  3. Monica, Hmmm...Are you trying to tell us something???? No
  4. my husband eats the peels.. he claims they taste good.. I think he does it to annoy me I like raw mango with the peels
  5. I dont think these guys were hard up for money.. well I dont know that for a fact.. but they were well dressed in nice suits and in the heart of downtown DC.. which tells me that they were probably employed.. so they had a paycheck. I was really annoyed at their behavior. Its pathetic and then to give the owner a hard time... I guess it takes all kinds
  6. I am interested in learning about food photographers who have done Indian food. Do you know someone who is exceptional? What makes them so? Do tell
  7. bleudauvergne This is an amazing blog. it has been such a joy to read.. thanks so much for sharing this!
  8. is this a real question? or a springboard into some sort of discussion. it's obvious to me that people shouldn't waste food when they're able to control their own portion size. in fact, many buffets even have signs posted stating as much. who's right? the customer i suppose. It wasnt a real question.. it was a loaded one! Let me play devil's advocate here.. what would the reaction have been if I had said the owner was really rude and lectured the guys on wasting their food
  9. I used to do this all the time.. cook this way that is. Boiled it a bit more and then placed it on a moderate griddle.. works well. I am just wondering if the water was or wasnt at a roaring boil when you covered it?
  10. I actually agree with you both. I was really annoyed at their behaviour. I then started to observe the other people.. and wow.. there is tons of wastage at a buffet. Really sad and STUPID
  11. I just got back from an interesting lunch. Buffet style. There was a group of five suited young men at the table next to mine. They would go get tons of food, eat a bit and then ask the server to take the plates away ... and then do it again. THe owner came up and respectfully requested them to not waste so much food. They got mad.. we are the customer routine.. The owner was apologetic but firm who is right?
  12. why do I feel like Vanna white all of a sudden
  13. I think this is a well intentioned question and deserves to be treated as such. Sometimes the smells are overwhelming and strong and it or may not be a bad thing.. they just are I had a korean roommate onetime and I thought that Korean food had a strong smell as well and sometimes it was hard on me when the kitchen had the "aroma" of the food. I love the food and adored her.. its not personal
  14. nope. that is different. this one is a bit more crunchy and the color is different.

  23. These guys are just great with their intimate knowledge of Mumbai and we are lucky to have them posting here. I just wanted to say how envious I am of you.. I would give anything to get a posting there..I am an outsider to the place, alas, but thought I would share my naive perspective. Mumbai is an awesome city.. NYC on steroids almost. It never sleeps.. you can grow old standing on the sidewalk.. life goes by so fast. The people are friendly (as evidenced by the posts here!) Folks who live there LOVE it..its like New Yorkers.. they dont ever want to live anywhere else. Mumbai has the best shopping for clothes and jewelry. The best. Its going to be an experience that you will, I hope, treasure. Each time I visit, I feel like a part of me stays behind in the city somewhere.. somewhere in the fast food stalls on the beach.. somwhere in the five star hotels and their charming interiors.. somewhere in the heart of this bustling city. Sorry.. my information is not practical! I have a husband with a practical side.. if you need any information please PM me and I will be happy to get back to you with anything Good luck!
  24. We probably are. the ones i know are small and pale creamish in color and coated with what appears to be powdered sugar. They are made with khoya or reduced milk. Murrabas- I have a book from my great grandmother that has age old recipes of these. maye I wil try a few and then post them
  25. Hey you hit a nerve with me.. I have so much research and pieces on this.. so does Episure.. look for more on this thread... shortly ( meaning tomorrow night at the earliest!!)
