  1. That's wrong on so many levels.
  2. I'm happy to hear this news. I never had the chance to get over to Earth but I enjoyed Anthony's cooking at Fortunato. I look forward to getting over to Crave.
  3. The problem is that sometimes 1 epipen isn't enough. I was told this by a nurse who was explaining to me why I should carry more than 1 epipen when I go out with my younger daughter. She had her first allergic food reaction that was more severe than a little itchy lip. We went out to a chinese buffet (oh the horror!) We hadn't been there in some time since she is now willing to eat a lot more types of food then her picky self used to eat. (But that's another story) She ate all the stuff she used to eat and then got itchy, then got sick in the parking lot, then got itchier then got covered in hives from her neck down her whole torso. We gave her benedryl, which did the trick and her breathing/airway was never affected. I have no idea what she reacted to since she had no tree nuts in her food. the doctor told me I could have used the epipen and taken her to the ER. But then the nurse told me that if you are farther from a hospital the 1 epipen might wear off and you would need a second. So someone who was flying would have to carry a large supply in case they reacted to those sneaky peanuts. so it's really so bad for you to have to do without peanuts?

You didn't mention the pork with green chives. We get it served with noodles. Seriously good -- and not spicy with means that even the kids like it.
  5. When the Whole Foods in West Orange was still brand spankin new I went there and picked up a couple of the soups they sell by the Fish Fry/Dine in counter. They both smelled good and looked nice enough. One was a shrimp bisque (I think) and the other was a salmon chowder. It had nice pieces of salmon in it. I thought the bigger kid would like it. Brought it home and served it to her and she said "mom this has no flavor." So I stuck in a spoon and sure enough it was like eating thicken water with some salmon pieces. the only stuff with any taste was the actual salmon. A couple of days later I went back to Whole Foods with my receipt. The manager was wonderful. I told him what happened. as picnicChef mentioned, the soups are not made there. The manager told me they come in in bags. We suspected that they spices were completely left out of this soup. They refunded my money and apologized. The shrimp bisque was good though.
  6. When you have more pics of food on your camera's memory card then you do of your kids. When you go to a local restaurant and see the pics your husband took are posted on their wall. When even your parents know your Egullet friends by their posting names.
  7. I don't think you can get in to Nemo's directly though the parking lot. I think there is a fenced in yard behind Nemo's. If you look at the map Nemo's is on the corner with the lot behind it. I think that's the yard where the Lubovich center puts out the display Sukkahs before Sukkot.
  8. We got a plate of pickle wedges and some pickled tomato wedges too. The pickles were good, but I couldn't tell you about the tomatoes -- I don't like tomatoes that way.
  9. They might actually be hand slicing the pastrami. I do recall seeing a gentleman behind the counter slicing some meat with a nice sized knife. I'm not sure if he was cutting pastrami, corned beef or another meat.
  10. This is one of those deja vu moments. Eric and I went there over the summer and I could have sworn he posted about it. but I digress. It was fairly new when we tried it. The gelato was yummy -- I had pistachio which really had that pistachio flavor. I don't remember what Eric had -- perhaps it was something coffeeish or the Bacio -- classic chocolate and hazelnut. He enjoyed his as well. they came in these cool cups -- not like the regular paper cups that ice cream comes in. The prices were not cheap, but the stuff was high quality. My only eyebrow raising moment was that these guys on line right after us wanted gelato and then a cup of espresso. Neither of the girls behind the counter knew how to use the espresso machine. Both of them tried to figure it out but couldn't. It was taking them forever to try to help thes customers. Eric told them he knew how and they had him go behind the counter to give them a hand. Then the mom of one of the girls came in and she went to help to. I think the customer finally decided to have a cup of regular coffee instead. The girls were nice though and the store was very new so hopefully by now they know who to work that machine. We haven't had the chance to go back yet -- since we are not often in that area. But I would go back.
  11. I have to say that although I love me some Chendu 1 I am also a devotee of Noodle Chu in Parsippany. Their black pepper beef udon, or beef in black pepper udon, or whatever they call it is really good. Whenever Eric and I (and it's been a while) we always debate getting 2 orders of that so we have plenty to take home. I didn't know the Bill and Harry's connection. Cool info there.
  12. Gee your butt looks terrific. And I mean that in the nicest way possible. Actually I have a pork butt in the fridge right now. I think I'm going to cook it in the crock pot. Eric is working this weekend and I'm not smoking that baby without supervision. So I'll rub it and pat it and mark it with a B and put it in the crock pot for baby and me. Glad to read your blog Tracey! How was lunch with the child? Did she cook you ramen?
  13. That sounds yummy -- or course I am well known for my sweet tooth (at least in my home I am.)
  14. So what did everyone think of the Fancy Food show? My take -- not too much new under the sun. Hybiscus is big this year as are Goji berries. Take your minted water please. When I'm thirsty I want a drink not mouthwash. I love all the cheese and the olives.
  15. Lima Bean -- I don't thing you mean Amazing Hot Dog. Amazing Hot Dog does not serve onion rings.
  16. Does anyone know if they check photo id at the entrance to the show if you already have a badge?
  17. Sorry I'm late to the party but here is my $.02 Beautiful sunny day! The parking lot was set up with beverages. There was a canopy with a band and then the FOOD! The ribs had that nice pink ring indicating smoking but the smoke flavor wasn't overwhelming. Idon't like when the food it too smokey. The pulled pork was delicious -- incredibly tender and juicy. The chicken wings and drumsticks were very good also. I tried the red pickle, but I guess it's an acquired taste because it wasn't my thing. As you can see from Rooftop's pics it did have the red ring like it had been smoked. This was my first time having boiled peanuts -- they weren't what I expected but liked them. The folks working were very nice and friendly. I got a particular kick out of the guy serving the ribs. He asked me how many I wanted! What type of question was that for a foodie! I had 2 -- juicy, meaty, pull off the bone yum. We will definitely be back!
  18. Sounds delicious. Wish I could be there, but I'm home with the kiddoes tomorrow. Eat some bbq for me. And share some more tales of your food exploits please.
  19. Sure would! There is a thread on the New Jersey board about the creation of Amazing Hot Dog. I would be interested in reading your plans and progress too. Here one thread: http://forums.egullet.org/index.php?showto...amazing+hot+dog Here's another from after the electrical fire they had: http://forums.egullet.org/index.php?showto...amazing+hot+dog
  20. There is an Indian market on rt 46 in Parsippany. It's near Hunan Noodle House. I don't know if they carry those Mangos though.

    EARTH

I am so, so sorry to hear that. Is there any possibility that it is a temporary thing? I wish Chef Antony all the best whatever happens in the future.
  22. Just in case you wanted a little something extra with your coke now there's Coke Plus. There's even a diet coke plus. The plus is vitamins and minerals -- because when I'm drinking coke I like to feel like I'm doing something good for me. What's next, pork rinds with ginko?
  23. Duh -- I forgot to mention that AHD is now using oil that has 0 transfat in all their cooking.
  24. There's a new dog on the menu at Amazing Hot Dog. It's called the Asian Dog. It's a Classic (the no bacon dog) with Sambal, Peanut Butter, Teriyaki Sauce, Sesame Seeds and Scallions. Really good with that sate/Thai peanut flavor.
