last wednesday. 66 was wonderful. The space was lovely, very simple and chic as his other restaurants. The food was delicious. my friend and i shared 5 dishes. Everthing was very fresh and not heavy as chinese can be. I highly recommend the fresh veggie plate, scallion pancakes, grilled shrimp dish- we had some great desserts too, but i can not recal them. I was lucky enough to meet JG himself. He was very nice and gracious, was everyone aware that he was so young? only 46, i thought he was at least 60 in any case, the prices were quite reasonable. I ate at the communal table which was very fun, and lively there is a nice lounge in front too Lauren
