  1. oh, and one more thing!: it came with a printed little instruction booklet. NOT the USB manual
  2. Ordered mine 19 Nov, and it arrived today. Not too bad at all. I actually was able to order it from Anova Culinary via amazon.com which made it super easy. filled a cambro to 8 qts and set it to 134 F. within 5 minutes of it saying it hit temperature, the temp display on the Anova agreed perfectly with the water temp taken with my Thermapen all great news. now, what to make for dinner?... ps i also hand cut (just with a serated knife) the 12x12 cambro lid to fit the Anova. It's close enough to work and can still come on and off with the circulator in place. I have a feeling cutting the larger poly lid for my 12x18 isn't going to be a home job though.
  3. I actually do the opposite and just throw the food into the room temp bath as soon as it's turned on and let it come up to temp as it's defrosting. This is largely because I'm impatient and want the food reheated as fast as possible. I basically do the same, but fill the bath with hot water. Why NOT give it a head start?
  4. Qiite the opposite... I wish it WERE compatible with the Iwatani torch. (it's being promised for perhaps later)
  5. in what way doesn't it fit? that WOULD be a fairly large error on their part, and a drag How is this an Anova "design flaw" or "large error"? Anova does not claim compatibility with this particular style Cambro. FWIW, the Cambro 18CW135 works fine, as does the Cambro 12SFSCW135. It would be a "large error" because many, many people use Cambros for Sous Vide cooking and because that's amongst the most common sizes used. No they didn't "claim compatibility".. what I said was it would be an error on their part if they hadn't THOUGHT about it at least. that's all. And it would be. But apparently it works. Mine is marked "shipped", so I should find out for myself in a few days, I reckon.

  7. none of them (including that link) seem to have the smaller one like the one at Polyscience. I suspect Cambro, the company, doesn't make it.
  8. and now Polyscience has announced its $300 Discovery circulator http://cuisinetechnology.com/sousvide-discovery.php no doubt in response to Anova and Sansaire
  9. I've found 12x18 (9 deep) Cambro's everywhere but has anyone found the smaller 10.5x12.7 inch polycarbonate tanks anywhere other than from Polyscience (where they are fairly pricey)? thanks
  10. So, someone take a stab: Why MIGHT someone go with the pricier Polyscience versus the Anova? What is the Anova giving up, other than higher bath volume?
