    Dinner! 2010

Haha. They're not really chips per se. I carefully peel all of the layers off the onion and I cut them into little rectangles. Then they're put into a shallow bath of extra virgin olive oil mixed with red wine and a few pinches of salt. That is then heated in the oven at 350° for about 25 minutes, until they've darkened a bit and look crispy. They're quite tasty.

    Dinner! 2010

Chicago-style Pizza I just realized I was pretty much completely out of food and I don't feel like driving to the grocery store, since it's such a pain in downtown Chicago. So, I looked around and saw that I have three slices of mozzarella cheese left, half a red onion, some garlic, a small can of crushed tomatoes, a trace of Parmesan cheese, and some ingredients to make a little bit of dough. I made the dough before I went to class earlier and let it rise four a couple hours. Then I came back and threw this ugly thing together. I'm putting this in the dinner thread because I'll probably just eat half now and the other half later. First, the cheese is layered on the dough. Then, I put the garlic on top of it. Lastly, the crushed tomatoes and Parmesan. The onions are sitting in a pool of olive oil and red wine: I tried to get the Willis(Sears) Tower in a shot. It's hideous, but I'm eating it right now, and it's fantastic. I add a glorious onion chip to every bite I take.
  3. More sickening State coercion. Heightened regulations invariably favor the larger organizations over the smaller; the bigger ones possess the resources and financial means to obey and comply. Not only that, forced calorie displays have been shown to not really even work. Counting calories is not an even a viable mechanism for weight control because it presupposes that all consumed calories are the same. This is, of course, foolishness.
  4. Interesting article with some empirical tests by seriouseats.com. They've come to the conclusion that freezing should be feared.
  5. Haha. Me neither. There's something stupidly charming about it.
  6. Hahaha. I so want to try that out.
  7. I'm thinking of purchasing this Kintrex IRT0421. It's only $46.91, with free shipping. It measures up to 932 degrees F. Does anyone have experience with it?
  8. I'm still a sucker for nearly everything you guys have mentioned.
  9. I just watched this a few moments ago. He really did seem to look exactly like Derek Bulmer.
  10. I'm drinking some lemon-flavored Throat Coat this morning. Some pre-vocal warmup lubrication.
  11. Yeah, I've noticed substantial difference in taste when sealing and storing in the freezer. It's not the perfect solution to getting the most out of your ground coffee, but it's quick and easy.
  12. Yeah, I'd also like to see an English translation. As far as I know, there are only ones in French and Spanish.
  13. Whenever I feel I'm coming down with a cold, I load up on garlic, red onions and jalapeños. I'll cook that in with some chicken tenderloins in salsa. I also get plenty of vitamin D3 (between 5,000 and 10,000 IUs) and drink A LOT of water. I really haven't been sick in many years (*knocks on wood*).
