  1. If your bananas are not squishy enough, try this: Take an unpeeled banana and gently squeeze it all over, using your fingertips. It will soon feel like a bag full of jelly. While you could then peel it to get the goo out, it is more fun to cut the bottom off and squeeze the goo out as if it were toothpaste.
  2. I think the lack of responses says it all. I have lived in Orange County for 17 years and have yet to find a Thai restaurant I like. My major complaint: sugary sweet sauces.
  3. Mallet, I see you are from Halifax Nova Scotia. You are lucky not to be a resident of Halifax County, North Carolina. They have been overrun with industrial hog farms. Some of impacted people are the descendents of the Tillery family's slaves; some of them are named Tillery too.   4. The trend is a big tease. It makes me want a cupcake. I love the first thought, the first sight, even the first bite of a cupcake. Then the disappointment hits. Too sweet. Not interesting. Not worth the calories/sugar buzz. I put it down, and am left still wanting a cupcake.
  5. I just returned to Berlin after a 10 year absence. Things have indeed changed in many ways. I have not been out to eat yet so can't recommend any restaurants. But I would like to defend the food: Now, as then, the meats and vegetables, even at the local corner grocery, taste much much better than what I can get in my fancy and expensive foodie shops in southern California. I fried some lowly pork chops tonight. No watery discharge! They browned right up and tasted, well, like they came from pork chop heaven.
