Ipod and Starbucks hook up with new iPod Touch: The exclusive deal with Starbucks will let iPod Touch and iPhone users have automatic free Wi-Fi access to search for or buy digital tunes featured in U.S Starbucks stores that offer wireless Internet access. The Starbucks partnership begins at 600 stores in New York and Seattle on Oct. 2. In November, it will be available at 350 stores in the San Francisco Bay Area, and by the end of next year it will be in all Starbucks with Wi-Fi nationwide. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20606900/wid/11915829?GT1=10439

Truth be told: Where've you eaten lately? (Part 3)

Last 3 meals: Keg Whistler: nice steak Provence Marinaside: great pasta Silks at Hastings race course: waffles were good -
I think i saw a blurb on this on TV once. It kinda looked good, especially on a hot day. I think they take icecream and a bunch of toppings and mix it all together on a chilled marble slab so it stays cold. ← Isn't that just Cold Stone Creamery but with a different name? ← Different company but similiar concepts: http://www.coldstonecreamery.com/

It actually escaped from the Untied Arab Emirates: http://www.marbleslab.com/locations/international.html and Ontario, USA and now coming to BC.

Fat Guy: I own three dining guide websites and I like to link to the url of the menu page of the restaurant. The reasoning is if the restaurant changes their menu frequently or have daily specials then everyone has up to date information. kevfoodvan

Thanks for the feedback. I'm tempted to say "yes" and leave it at that. I'm going to wait for a subsequent visit once Metro has "officially" opened to give a thorough run-down of the food. What I will say is the "by the ounce" options worked much better than I thought it would ... a perfect way to share lots of dishes amongst a group. I really enjoyed the vennison, gravalax (like butter), spot prawns (chili bean cassoulet!) and duck ... and the charcuterie plate featured cheese from the Islands (Gulf & Vancouver) which I really appreciated. We sat at the bar afterwards with Brian (and someone who I could have sworn was Earnest Borgnine) and listened to him talk the cooks through each new dish. It was at this point I realized how damn comfy the bar stools were! As Kate said upthread, the room isn't 100% yet (I wouldn't have noticed the missing bits unless Tim pointed them out to me) but even at 90% it's beautiful. The view out the north windows makes it one room where I won't mind going to an early dinner and once the deck opens, watch out Parkside! A. ←

So we both suck at grammar but back to the topic at hand: Did you try the food? Dangle your preposition much? Yep, those are the stools. The chairs in the dining room are trés comfy too. A. edited to correct my correction. My grammar sucks. ←

Grilling and BBQ in Western Canada
kevfoodvan replied to a topic in Western Canada: Cooking & Baking
I assume that everyone on the board will be competing against one another in the Canadian BBQ championships in Whistler? http://www.whistlerblackcomb.com/todo/even...l/bbqchamps.htm -
Thanks for the input so far guys, really helpful for someone who's always avoided seafood places. ←

Panda: What type of seafood is your Dad's favourite as that will narrow the choices down? Does it have to be downtown? kevfoodvan

The closet Anducci's would be the one on Cameron St. Also The Old Bavaria Haus in New West is another suggestion. Is the pasta place you are talking about Anducci's? - the portions are unspeakably huge! If you are up to trying Korean, Insadong (they have deep fried chicken wings with a sweet & spicy sauce that are pretty darned tasty) on North Rd and Lougheed. A little further away is Honwoori on Imperial and Kingsway. ←

Truth be told: Where've you eaten lately? (Part 3)
kevfoodvan replied to a topic in Western Canada: Dining
The last three places were: 1) The Fish House in Stanley Park for an amazing meal of clam chowder, prawn cocktail, salmon with mashed potatoes. 2) The Pear Tree in Toronto for a plain alfredo seafood pasta dish, that was very filling. 3) Finest at Sea: A 2 piece salmon with fries. Salmon was very nice will definitely go back. -
fava beans and a nice Chianti.

A few years back I was approached by an Earl's server at the Broadway location where they offered my wife and I an invitation to bring along 8 friends to see what Earls was all about. I took them up on their offer and spent close to 3 hours learning about their service, how the kitchen operated, there team effort in regards to having close to zero waste, etc. It was quite impressive of how everything seemed to run quite smoothly and they new exactly how much food was wasted at the end of each night and strived to have as little as possible. Does anyone know if this program still exists or if anyone else had been on a group tour like this?

How about IRecipe where everyone can swap recipes like music on Limewire.
