Popeye's, again. Starting to think I need some help, it's just that the chicken is so darn good.
-
No worries, I spaced one night between visits. Didn't know about the lard- must be why that chicken is so damn tasty. The biscuits, too. And I was marveling at that apple pie while I was eating it in the parking lot, staring at it thinking how amazing it is they can sell something like that for 1 buck!

Another 7 from Popeye's, with apple pie. Hard to stay away.

Number 7 at Popeye's- that is a 5 piece chicken tender meal, mash with gravy and a biscuit (I also ordered a warm apple pie for a buck). All together $11.69. I'd give it a 4/5 stars.

Lemon sole, pan fried in butter, roasted potatoes and spinach. Tomorrow, Popeye's.

I ate a salad then washed it down with a bowl of wheat thins in coconut milk.

Noted. Next time I walk through the square, the bell will ring! We also just received a Popeye near where I live in Connecticut, which I mean to try very soon. I haven't been to New Jersey in maybe 5 years, and, since I am without a car, could only meet you in NYC, which I would enjoy. I love walking through that city.

Those ham grinders up there look delicious. Can't even remember the last time I had a good grinder.

What I've had of the regular menu is pretty tasty: chicken chalupa, crunchwrap supreme, and the favorite of my teenage years was the gordita crunch. Last night was my first time at a Taco Bell in about a year. I don't think I've ever seen one in NYC, but seeking one out seems to me an optimally good use of your time. In fact, years ago, my friend and I drove around in New Jersey/New York area for about 3 hours looking for a Taco Bell. We never did find one.

I was pretty disappointed. The commercial made them appear much larger than they were. They are also, in fact, not a lovely, bright orange color as portrayed, but an insipid sort of blend of jaundice yellow and bio-hazard green. The taste was not nacho-ie, but rather like some french fries that got a sprinkle of McCormick's chili seasoning that has been sitting opened in your cupboard since the late '80s; additionally, spiked with some sort of sweetening agent, that just further obscures whatever these atrocities were meant to be. They are served with a warm cheese sauce, that I will say was not altogether unpleasant.

The nacho fries at Taco bell seemed so much better on TV.

First is a salad with pepper dressing and strips of ostrich, then samosas filled with peas, another filled/fried pastry, and some sort of delicious potato fritters with a wonderful lemon/garlic aioli type dressing and eggplant/coriander dip. To follow, the fluffiest couscous with tomatoes, lentils, braised/spiced carrots, crispy fish in coconut broth with tiny shrimp, and a chicken curry. Dessert was a cardamom flavored ice cream with small Egyptian nut filled pastries and a shot of Amurrula liquor, for good measure! All of this was enjoyed to some amazing native song and dance. The restaurant name is Gold in Capetown..

Turmeric, black potato, and herb I can't remember the name of, made into tea. I am in South Africa.
