Lo-Lo's Fried Chicken and Waffles is the best fried chicken and waffles in Phoenix and some of the best that I have ever had. Larry White(Lo-Lo) is the grandson of the owner of Mrs. White's Golden Rule Cafe in Phoenix. Larry gets his food right-chicken, waffles, homefries, mac and cheese, catfish, grits, red velvet cake etc. Larry (Lo-Lo) White-Fried Chicken Maestro There are many options at Lo-Lo's, but this is the namesake. The waffles are delicious and the chicken is ......divine! A few squirts of hot sauce does not hurt either-depending where you put it The platter comes with 3 pieces of chicken, 2 sides and cornbread. pictured beans over rice and homefries Cheesy Grits-yum Mac and Cheese-please. Cheesy Eggs 10 West Yuma St. Phoenix, AZ 85003 (just 2 blks. south of Buckeye Rd. & west of Central Ave.) Catering & Delivery Available Still closed on Mondays Tuesday - Thursday 10arn to 7prn Fridays 10arn to 2arn Saturday 10arn to 7prn Sunday 10arn to 5prn 602-340-1304 I think the Fried Chicken at Horny Toad in Cave Creek is good, but Lo-Lo's wears the crown in town. I have brought many people to Lo-Lo's and always leave happy. . He is located at 10 west yuma which is 2 blocks south of Buckeye just off Central. Good Eating, Molto E

I had the Grand Tasting Menu for the second time and I enjoyed it and would highly recommend Moto. Chef Cantu is an original and very creative and his staff is attentive, friendly and not stuffy as some high-end places can be. Some of my pictures will not upload for some reason? GTM Amuse of deconstructed caesar salad-lettuce ice cream, cruton on top of caesar dressing served on spoon/I really liked this tasted like Caesar salad, may be the best combo of savory ice cream that I have had Maki in the 4th dimension-rice and tuna wrapped by edible picture of maki roll on top of a spicy emulsion that I do not remember the type. Great flavor, but the roll could have had more tuna in it Champagne and king crab- the carbonated grapes had more fizz than when I had them last time-good Corn soup with popcorn-with shrimp-good soup, great theater Sweetbread with barbecued eggplant-Delicious, think chicken mcnugget, but with sweetbread and pipette filled with bbq sauce and eggplant puree Artichoke and macadamia-artichoke ice cream and nut-not much reaction Sweet Potato Pie-potato chain link, very cool, but I think I would like it better as a side Bass baked tableside-served with tomatillo sauce, the bass was great Short Rib pull apart- very good, break apart tube and sauce comes out Margarita with chips and salsa- I liked it the fist time that I had it, but would have rather had the real thing Beef with braised pizza and garlic-I loved the Ribeye cooked sous-vide, but I could have done without the pizza and garlic. This also came with garlic brulee on the Moto serviceware for aroma, but I did not get that much aroma off it Bacon horseradish and amaranth-good toasted amaranth Edible literature of explorateur-cheese course Sharleyne and crenshaw melon with frosted anise hyssop-ok Strawberry rice pudding, peanut and soy ice cream- good interesting flavors and textures Freeze dried pina colada-good Doughnut soup-Think Krispy Kreme soup Chocolate cake with hot ice cream-Frozen cake with liquid cheese center and hot ice cream

[CHI] Alinea – Grant Achatz – Reviews & Discussion (Part 1)

