  1. I've had the same experience as Steven. I didn't have quite as many books to unload, but needed to clean house. As he mentioned, cookbooks that I felt would go for a high price were selling for $.01 on Amazon. Yet there were books that I dug out of storage that, to my surprise, were going for as high as $80!! I have sold several high price books. In those cases, I shipped priority, vs. media mail, since I had already made quite a lot of money off of the sale. Since I am still relatively new to the seller process (about 100 sales) I am still paying for dly confirmation on all my books. I have only run into one problem, and that was a book that was damaged in transit. I have found selling on Amazon to be an easy way to sell books, and much more preferable than to have a yard sale and sell for perhaps $.50 each. Since I do have many, many books left that are still only going for a penny on Amazon, I will most likely sell this summer for cheap, just to get them out of the house.

    Food

I bought this on a whim last week and it reminded me of something I would have put together for a high school journalism class. The articles all seemed to be repeats from what you've read in other publications and nothing seemed original. I just felt the photography, writing, etc., was all very amateurish. I definitely won't be purchasing it again.
  3. I received mine in the mail yesterday. Despite having a full schedule for the next few days, I justified digging into this by telling myself that, considering the weight of the book, I would not only be educating and entertaining myself, but also working out at the same time. I'll just press it above my head a few times and call it my excercise for the day.
  4. I wouldn't count on it. In the past hour, I've checked several times and 2 different winners were listed.
  5. Chris - those PB & Js look fantastic! I've really been enjoying your blog this week and all your fabulous shots of the chocolates and pork, etc. You're a man of many talents!
  6. Oh - I remember that one and I ate there a few times, too. Nope, it's gone as well. Not sure what's in its place. I'm thinking **maybe** that's around where they just put a new student apt building and it has a Starbucks and a DP Dough on the bottom floor, and that took over where everything else used to be.
  7. I hope I'm not stepping on toes if I answer a question or two that was before Chris's time here. La Bamba went out of business many years ago and is now occupied by Mario and Luigi's. That's been in place there for at least 15 years, I believe. Chris - another question. I've seen that several restaurants in the area are now featuring pork from Hogs Galore, which is about 10 or so miles from here. Do you know anything about this outfit? Tried any of their pork offerings?
  8. Chris- Have you and your wife gone to Faccia Luna before? Their pizza is very good. Also, Otto's Brewpub is good, too. We try to stay away from the student places downtown, but we really like Otto's (food and beer) .
  9. Good morning Chris! Nice to see a blog of a "neighbor" - what local places are you planning to visit/shoot this week?
  10. I just read a review of this place recently and decided I need to go soon. Review is here: http://www.collegian.psu.edu/venues/2008/0...rving_auth.aspx I wasn't even aware it existed before I read this article. Sandy - the restaurant is in State College (PSU).
  11. I agree completely. I get tired of the chains and crappy dining places that only cater toward the inebriated college students. (Since I'm not one anymore, I can complain about them now. )
  12. Chris- did you see today's paper? The owners of Zola bought the Gamble Mill late last year. I am anxious to see what they do with it. We haven't been to Alto yet, but I definitely want to go soon. This area needs more dining on that level.
  13. We currently have a Baxter. We had a Daisy Mae and a Mickey, both of whom we lost in 2004. I also had a Lulubelle while growing up. I actually wanted to name our first male Elvis, but was vetoed by my husband, hence the Mickey name. And Baxter just didn't look like an Elvis.....so maybe we need to get another one, too.
  14. I really enjoyed your last blog, so am looking forward to this one as well. I own a Basset, so of course I have a soft spot in my heart for them. Maybe Sebastian as a name for your new pup?
  15. I think that might be Garduono's. I haven't eaten at that location, but when I fly in there my sister meets me and we usually stop to have a margarita.
  16. Thanks for a wonderful blog! You have a beautiful home and it's been great seeing new areas of my favorite city.
  17. I'm coming out of the woodwork to let you know that I'm loving your blog. I have family in Albuquerque and visit them often. I always make it a point to go to SF while I'm there, and it's one of my favorite places on Earth. Even though it's a long way off, I've already informed my husband that we are retiring to Santa Fe.
  18. Jason - For good pizza I would suggest Faccia Luna. The owners also have another location in northern VA as well. They have great wood fired pizzas, grinders, etc. Mario and Luigi's is another locally owned place, and they also have pretty good pizza, but I would stick with Faccia Luna. Unfortunately around here we don't have a plethora of great pizza places.
