Interview with Julia: http://www.accessatlanta.com/blogs/content...ologies_fo.html

I started some a month ago, but I haven't used them yet. Also, I've never had them -- I just happened to have a bunch leftover.
-
here it is! ← That's actually not it -- the scoop was long like that, but had a spoon at the bottom, for scooping. I really need to find this...

I saw an avocado scoop in a recent Williams & Sonoma catalog, but I can't find it on their site now. I guess spoons are too difficult to use?

Madrid Restaurants: Reviews & Recommendations
Reignking replied to a topic in Spain & Portugal: Dining
You're right -- it was a ghost town where I was living -- but that wasn't downtown. I enjoyed this restaurant -- http://www.lagloriademontera.com/ -- love having Google Maps, since I didn't remember the name of it. I was there 3 years ago. It is just off of Gran Via, near that metro stop. I remember it being inexpensive, too (important for someone at the tail end of a grad school internship). The web site says they are open year-round. -
Must have: Romano cheese, English muffin Nice to have: Pesto, Carmelized onions
-
Yes, he was interviewed...but you're right, the stage shot was strange. Maybe he wasn't used to all 'dem fancy lights and stuff I wouldn't be surprised if JAG is hired as a cook, somewhere...perhaps by Flay.

It's not like someone earlier in this thread, who revealed the alleged winner

My wife missed her Air France flight, and they gave her a toiletry bag, as well. Inside: a very large t-shirt, toothpaste, toothbrush and...condom.

I thought it was just me. I love the slight differences from country to country, and what you can find in a supermarket that you can't here. This wasn't at a grocery store, but at a restaurant by the sea in Marseille. My wife and I saw down for lunch, and I ordered a crepe with marinara sauce and beef. Or so I thought. My wife asked me "Are you sure you want that?" When the plate came, with crepe, sauce, and egg, I realized that I mistook ouef for boeuf (and I do not like runny eggs). I should've just let my French-speaking wife order for me. I made the metric-system error once, as well, but I immediately knew that I was wrong by the look on the face of the butcher and another shopper.

Perhaps this is a good place to mention that the AJC came out with their Best of the Big A, including the Moroccan restaurant Imperial Fez winning Best Indian food. These reader awards do a great disservice to the city and the dining scene.

Two things: 1) We found out that Rory is a serial reality show contestant 2) The winner was someone that a) tried to quit and b) only made the final because someone had to quit. Probably not the way FN would've wanted it They should've done those bios before -- it gave me a better insight into them than a wedding cake decorating contest would.
-
Wow are they cheap on the prizes -- Hell's Kitchen winners get better prizes!
-
That was Casey, who had to try something else and ended up with the coffee-molasses sauce.
-
Actually, she would've been better off explaining why she was making baked eggs (an easy French dish that you shouldn't be scared of) than brushing it off as "something fancy-shmancy that you don't need to know or care about.

You're exactly right, and it is evident in that recent Food Network article on how they want to brand their own pots and pans now, too. They want to cater to the largest crowd -- the stay-at-home mom category that is watching their late afternoon shows like Sandra Lee and Rachel and is more interested in how to get food done quickly than in learning advanced or complicated techniques. You know what would be fascinating, for me, even just for a special? A show on molecular gastronomy. It seems to me that its demonstration would translate very well to television. But FN isn't going in that direction. Glad they have ICA and Alton.

Maybe he thought "cassoulet" meant "little casserole"...
-
I'll vote for neither, as I'd only watch a show by Jag. I'd say they told him that he had to resign, and that's how he handled it. It was interesting that, in the explanation flashed on the screen, they mentioned how he didn't come clean in a press interview. Had he, would he be safe? Maybe Flay will hire him It seems as Jag could've benefited the most from this show, too... Surprising to see all 3 do rather well on RR's show.

Does it have to be there? Or are you traveling from elsewhere? Could you drive?
-
Don't forget the odd-colored french fries and ketchups, oriented for kids... Yes, the red in red velvet is strictly from food coloring.
-
Thank God your punchline wasn't "But it was a Sunday, and Georgia is still has ancient blue laws preventing me from buying wine on Sundays." Whew.

These were taped a while ago, so I doubt the military career embellishing will be a factor. However, once I saw that they had finally filled that Latino slot with Simply Delicioso, I too thought he had no chance. Then I watched it this morning -- she basically made a Mexican casserole as her main dish while I tried to listen over music that was too loud and intrusive.
-
I was having this discussion last night, but with regards to Red Velvet Cake. How is "red" a flavor? Could I make Green Velvet Cake and have the same cake?
-
Really? I've ever made a gelatin-fruit concoction, so I've never come across that, but that seems very important. I have to give you credit for that -- maybe they should edit the episode to include that fact. God knows they use voice overs for most of the elimination, anyway.

Here's the AJC's review of Element.
