  1. WHat issue of NJ Monthly were they mentioned in?
  2. Back when I went to Glassboro State College (yes, that's what it was called back then) there was an ice cream place in town that had that same contraption. And they delivered.
  3. I went to the Original Pancake House in West Caldwell with my younger daughter. I had the Apple Pancake -- my regular order. For my daughter I discovered that the Junior plate off the regular menu is a better deal than the children's menu. She got 3 regular size pancakes with chocolate chips and a glass of chocolate milk for $3.95 (I think). The children's menu had 6 silver dollar chocolate chip pancakes for the same price. Then you had to buy the beverage. Our waiter was not the best though. His section was pretty empty, but I still had to flag him down for refills of coffee and water. More than 1 time too. Then when the check came he charged me for the junior plate for my daughter and for a separate chocolate milk. the manager took the chocolate milk off the bill for me. Came home with lots of leftover apple pancake.
  4. Besides Victoria and Albert's what nice places did you visit at WDW?
  5. A Walt Disney World fan here. The banana stuffed french toast is at the Kona Kafe in the Polynesian. It's called Tonga Toast. A good snack is the Dole Whip in the Magic Kingdom. It's made with a pineapple sorbet. You can get it swirled with vanilla soft serve. Actually, Disney has some very good restaurants these days.

    Lalezar

Eric and I had dinner last night at Lalezar. It was a last minute decision and not our first choice actually. We wanted Blu but there were no ressies to be had until 8:45pm. We then thought about going to Reggiano's in West Orange, but the menu wasn't inspiring us. So we went to Lalezar. The place is pretty inside. We were offered the choice of which room we wanted to sit in. We went with the gold room and got a nice four top for the 2 of us (even though there were 2 tops in the room. We started with hummus ($4.50 good and garlicky!) and the turkish salad ($6.50 for the small with an supplement of $2.50 for shredded feta cheese.) The Turkish Salad was nice and fresh with a nice parsley flavor. The feta cheese was soft and slightly different from the feta I'm used to -- really nice. For the main dishes I had the Iskender Kebab ($15.95) which is vertically grilled thin slices of beef and lamb served over grilled bread. It had a nice tomato sauce on top of it. On the side was yogurt. It was really good. the meat was very tender -- Eric commented that it was like a brisket platter. Eric had Has Has Kebab ($14.95) hand diced lamb with onions, red pepper, garlic and spicy Turkish seasoning; on a bed of chunky tomato sauce. The tomato sauce was really good on this dish -- tasted like roasted tomatos. The kebabs (there were 2) were excellent but not spicy. For dessert we shared baklava ($4). I had Turkish tea -- ($1.25) which comes in a curvy glass. It was strong. I added a whole packet of splenda to the little cup. Eric had turkish coffee ($2.75)-- which came in a tiny coffee cup. The only thing we thought was odd was the bread service -- we were brought a basket of bread early on. When the hummus arrived we thought we might get pita with it. no pita just the other bread but then later after our main dishes arrived the waiter showed up with a basket of pita bread. We would definitely go back again.
  7. I used to go there --but haven't had the chance to get there in some time. They had great desserts I remember. Great key lime pie. I'll miss them.
  8. I used to love Parsippany Bagels on Rt. 46 in Parsippany. I haven't been there in years though.
  9. Has anyone bought this cookbook yet? How is it? I'm thinking of buying it to help support the New Orleans rebuild. I've seen a wide discrepancy in the prices though. But the one from the original poster would be signed.
