  1. Mine doesn't, and it's only a Frigidare. I gotta believe a GE profile is better. And besides, for the amount of drinks you are likely to make using crushed ice, it saves on buying and toting a blender.
  2. This is the kind of information that I have come to expect from eGullet. I have just filled a 1 gallon ziplock with those little half moons of ice and some corks. If this works I will immediately notify my father, the King of Cocktails (this is not always a good thing, trust me) and let him know. Paranoia about ice usage and supply is an overwhelming worry in his life. On the other hand, I suppose that Canadians should be experts on this subject. It's going to be 96 here today, so what do I know about ice? ← Just make sure the corks are dry. Edited to add: Like butter tarts, this must be a Canadian thing. For the hell of it, I just called three canadian friends and told them about this. They all said "well yeah, duh". I then called a girlfriend in Chicago, who said "you're kidding me, right?"
  3. Dave, if that fridge has an ice maker, it likely has an option for crushed ice. Save the refrigerator ice for when you want a drink with crushed ice and use it then. It won't be blender crushed ice, but it will certainly work.
  4. I'm telling you it works. I've tested this with bags of ice without corks and bags with corks. Invariably, the bags of ice without corks stick together. The ones with corks do not. Try it. Seriously.

    Dry ribs

My husband has a hankering for dry ribs. We've had these at various times in different restaurants but they seem to be fading from many menus. So I'd make them for him if I could figure out how to make them. The ones I've seen have usually been cocktail size. Any ideas? Of course, if you have a recipe, consider putting it into ReceipeGullet
  6. We have one of these and they are simply fabulous for travel. We keep ours stocked for trips in the RV and it keeps bottles and things from rolling around the RV and it's easily portable. Get one. You won't regret it. I'm sorry, but there are just some things that you gotta have. The proper glassware is essential, although acrylic is fine and that is what we use in the RV. But drinking a martini out of a coffee cup or a glass of wine out of styrofoam just doesn't do it for me. A proper glass is just part of the overall enjoyment of a good cocktail. Just buy bags of ice. If you've got a cooler, or can delegate one or more of your family members to bring coolers, then dump the ice in there, which also has the advantage of keeping the beer nice and cool. Freezing ice cubes can take a while, and you could be left iceless when you most want some. Also, if you are going to store ice cubes in a ziplock bag, start saving wine corks now. Putting a few of them into a bag of ice keeps the cubes from sticking together.
  7. Beef Coffee Booze Pretty much sums up my life. If coffee and booze don't count, then: Beef cheese potatoes

    Cole Slaw

Asian Coleslaw. This ends up being nice and tangy even with the honey or maple syrup. You can cut back on either of them if you like. This is my go to coleslaw for taking to pot lucks and parties. It tends to disppear fairly quickly.

    Dinner! 2005

Looks lovely. And I covet that stone!
  10. Hawk's Landing at the Marriot World, in Orlando is absolutely outstanding for steaks.
  11. I would be so tempted to mix the tzaziki sauce with the ground lamb for moistness, then grill.
  12. Just received word that the smoker is on backorder, so it's unlikely to be here in time for Father's day. Oh well, we can always make it a Canada Day celebration! Just gives me more time to get the right supplies.
  13. For the curious, Beer Burgers. You can do these one of the two ways specified. Either way, both are moist, and delicious.
  14. Beer Burgers Simple, yet oh so good! 2 lb ground sirloin 1 shallot, med, chopped 1/2 c beer, lager preferably salt and pepper Mix the beef and the shallot lightly together. Form patties and chill for a minimum of two hours. When ready to cook, heat a cast iron frying pan over med high heat. Use a little (very little) olive oil to coat the bottom of the skillet. Place the patties in the skillet, and use a large spoon to make a deep indentation in each pattie. Fill each indentation with beer. By the time you are ready to flip the burgers, the beer will have been absorbed into the patty. Alternatively, you can mix the beer, beef and shallot together, chill and grill over medium coals or heat on the BBQ. Keywords: Beef, Main Dish ( RG1302 )

  16. We are divided. Ryan and I yes, Don no cheese.
  17. The beauty of the PB recipe is that almost any spice works very well with it. And what might be in beer burger? I've got ground beef in the fridge and was going to give the beanut butter burgers a shot tonight... but if there's a beer alternative, I'd love to know about it. Beer...beef...good. ← Beer burger recipe tomorrow! I put scallions in the last time I made them. They worked well. Ginger, most definately. And no, they don't really need cheese, but I like cheese on my burgers.
  18. Congrats! Trust you also stocked up on wood chunks, Kingsford briquettes and that you'll have an un-trimmed brisket or bone in butt on hand for Father's Day. Also trust that you will take over some of the smoking duties! ← No, I don't have any of those things yet, but I'm working on them! And of course, I'm going to learn to do the smokin' too!
  19. The deed is done. Shhhh. Father's Day, here we come.
  20. Amazon if you're in the States.
  21. I see it's available at Home Depot. Shhhhh......
  22. Well of course I do. Hubby just doesn't know it yet. Think subliminal thoughts everyone.
  23. Geesh fifi. I'd never fit that into my yard. A WSM?
  24. Perhaps I'll make it a "father's day" present.
  25. You're right. Ok, point me in the right direction for the best smoker threads!
