  2. looking for advice.. i have tried the rinsing my rice a few times and draining it 1 cup rice to 1 1/2 c water method (all tried with jasmine rice and plain rice) and it turns out soggy i boil it till it bubbles cover it for 20 min then take it off heat for another or 30 also tried a 1 to 1 ratio made the same way and it STILL is clumpy and soggy is there anyway to get rice semi dry and seperated nicely in the same way chinese restaurant rice is? there must be a way without buying a rice cooker-i dont want to because i make rice only 1 or 2 times a week thanks for any ideas
  3. is this show even ON anymore? i havent seen it for awhile (i must admit i have not looked for it either but i scan the channels alot and it never is there but RR - or should i say Mizz Deen and company are always there)

  5. Hi i am planning to make a Mediterranean fish soup (julia child recipe) that calls for 1 C onions and 1 C leeks can i substitute 2 cups onions or would that not "make" the dish? it also calls for making a rouille-i will probably omit the pimentos can you store a rouille for a few days ? i think there is a video of this at pbs's julia site but it says it is lo-fat http://www.pbs.org/juliachild/default.html (with graham kerr) going to watch it now
  6. oops! (hmm...may there should be...) actually i am quite happy with the mixer it is a beautiful machine
  7. the 600 series doesnt have a tilt back feature-i find this quite a bad omission what is the best ka mixer that has the up and down lever for the bowl as well as the tilt back? or is there one? thanks
  8. anyone have any luck growing them inside? my problem....we have no windowsills! s
  9. I saw that too. If I had any chance of having space for one, I'd buy it in a second. Unfortunately, I don't, so I'll be letting this deal pass me by ← i did take the deal and bought the licorice one for 209 (after $50) rebate good thing i did the price on that color is now $360 today! the only color left at that price is meringue which is a pretty color... if anyone wants to get one at that price-it is only good for the next 17 hrs fyi thanks alana for the awesome tip! s
  10. thanks i will buy a bag (aka sack bitday gbalert! haha) of these sounds well.... good! s
  11. thanks for the feedback i only want a breadmachine/mixer because it saves time and i MUCH prefer how it comes out over storebought bread hands down (and it is less expensive than buying bread) i always like to make my own when i can-i totally like the whole bread making by hand experience very much but i want the option of fresh bread that is less time consuming and better all around than store bought for daily consumption. sammi
  12. that is an awesome deal-i like the licorice rather than meringue those are the only 2 colors at that great a price but that is OK (the zojirushi bread machine is $170 so...) thanks i think i will get this for christmas plus if you spend over $25 in the home store at amazon you get a free 1 year sub to bon appetit gourmet or domino i am thinking gourmet-not sure tho... opinions which one of the 3 magazines is best? thanks for all the info this is great! s
  13. i had an old bread machine that was awesome at making dough and made a decent baked loaf when i wanted one it was an oster i think.... anyway the lining in the breadpan has started flaking off into my dough and needless to say i wont bake another loaf in it it is headed for the trash.... question is do i buy another bread machine (i use it 90% of the time for making dough for other things) or get that super fantastic kitchenaid that is really expensive but makes dough and does alot of other useful things... ??? btw i am not sure what kitchen aid models these days are expandable (sausage grinder, pasta maker etc) and would appreciate some advice would rather put $100 into a kitchenaid than another bread machine that wont do the work
  14. no but i have had turkeys with feathers still stuck in the wings etc from an old farmin gbook (i used to love to read them) singe the spots with a match or lighter if they stay that is part of the charm of having a "REAL" turkey s