  10. I'm bumping this thread up from oblivion because I've got vodka steeping. Two pitchers infusing even as I type. I'm doing strawberry -- which I've done once before and it is yummy! And now I'm trying a new one, Melon. They are so darn easy too. The strawberry one I learned about when having dinner at Felidia. We were waiting at the bar, dh and I, when I noticed the bartender making a lovely pinky red drink for another woman. When I asked what she was having the bartender told me something or other. Okay, I forgot what the drink was -- it was two years ago. But I remember the vodka lesson. He told me that they infuse their own vodka because it is better, with no artificial ingredients. He told me to buy some strawberries and cut off the green leafy part. Then put them in a pitcher, add vodka and cover with plastic wrap. Wait 10 days, remove the berries, strain the liquid to remove any strawberry particules, like the seeds and then you are ready to use. The strawberry vodka turns a beautiful color. The new batch has been steeping for less than 24 hours and I can already see the color change. Yum!
  11. I loooove Los Tapitios! But I've never been on the bar side. What's that side like? I was kind of thinking more upscale for my in laws. I'm not sure I would send them to the bar side without seeing it. They have been to the restaurant side with us before though.
  12. My mother in law is seeking the wisdom of Egullet. She is looking for a mexican restaurant serving Margaritas. It can be in the Morristown, Summit, Madison, Millburn, Montclair etc area. Already discarded is Mexicali Rose in Montclair. Any idea? Thanks!
  13. I've had yummy desserts at Trattoria Fresca, Fascino and Blu. Here's a link to the Blu thread: http://forums.egullet.org/index.php?showtopic=74655 American Grill has a whole bunch of yummyness as well.
  14. Interestingly enough I believe Faschino in Montclair will have some Passover friendly items on their menu.
  15. I am a bit of a Disney fanatic ( ) and I remember the days when the food there was nothing to write home about. But in recent years Disney has worked hard to improve their food. I've had some good meals there -- Flying Fish is a favorite. I do like California Grill but it is a like overhyped. I like Jiko (at Animal Kingdom Lodge) and Le Cellier in Canada in Epcot. Another good meal experiece is Boma at Animal Kingdom Lodge. It's a buffet, but the food is good. And if you ask they will give you the recipe (they email it to you.)
  16. Has anyone from egullet been to Harrar Cafe in West Orange? I'm tempted to go -- I've tried Ethiopian food before (both in a Brunswick and in Montclair) but this one is even closer to my home. Here is their web site: http://www.harrarcafe.com/ There was a thread on another site and the people there seemed to like it: http://www.southorangevillage.com/discus/m...html?1142910068
  17. Sounds like you had a great meal Tracey! Wish I wasn't home sick at the time.
  18. I haven't been to Jerusalem West in ages -- and it is so close to my home. But I used to love it. They have a platter that lets you have 4 salads -- hummas, baba, falafel and Israeli salad and it yummy.
  19. The dumplings -- yummy. Is that enough information? The first ones were gyoza and very nice. They were pan cooked so they were nice and crispy on the bottom. The second were my fav and they were shumei. The had to be home made. The wrappers were incredibly thin and the filling was delicious. There was a piece of shrimp on the top of each one. They were really delicate.
  20. Sorry Rosie! I'm a technophobe -- Eric is the one with the abilities. He got the pics and will post them as soon as I make, I mean ask, him.
  21. Interestingly enough my in laws went there last night for dinner with another couple. My MIL told me that the other couple called in advance to see if they could BYOB. She said that the person they spoke to told them they could bring, but that the restaurant had sangria which was advertised as being wonderful. So they decided to not bring any wine. They ordered a pitcher of sangria and my MIL said what they got was basically punch. She said they sent it back and then the men went out and found a liquor store where they got some wine. She said they were not told that the sangria was made without alcohol but you tell it was once you were served it.
  22. Tommy -- Well the article says that he was taking the wine and cooking off the alcohol which would dealcoholize the wine. That's okay if he is telling people the sangria is alcohol free but it is not so good if he not telling people that.
  23. Don't know who to believe. It is upsetting to think that he might have been selling de-alcoholized wine as regular stuff. If I'm buying sangria I want it to be sangria. However I haven't been there recently and I dont know if he was advertising it as being alcohol free.
  24. I am craving this place now. I can't be the only one can I? I might have to convince Eric that a trip this weekend is required. Do they serve dim sum daily?
