Beautiful house. I could not locate a single roaster the other day do did lamb shank in the crock pot. Still eating it days later - delicious. I did not even bother browning first. Simplicity can excel.

Yes that is quite a generous "Look Inside" - thanks for noting it. I am inspired to pay. I have a pump eggplant. Ha I meant to type play but typed pay - the unconscious mind? Just edited.

A book I think I would ask library to order. To peruse and get ideas. Anyone have thoughts.? https://www.amazon.com/Ottolenghi-Flavor-Cookbook-Yotam/dp/0399581758

Doubt it. We have plenty of pineapple varieties. I abhor pink - so off putting. Wonder if it bleeds like a beet? I remember when Del Monte came out with the Gold - I did buy it as they competitively priced it. Kids liked the sweetness; I thought it too one note. https://www.supermarketnews.com/archive/del-monte-goes-gold-new-pineapple More recently in 2018 they launched this one with a, to me, nonsense rationale. I assumed most were via container ship but there is Air Pineapple https://farmfolio.net/articles/air-pineapple-soars-past-shipment-record-in-panama/#:~:text=By using air freight to,the lengthy transatlantic shipping process.

Oh yes fake banana flavoring sends me to the regurgitation bin. What I notice in the US is more a sickly sweet vomit smell like the front lawn after a frat party.

Maybe a different packaging system. As I showed mine come in a tin - not in packets, and as noted stay crisp forever. We had a tin in our work area at the Botanic Garden. I was the only complete fiend. The rest preferred homemade chocolate or oatmeal or whatever was brought in The gingers did not go soft.

It is hot, I am sluggish. Later I remembered Jonathan Gold's review of our beloved Mariscos Chente (Coni's) where he describes with enthusiasm: But you can't leave without at least a taste of the tacos stuffed with smoked marlin and cheese A palate we trusted.

Bayer bought Monsanto. Amy Schorr was the procurement coordinator for Bayer and is now sourcing manager for Del Monte. Tangled webs. (per her LinkedIn page)

I have seen this funny money business in 501(c)3 foundations. Sickening but greed.... As to prestige - I personally do not see the clout of the internet superceding something like these awards. Hot stinky mess and unfortunate for deserving people in the industry. As to inequality etc - whole other ball of wax - not to be undone on the fly.

Now I remember. What came to mind was the old American folk song: "The old grey mare, she ain't what she used to be". Change to grey matter in my case https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Old_Gray_Mare

@gulfporter Hesitant on the combo as I just want that gorgeous salmon straight up!

@weinoo I am with you guys on popcorn. I use the organic Kroger brand but if they are out I go with Orville. Someone gifted me those colored ones. Lots of duds and pretty chewy. The ones on the kernel I tried once (a gift) and since I can't recall the result - guessing not memorable, but probably an interesting experiment. I was surprised when reading the Laura Ingalls Wilder series how often popcorn popped up as a happy normal family thing. (did I just type "happy normal family" on the prairie- heat is getting to me?!

I always have to smile when @shain says something like a few spices (incl. caraway, fennel, paprika, coriander). That is more than the average person has a working knowledge of. Everything always looks and sounds extremely appealing Oh and I still want to see that pantry stocked with magic.

Current pineapples are not complex and sweet enough with an acid element? That is their beauty. Good grief Charlie Brown. Throw money at a need you create. How dumb do they think consumers are?

Not sure who you are addressing. @Franci with the iguanas = daytime reptiles. My issue - I can't have fences other then split rail - not exactly a barrier and too much acreage. The cams though are super fun. I posted the whole interview in the OT bird topic but here is a snippet Margaret: I have told you in email, but I’ll say it out loud here: I also, this year, besides getting a new pair of binoculars during the beginning of the pandemic, I also got some trail cameras and got some help from a local expert in setting them up, learning and understanding how to set them up and what I was looking for and so forth. And that’s been another way of engaging, and especially with the nightlife. Who’s out at night—hysterical pictures of not one set, but four sets of eyeballs in the dark, in infrared light glowing in the dark, and it’s like… [Many raccoon eyes at Margaret’s, below; date and time are of course wrong.] Julie: And it literally laugh-out-loud moments where I have lots of fun with the trail cams, like coyotes approaching skunks and skunks then raising the tail and backing up at the coyote. You’re just like, “Oh, I know what’s going on in this picture.” Just laugh-out-loud moments. Or when the deer comes up to lick the camera. It’s just so fabulous. v

I am sure you have googled. Ths one seems rational. As someone who loses lots of fruit to other garden animals - it seem harder you try the more clever they become. I spent years putting netting over stone fruit trees which is a pain. The birds figure out how to cling and get an even better grip and the opossums and raccoons manipulate their way in. The horrid squirrels pick the oranges and pull the seeds out. What a waste. Rats on the under ripe avocados etc.... I would not go crazy. Let them have something if they really want it. Again I would talk to locals - neighbors and co-op to see what they experience in your area. Iguana mole or tamal? https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/plant-problems/pests/animals/iguana-control.htm#:~:text=Iguana Damage, and walkways in the garden. https://la.eater.com/2019/10/22/20925641/sabores-oaxaquenos-la-restaurant-koreatown-menu-iguana-mole-oaxacan

I would do dwarf lemon in a large pot rather than in ground to make you happy. Pitaya can hang if you have a spot for it - kinda wild critter that rambles & flops - not tidy. They are cactus and like sun of course. I've propagated them. Not fussy. , The spacing notes from others above are sensible. I always suggest people go to their local reputable independent garden center for advice as they know your area. Looks like that is what you are doing. Have fun. Plants are not "plug and play" so 100% success is rare.

@Franci How do you do your crispy tofu? Looks pretty good.

@Duvel your hike and meal look great. What type of dough did you use for the onion cake? Also your bowls incite envy

Interesting with cucumber at top of list. Makes sense in the relish world. Thanks!

The heat rating looks "blazing" but I'd try it from the discount rack. As a US resident I always find it amusing to see brands globally that for years before internet I thought were kind of local to the states. So a chunky relish almost like a chunky salsa? Other ingredients?

Nice job on the skin. Wondering how tender the broccoli gets as the color is quite green tough I see lovely char spots..

I like the folding style on your dumplings. My hands are not so nimble anymore so looks simpler than pleating, yet appealing. The fig/cheese combo

That is what I said - she gets them at Cost Plus World Market around Christmas - the link was just to show the cookie. The tin is really attractive too. I found an old one up in my sister's closet today as I was looking for a document. Lid too far back to reach. Niece had it stuffed with thin gloves that go inside your ski gloves.