I did the Tour for the second time and Chef G has thrown Alinea into another gear. I have many pictures, but for whatever reason eGullet will not take them all. The Tour went like this: Cucumber-mango, several aromatics Sour Cream-smoked salmon, sorrel, pink peppercorn Milkweed Pod-green tea, salt, sugar Heart Of Palm-in five sections Octopus-beans, eggplant, soy Chewy Balsamic-tomato, nectarine, arugula White Bass-shellfish, waterchestnuts, floral vapor Lamb-dijon, lemon, california laurel branch Beef-flavors of A-1 Blackberry-tobacco, long pepper, smoke Zucchini-angelica, goat cheese, mint Yogurt-apricot, eucalyptus Cherry Ice-quinine,toffee Chanterelle-kola nut, sunflower seeds, plantain Snap Peas-tofu, pillow of lavender, ham Litchi-horseradish, chervil juice, oyster cream Lobster-chanterelles, ravoli of coconut powder Squab-Watermelon, foie gras, black licorice Bison-truffle, pistachio, sweet spice Bacon-butterscotch, apple, thyme Maytag Blue-wild celery, walnut milk, red wine Corn-honey, tonka bean, hyssop Verbena-buckwheat, lime, buttermilk Raspberries-red bell pepper, milk curd, rose Liquid Chocolate-dandelion root, chicory, banana Sponge Cake-sour cherry, vanilla fragrance Tarragon-crispy foam I really liked the my first Tour, but I liked this one at least 25% more. The flavors were bigger, bolder and I liked the wine pairings more as well. Chef G says that he has a lot of cool things that are in the works to go on the menu in the near future. I will return for sure as Chef G changes the Tours in the future. The Verbena is like a warm filled donut hole that was AWESOME!!! I wanted to ask for more of those. The Cherry Ice was good, really cool with a liquid center. The Litchi was cool with the Litchi simulating the look and feel of an oyster. The Milkweed Pod was not really for me, but one of my fellow diners thought is was the best pod she had ever tasted. The Squab with the Foie was lucious and they give more bread to soak up the sauce. I am not sure if anyone has mentioned the butter choices on the table-conventional wisconsin butter and goat butter that is great!! The chanterelle soup with the sunflower seeds was delicious. I will try to figure out what my upload issue is and post more pictures in the future. Good Eating, Molto E -
Greater Phoenix Dining: Where To Eat?

Vincent's is still there and you will find the menu very close to what it was 12 years ago-is that a good thing? Roxsand is no longer in business. You really should try Binkley's, Kevin is the best chef in the state. I will post some pictures of his food when I figure out how to upload them. ← I want to add Sea Saw and Cyclo to the list of must eats in Phoenix -

Avenues Restaurant To Get 2004 F&W Best New Chef

Well deserved, IMO. Congrats and keep up the fantastic work! ← I have eaten at Avenues once and I really like to eat somewhere twice before giving an opinion, but I did not have the experience that the board has reported thus far. The first problem was the server really did not have a great command of the english language. He offered us bottled water and I asked what they had and he named four choices that I had never heard of. I told the waiter to bring whatever he thought was best, because by his accent I did not recognize the choices-he brought Evian. I was worried at that point because how could he possibly explain the dishes if we could not understand him. We ordered the Chef's tasting and the dishes came out incredibly slow. The portions were small, even by tasting size standards. I felt the dishes on the whole were "hit and miss", more miss, though the platings were very nice. We ate there on a Saturday night and the Chef left the line for 45 minutes during our meal. I would try it again, but I have no plans to. -

Brad, I think your choice of the word average was nice based on my meal there. I have only been there once and I really try not to condemn before I try somewhere twice, but I really had a bad experience. We did not find anything appealing and just wanted to leave fast. I like Sea Saw next door and the wine bar that are owned by the same people, but this place did not do it for me. I don't like this type of southwest fusion. Good Eating, Molto E -
Thank you Pedro, I will not look down. I am going to stay the night in Roses, though not sure where yet. ← Thank Bux, we are going to rent a car in Barcelona. We are thinking about eating at Cinq sentits, Alkimia, Abac, Hisop or Can Majo while we are in Barcelona-do you have a preference

How are the roads up to Roses? I saw Gordon Ramsey show where he went to El Bulli and the roads looked very tight?
-
I was wondering what my options are for getting from Barcelona to Roses and back? I have been fortunate enough to get a reservation to El Bulli and I am not familiar with the area. Thank You, Molto E
