date places have dark little corners where you can get busy with yo' girl.

obviously it's too late for my response, but i'd say that there is no dress code for 99% of NJ restaurants. i'd probably wear a jacket at the ryland inn, but short of that i don't give it much thought...as mrs tommy and anyone who's ever dined with me will attest to.

and rendering it a McDoughy mess. tasty yes. doughy definitely. i'll try the double cheeseburger (but don't double the cheese) next time.

looking at your picture there i see that your arms are very short. that's not saying much for that crab. at any rate, the lack of windows certainly is strange. and i swear, for the longest time, it didn't even say "restaurant" on the outside! not a very welcoming building.

OMG, i forgot all about fried bologna sandwiches!! but now the thought seems mildly disgusting. i think i used to put ketchup on bologna. ugh.

i just found out that there is a store in NJ (probably across the country as well) called Chef Central that offers knife sharpening. i'll be going this weekend, as my knives are about as sharp as a wet noodle.

it would also be incredibly easy to get around the 1 vote per 24 hr rule. whatever they use is pretty sound. -
we are just two peas in a pod. ;)

finally got here last night. unfortunately, i was full from dinner. but i couldn't pass up the opportunity to go in, as there was no one there! had 2 of those cheese burgers. onions pickles catsup. a perfect burger except for the bun . i think the bun to burger ratio was a bit on the high side. the sandwich had a doughy quality, which is a shame. otherwise, it was very good. i'll go back, but hopefully i'll be either: 1) drunk 2) hung over. i think the above 2 states would elevate these burgers to greatness.

i disagree. that's just not true, apparently, or people wouldn't put skim milik in their coffee. but then again, i don't have very strong feelings about coffee either way, other than that my skim milked filled coffee neither tastes nor looks like dishwater.

i certainly walked away thinking it was a strange place, and one that didn't want my money. decent food for the most part, and a cool room. oh well. too many other places to try and return to.

i'll see if i can get you on the guest list. although, i don't think those fat 200% alc. zins would really do much for the cuisine at china 46. with that said, i'd be more than happy to slug a bottle back in the parking lot.

i like when tony smokes at the table. that's cool.

let's just cut to the cheese: rosie, bring 20 bottles of turley. thank you. tommy

i don't even think it would be that much. either way, that doesn't sound like a lot of fun for those involved! we'll figure sumthin out.

does anyone know if there is bus service that can get our NYC friends there if necessary? i did some cursory investigation, but i don't know the area that well to be of any real service.

you crack me up. yeah, i was going to bring an "extra" in case ppl get curious about what i am drinking. i'll be like, here, take some, but not from *my* bottle! did i mention that i'm an only child?

at the risk of sounding anti-social, i'd say that suggesting that there will be a variety, that is to say, suggesting that there will be sharing, might not be accurate in this type of situtation. if i bring a bottle that i know i want, and 3 of my egullet friends want to try some, that doesn't leave me with much. now i'm reaching over the table for a little of this and a little of that, just to get through dinner. it all goes in the same glass, which is absurd to begin with. additionally, i certainly don't like all wines, and i bet some of those will show up. what i'm trying to say here is that it might be better to suggest "bring what YOU want to drink". if there is interest, perhaps we can have an egullet wine tasting party somewhere to satiate those desires. but for a dinner with the possibility of 15 to 30 people, i'd say just bring what you want to drink, and assume you'll be drinking what you bring. how was that? do i sound like a creep?

fantastic article!!!! wow. i dare not send that to my father, as he says i'm out of my head to say that sea salt is so much better than the shaker crap. however, i stand by my impression that shaker salt, at least on the the tongue, has more of a metallic taste than kosher or sea. whether that's due to size, shape, or my pompous culinary beliefs, that's just the way it is. i use kosher salt for just about every application.

sorry rosie, i totally misinterpreted your post. we also have a corkscrew in the car. in fact, not only for restaurants, but for my parents and relatives houses, who for the most part aren't wine drinkers. they have the most archaic corkscrews that i've ever seen. makes me want to gouge my eyes out with the bloody things. never again will i be caught with one of those cheap "butterfly" things, or whatever they're called.

if i could fit inside of white manna i'd love to try it. however, every time i drive past it's a-holes to bellybuttons in there. i can't deal with crowds and chaos when i'm hungry.

and...what does that have to do with the price of tea in china? ;)
