  5. We had drinks and desserts the other night. One of the awesome drinks we had was made with vodka, rose water and raspberry. I believe they called it h2. Does anyone know how I can try to remake the drink at home?
  6. I don't know if this is funny or sad... 24 Prince Also, if this has ever been discussed, I apologize, but if you already own your own restaurant, why go on Top Chef. Does anyone else think that the negative attention Nikki is getting going to hurt her in the end?
  7. What about "As Good As it Gets" with Jack and Helen Hunt. The scene in the restaurant is priceless, especially if you've waited tables. MELVIN (calling) Two crab dinners and pitcher of cold beer. (to Carol) Baked or fries? CAROL Fries. MELVIN (calling) One baked -- one fries. STARTLED WAITER (shouting back) I'll tell your waiter.
  8. Providence in LA Craft in LA Campanile in LA Pizzeria Mozza in LA Charlie Palmer's Steakhouse in Las Vegas First Crush in San Francisco Copley's in Palm Springs Desert Sage in La Quinta CA Lucky's in Montecito Town Hall in San Francisco I realize that many of these places are not breaking down culinary boundaries, and most are not comparable to others on the these lists, but all have been memorable in on way or the other.
  9. I am currently reading Flash in the Pan: Life and Death of an American Restaurant by David Blum. So far, it's a great read, and I'm only half way through. Although, I admit that I would not pay the asking price on Amazon. Also, just finished two really great books by Kimberly Witherspoon and Peter Meehan. Both are short stories of the world's greatest chef's. The first is called How I Learned to Cook, the second, Don't Try this at Home. If you have not read these, do yourself a favor and pick them up.
