  1. indeed liza, i've been there several times. good place. narrow though. ;)
  2. yes, i don't live in the city, so the week is better for me. also, i wouldn't want to "waste" a weekend night with a bunch of strangers. also, i try not to drink to much on weekends as i like getting up early and making the most out of the day. yes, that means i get most of my serious drinking done during the week. liza, is the international the place that is long and narrow?

much appreciated. you are all very helpful.
  4. ok, so the plan now is to handle this all via private email. on the down-low.
  5. you boys are very thoughtful. what do you think about Chris Cornell from Soundgarden joining Rage Against the Machine? pretty bizarre match if you ask me. oh yeah, and bob parker is a poopy-head.

    Pizza Stone

you people are brilliant. i knew that all i had to do was throw a question out and check the next day and viola! hell, i've never even heard of the term "peel" before, but apparently you folks are all over it! i shall buy a stone. and a peel. as far as toppings, Jinmyo, i really don't know because i've never made one. however, i will say that i like the following on restaurant pizzas: fresh basil, fresh tomato, artichokes. not a big fan of the meats actually. and yes, thin crispy crust. now i'm hungry!! thanks again.
  7. so i'm tempted to buy a pizza stone. i'm pretty sure that i can make better pizza than any restaurant. however, i'm thinking i need a stone. do these things actually work? is it worth the expense? any pointers? bueller?
  8. what day of the week is the 18th? i was thinking a thursday night. maybe i'm nuts. the village seems like the logical spot. are we talking about a bit of a "crawl", or just hanging in one spot. chumley's is quite good for a group, imho. however, it's really only beer, so maybe not. hmmm, so many choices.

    Burgundy

i'm going to drink this one now. once i'm a little more familiar with some bottles i'll buy and hold. there are several wine stores i could go to. i suppose that altogether there would be a decent selection. perhaps i'll take your advice and post of few that i see. thanks for the input.
  10. a-HA!! i've found my niche. vacuum cleaners. soon, i will control all aspects of floor cleaning. my influence will reach far and wide. [insert evil laugh]
  11. let us not read *too* much into that.

    Burgundy

i have an 80 dollar gift certificate to a wine store, and i want to use it to by something that i normally wouldn't. that is to say, a bottle over 25 dollars! i love red burgundy, but really have little experience with them. any suggestions as far as what to look for (region, cru, year, etc) when shopping for a bottle in the 80 dollar price range? additionally, if it's possible to get something decent for around 50 or 60, i'd just as soon get 2. please do not pelt me with rocks and garbage. i'm sure there is something nice out there waiting for me. any help would be appreciated.
  13. they clobbered most for poor warranties. and apparently customer support for the 1982 Château Lafite-Rothschild is just completely useless. you'd better hope that one don't break down, because the availability of replacement parts is next to nil!
  14. in essence, it proves quite helpful to you as well. interesting how that works!
  15. hmmm. i'll have to give that one some thought! ;) i rather like the points system. makes me feel like one of the crowd. kinda like a warm and comfortable flock of sheep.
  16. the first round is on me! (within reason, of course)

    Esca

i've eaten at the bar, so i can't really speak to portion sizes. i'd imagine they are not much different from other restaurants of that calibre. i'd say that an app, pasta, and entree would be too much.

the ridgefield store had shrimp out as well. 3.99 a lb. they were nothing exciting, but were probably fine for most applications. i bought some and ground them into my spring roll filler.
  19. has anyone heard of Woo Jung in pal park? actually, this is the place we were planning on. they all sound the same!!!
  20. ooops!!! and i was planning on going there with a group of friends in a couple of weeks. perhaps we should rethink these plans?
  21. i was just about to say that, and you took the words right out of my mouth. although, you stated it more elequently than i would have. puck fair is a decent enough bar. a reasonable crowd generally. o'neills on 3rd ave at about 45th has a good crowd as well. good bartenders. a bunch of irish folk own and run the place. the daytime bartenders are worth their weight in gold.
  22. are you talkin ta ME??? i says, are you talkin ta ME!?!?!? you betta not be talkin ta me, or fughetaboudit. "uncle" tommy
