Isn't it true you can buy raw milk in most places, as long as the raw milk is labeled for pet's only? dcarch

Not to disagree. Just to have a total picture: Pasteurization and spending $3,350,000,000,000 annually in healthcare here in the USA have saved lives. In the old old days, healthcare spending = a little more than $0.00 annually. dcarch

Actually, my method involves pressure steaming. The meat/bones are in a smaller pot inside the pressure cooker, to be pressure steamed. You can damage the PC if you cook without water. dcarch

There are no good looking mats. You have gone thru a lot to have such a lovely wood floor, why mess it up with mats? Just get non-slip wood finish for the floor. dcarch

It would not be shorts of the relays or switches which connect the power to the heating elements. Possibly some cooking liquid spilled/leaked to the indicator lights contacts. Those lights operate at very low electric current. The salt in cooking liquid makes connection to power and provides that little power to keep those lights on. Sometime the problem goes away after a while. I would not recommend fixing it yourself unless you have experience with working with electric power. dcarch

"----- So I made breakfast a week ago and sat in the family room to eat and when I got up an hour later the Burner On and Hot Surface lights were both on, in spite of the switch being off. ----" While that was happening, was the heating elements hot or cold? dcarch

"---- UL states that a gas oven can produce 800 part per million carbon monoxide for 12 hours and still be in rated as safe. But, levels as low as 5PPM can be dangerous. A properly tuned oven should put out no more than 50 when door is closed. But when door is opened it can potentially make dangerous levels. ---" Today's houses are super insulated, so be careful if you have your oven on all night. dcarch

I don't know how clean you can get vegetable by washing and brushing. Yes, you can get a lot of visible dirt rubbed away, but plenty of germs will still be there. How many angels can dance on the head of a pin? How many bacteria can fit on the pointy end of a pin? about 150,000. An ultrasonic vegetable washer can be a lot more effective. dcarch Bacteria on a sharp pin https://mrbarlow.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/bacteria-on-a-pin.jpg

May be I am doing something wrong. I don't seal my bags. So once in a while I can check what's doing inside the bags or add more seasonings. I reuse my bags. I wash them in my clothes washer when I have an accumulation. dcarch

There can be a big difference between the two. Let say both are 1,000 watts. All the 1,000 watts from the induction will go into heating up the cookware. With resistance heating element, 1/2 of the 1,000 watts is wasted into radiant heat in heating up your kitchen instead of the cookware. dcarch

It seems to me that there will be a lot of improvements possible with induction cooktops and cookware which can minimize some of the common annoying pitfalls. 1. By varying the thickness or materials of the cookware bottom and/or the coil geometry of the cooktop magnetic coil, the induction induced "Eddy current" of the cookware can flow in a way that can give better heat distribution. 2. By applying electronic design similar to PWM (Pulsed Width Modulation) for power tools, the cooktop heating power/temperature controls can be more useful. 3. If you go to youTube, you will find plenty of videos of hobbyists DIY using not too complicated electronics to concoct induction heaters to melt copper, aluminum, etc, not just magnetic metals. dcarch

Looks like the Breville FP is a direct drive induction motor machine. Fractional horsepower induction motors are the simplest mechanical electrical devices with only one moving part, i.e. the rotor. The rotor is typically dynamically balanced. They tend to run very silent. However, higher horsepower induction motors can be a little more complicated. They incorporate additional components to reduce power draw when starting. For instance, they can have switches controlled by centrifugal weights to turn on and off. Those can make noise when the motor starts and stops. dcarch

I don't know. I am guessing myself. The OP has not come back to tell us. But I think the base looks like this: It has jaws to crimp bottle caps when the two levers are pushed down. dcarch

Tip #8 - Broken MW is worthless. However, you can remove the transformer, it can be sold on eBay for $40 to $60. Hobbyists like to use it for many projects, such as a spot welder. Tip #9 - If you are throwing away your MW, save the glass platter. Most of the time it's interchangeable with other MWs, in case you break the new one. dcarch
