  1. That is an amazing amount of food to consume in 4 days - I can't imagine the calories and saturated fat. Looks fun though.
  2. This thread contains some of the fuuniest and patronising posts I've ever read on EG. Thanks you guys.
  3. My only comment would be that the prices seem to be creeping up verrrry rapidly. That's on both the food and wine front. Yep I know they are a business, yep I know they want to make money - but cripes, some of those increases in such a small time frame are a bit naughty. I've stopped recommending it to people wanting a well priced meal in the West End. Saying that - I've been a couple of times ( 2nd week and more recently) and have generally enjoyed the food. God bless expense accounts.
  4. Jesus - this bloody stinks! I tip a couple of dollars for a delivery amounting to about $10.00. Rusty nails huh? Nice. I'm never ordering a delivery dinner in NYC again.
  5. Er, it's about a 3 minute walk if you go to Nogent-le-Perreux RER stop. It's a very worthwhile trip from the city.
  6. Cheap steak house? Yeah, sure. Decent. No. Lugers is good - for an affluent couple. For a cheap family dinner? Not.
  7. I recently visited and thought "yeah, there could be some health issues with this food", but hey, it's 1 up from a street vendor, so what. My burger was fine, but in no way amazing and not worth more than a 10-15 minute wait. The fries were crap. There was a fly sucking on the sauce from the ketchup dispenser - I didn't bother.
  8. Have the suprise tasting. Makes the dinner an adventure. 2 weeks ago it was pretty stunning. The dining room is far far too cold though.
  9. They will start taking reservations from the 15th August for after the 4th September. Soft open tables by invitation only.
  10. The dining room at LCS is one of my favourites in the UK. The spacing of the tables is very good and some of the art is superb. I like the bar area - it's a nice place to wait for companions that may be coming from elsewhere, I'd also imagine it to be a nice space to take coffee after the meal. Quite franky, as long as though it is clean, I don't give a donkeys about the bathroom - I'm not dining in there after all. Service is always spot on, and Helen is a darling. The food is the best of its type in the UK, and of the best in Europe.
  11. From reading your comments, it sounds like you pretty much didn't enjoy it. Why on earth would you go back?
  12. That's just mean. Naturally, I'd rather the friend suffer than my wife and myself... ← Matt's right. Your mate obviously has no appreciation of fine food, so whats the point of wasting the money? Send him to Mc D's, and you and the missus go elsewhere. Foliage was nice a few weeks back. The Capital has dropped off my radar after an appalling meal earlier this year. You could possibly keep your mate satisfied at The Ivy.
  13. To complicate matters further, there are varieties of vinegar. For chips, I prefer the vinegar that has pickled the onions. I've also been told that vinegar is good for tired feet. Who knew?
  14. I love vinegar on chips, my mother swears by it to clean her windows. What do you use vinegar for? (Posted in the UK thread as the UK is the highest consumer of vinegar).
  15. It's interesting that he describes it as "boring" too. FFS, it's supposed to be his passion. My one unmemorable meal at TA, and numerous recent mundane reports takes this place of my list.
  16. Be aware that Gordon Ramsay does not cook at any of the restaurants that carry his name. Nor will you see him remove his jacket.
  17. I've not been in, but through the window, those chairs look like torture devices. The menu appeals, but I really don't think I could face the chairs.
  18. It's a heavy meal, and the dishes don't flow. It's not all that seasonal.
  19. What an awful dis-jointed sounding menu. It's a shame really, because individually, some of the dishes look and sound very good. Glad I'm not going.
  20. Barbot is best pals with Bosi, Bosi is pals with Demetre - can't you call in a favour??
  21. I wouldn't describe him that way. Though middle-aged and experienced, he's considered a "young chef" because of his refreshing, buoyant approach to cooking and the food world. It's not how old you are, it's what you bring. Ledeuil, for instance, may be actually younger than Camdeborde but I'd personally place him in the "old" category. ← mmmm....I'm not so sure. We'll agree to disagree.
  22. Took the words outta my mouth. Jean Chauvel at Magnolias - I've been going here for 6 years, so hardly new. It also serves TOTALLY different food to L'Astrance. To call it "The next L'Astrance" is odd. Camdeborde is an old hand. Barbot perhaps could qualify, but once again, it's not like the place just opened - I've enjoyed the place for 5 years now. If a foodie Brazilian has heard of Heston, they will have heard of the others - especially considering the internet. IMHO is patronising to think they don't.
