well it only took a little over a year for me to try this place. we ordered take-out. bottom line is i might go there to give it a proper try, and i might even order take-out again. the chicken curry dish was decent enough, although i would have prefered a "wetter" version with more onion. the spring and summer rolls were quite good. in fact, i liked the spring rolls more than i like most spring rolls. they are probably number 2 on my list, number 1 being Little Saigon, and the rest being horrible for the most part (i think i prefer this style of wrapper, although i haven't figured out what it is). the pork over vermicelli was a disgrace. the pork was not marinated much, if at all, and tasted like yesterday's cardboard. the saving grace was the fact that i mixed the nuoc cham with the lettuce, cucumber, and noodle, and made a nice dish with that. those 4 dishes were about 30 bucks. not too bad, but more than little saigon i think. although only by a few dollars. they gotta do something about the parking. the lot holds about 5 cars, and i had to back out of the driveway as it's too small to turn around. oh, and, the spring rolls came with mint. perhaps they found some.

you've never gotten soapy water in your mouth when washing your face? i guess i gotta keep my mouth shut more often.

from most of the "reports" i've heard, it's more than a perception thing, but rather a reaction thing. assuming that might be the case, i'd like to know what it is we're talking about here. fwiw, i can understand the "soapy" flavor of it. however, it's not very strong to me. i suppose i'm a super-tasting-occasional-smoker.

we need a quasi food-scientist to explain what is actually happening with this. there is surprisingly very little on this subject (other than opinions on message boards) on google regarding the soap issue.

i wonder if cilantro tastes better to those who think it tastes like soap if it's mixed with something acidic, like lime juice. soap is generally basic, as opposed to acidic, so i'm thinking there might be a correlation btwn the amount of acidity on the tongue and the taste. but then again, i'm dumb.

My opinion is that the wine program should never exceed the ability of those who administrate it. but in reality it often does. i'm just trying to image how this role reversal might work in practice. i can't come up with anything.

Please bring them to the pig event on the 21st. We can all have fun jumping on them and getting them to squirt in all directions. i'll add this to my current list of children's activities (lawn darts, firecrackers, packets of duck sauce).
