    Pork Belly

i am addicted to roast pork belly.. i have to stop myself getting it more than twice a week.. one of my favourite chinese restaurants has takeaway servings on rice with a type of light sauce [on the rice] and bok choy.. the pork has crispy cracked skin, melting fat and salty flesh... mmm.. i'm going to have to go after work now!
  2. i've seen wagyu at the barossa fine foods stall in the adelaide markets, recently i've also seen wagyu sausages there, though i haven't tried them yet..
  3. Cooper's Ales are fiercely defended and passionately drunk by a certain segment of south australian beer drinkers.. http://www.coopers.com.au/default2.asp
  4. actually, you're right ;).. i don't mind so much now, but when i was a kid i couldn't stand it, except for a few bites [usually the egg, meat and some noodles].. but i loved the hot mustard stuff that was put on it, the liquid packet that you had to open and mix in.. what was that called?
  5. definitely, that was one of my concerns, but i've been corresponding with someone from aqua and they've assured me that they're open on fireworks night.. [will have to properly book a bit later though, they only take reservations 3 months in advance] otherwise we'll just enjoy it from the ground along with everybody else :), either way, it'll be great!
  6. hi everybody! even though i'm korean, i was never a big fan of naengmyun [or any cold salty soup type dishes].. but my favourite would have to be my mum's bibimgooksu.. naengmyun noodles mixed with thinly sliced cucumber, radish, a kimchi like sauce and shredded beef, mixed together with seame seeds and oil, and whatever other goodness she puts in there [i think garlic, soy sauce, vinegar..].. eaten cold..mmm i'll ask her for the exact recipe next time i see her :)
  7. Hi everybody! I'm getting married in January and my partner and I have decided to go to Hong Kong for our honeymoon.. As a surprise I am organising a dinner at either Aqua Tokyo or Hu Tong on the night of the fireworks [we'll be there over chinese new year].. Is this a good idea, and if so, which would you suggest? My partner eats seafood but no other meats [i know!], and loves Japanese, so I'm leaning towards Aqua at this stage, as well as there being the bar to hang out in after.. Any other places that you think would be good? thanks~! this thread had been very helpful..;)
  8. there's the Red Ochre Restaurant in Adelaide that specialises in native foods done in a 'modern' way. native spices, berries, etc.. i ate there a few years ago, quite good.. for a more robust meal, there's a great place four hours out of Adelaide towards the flinders ranges called the Prairie Hotel, in Parachilna.. specialises in 'feral' food, i haven't eaten in the main dining room, but the front pub serves great burgers [kangaroo, emu, wallaby, quandong relish etc] and is just a great place to chill and relax before or after exploring the national park which is just next door.. both places use native ingredients as much as possible.. hope this helps some :)
