  2. That's it! One of my favorites. Nobody's named the other cheese so I'll tell you. Its a Tomme. This particular one is a raw milk brebis. Lot & lots of flavor. ← looks like etorki
  3. bon ton makes small croissants ...i think
  4. I am going in early spring to view cheese shops. Anything new since the last post in march 2008?
  5. but what will I carry my olives home in then? Guess it will be my mouth? ← The plan is to eliminate plastic shopping bags. We haven't found an ideal alternative. Ideally, we'd like something made locally. If anyone has any suggestions, please PM me.

    Stollen

    Picked up two. thanks
  7. what fruit did you think those brightly colored lime green and florescent red chunks of stuff came from? the rutebega is like a filler, to keep the overall cost down. I think there is some fruit in there, but i don't know what ratio. Didn't there used to be a Dan-D-Pak store in Marpole? bet they have lots of interesting dried fruits.

    Stollen

My favorite stollen last year was the 4 seasons. I just called, and the person answering the phone said they are not selling them this year! ← Thanks for checking that out, even though the answer is disappointing. Any chance of Les Amis getting into the baking business? ← We used to do alot of baking for work when we were on 10th Ave, but not much anymore, except for ourselves. We've got lots of good recipes in our back pocket, so perhaps one day in the new store on Hastings...but that's a ways off. Allison suggested she might make some Stollen for the family.

  13. It wouldn't be Xmas eve dinner for us without having Tourtiere and a special bottle of wine. This year we'll have it with some Oka as always, maybe some Mont d'Or, antipasto and perhpas we'll try some Duchy tomato chutney on the side. We make our own tourtiere. Do others make their own, or do you buy it locally?
  14. Try VCC butcher department ← Joe, I think that doesn't exist any more... VCC shut down their meat cutting program in 2002. The only meat cutting program still running in BC is at Thompson Rivers in Kamloops. Re leaf lard, I'd ask Dave at Windsor Meats. ← I guess it's obious that I haven't been there for a while...
  15. Someone recently brought some to my house to make drinks. They bought the puree or juice at one of the italian stores.
  16. What about Antons Pasta Bar in Burnaby?
