  1. yes its called OTTAWA
  2. no jacket REQUIRED but keep in mind this city is fashionoble so dress to impress like they say cavalii rocks on a thursday night if you like a 'scene' here on this board there are many people that dont like cavalli and places like it, but this is a big part of montreal -see and be seen for late dining go to lemeac but there is less action than at cavalli THE MAIN = Rue St. Laurent
  3. a great caterer is owned by the boys from TAPEO they do a lot of work for my friend amazing food and service and good prices
  4. get gourmet they got it all right i just read it esp lesley did a good job thumbs up lesley i live in nyc as well as montreal and san francisco so i can tell you some tips believe me they got it all right except there is a lot of over-hyping but the places are perfectly chosen with a budget of $100 per person uSD = $250 per couple CAD you will be OK and splurging anywhere in the city go to joe beef go to club chasse go to schwartz pastries forget it - nyc is better cheese - we rule north america it is almost as good as france here reserve one day to walk and eat if you can deal with the cold walk up the main and eat your way thru the day it is a fun activitiy
  5. All will be revealed when you part with your $4.99. ← i guess jamie has a commission on the sale of the magazine why european? because of french speaking? this can be exotique for a tourist but has no impact on the local realities there is more better french in nyc than here anyway this is gourmet magazine so lets be serious
  6. witness the magic powers of the google gods Marche Latina - 185 St-Viateur W., 514 273-6561
  7. please invite me to this party for me the 6l yquem is for two events: big birthday (30, 40, 50, 60, 80, etc.) or to celebraste when you close a big big deal
  8. it is true the service is terrible and the lineups! oy vey mr bean if the meat is too salty then drink anotehr cherry coke - it works for me! today i got a pain parisien and pain levain baguette style from the bakery atwater market much better than before! maybe somebody is reading our little board
  9. mr bean let us not be too dramatic with terms like TORONTO-IZATION when was the list time you went there? a very vibrant scene of cheap eats and small joints owned by food lovers i agree that montreal should not become McMontreal but schwartz is good especialy since we are a tourist site here in north america to keep this city alive with good love and cash we need tourists. this is a fact. and these guys know and love schwartz it is like a landmark like mordecai richler or leonard cohen or auf der mar do not disrispect mr. bean the meat at schwartz is very fine and sweet

  14. WRONG competition = lower prices, good for consumer monopoly= higher prices, bad for consumer what is the incentive of the saq to charge lower prices? zero what is the incentive of the govt. for privatize and risk short-term revenues decreases? zero vive la belle province note to readers: today in the gazette there is an opinion to CLOSE THE SAQ and privatize enough is enough

  16. the wine mafia is dropping some prices thanks to the favored currency here is the list http://www.vinquebec.com/doc/prix-hb-fev06.txt some amazing deals like a $0.05 price drop on beaulieu wow!
  17. different strokes dont forget you went to moishes with your secret wine club - for the rest of us we have to pay big $ for their poor selection. for the steak at moishes is as good as the KEG. Very good, but not special.

  21. ahhhhhhh ok this make sense here we have to be satisy with tasting menu sans wine pairings for $100-$150 with wine it is another $150+ withSAQ prices too bad no corkage here
  22. such a nice man i heard he is retired
  23. the past is the past lesley i was not here so what can i say $100pp is not a lot of money for montreal - $300pp is too much. here $600 for 2 persons is never going to work -that is meal for 7 people in a great resto here nobody expects tasting menu for $40pp - that is ridiculous LT is a master; it takes a french man to show a great steak in NYC!
  24. Trotter is not who he used to be, this is very sad. one day i hope and i pray we will have a highlights festivale dedicate to sushi or japanese cuisine what is the news of the VIJ event and how do you buy a ticket>
  25. seems like the price for a good event is $300 this is a lot for montreal lesley maybe you can comment - is the prices high this year because no SAQ involvement with the festivale?
