If I attend, I would be in for Friday. Oh and I'll probably have a plus 1 too.

I just made a WW pizza dough the other day. Its from America's Test Kitchen Healthy Family cookbook. The dough was great, and we were able to roll it so thin. I used a very hearty wheat flour too(I think its graham flour by Hodgson Mills). TO make 1 ball of dough 1- 1 1/8 c. bread flour 1 cup WW flour 1 and 1/8 tsp instant yeast 3/4tsp salt 1.5TBL evoo 1 1/4 c warm water Make in Food processor. Pulse dry ingredients , then with processor running, add oil and water Blend 30-40 seconds. Let dough rest for 2 min. Then process 30 seconds more. Put in greased bowl( make a dough ball first). Let rise 1-1.5hrs. Here is the pizza I made with it.

Congrats Beth. Thats amazing news. I vote for August. I'm taking the California Bar Exam in July and the trip would be a great reward for the months of study I'll be putting in.

Its La Tourangelle brand. It was 10 bucks for 8 oz. Doesnt sound like that great a quality to me. I'm making a mushroom barley pilaf at the moment and I'll drizzle it on that before I serve.

I couldnt resist buying some black truffle oil at Cost Plus because I had a 10 dollar off coupon( off a 30 dollar purchase). Did I waste my money? What can I do with it. I dont eat red meat or a lot of pork. Does that limit my options? Please help.

Hi Lisa, How fun. Where exactly is Exton, PA? I too am Jewish and my partner is catholic, in fact everyone I've ever been with has been Catholic. I guess that is just the norm for me. Its never been an issue. We have a menorah in the window, I make latkas on the first night and we celebrate xmas. The best of both worlds. -
I did mine like this last year and kinda like this on Thanksgiving this year. I used some white wine too. I made the stock the day before, defatted it, used some of the fat to make a roux, I added some drippings when the turkey was finished. I kept it warm in one of those mini crock pots. Everyone raved about it.

This was my first Thanksgiving back in the US in 8yrs so I went a bit overboard. We also travelled to my partner's hometown of Milwaukee. Im exhausted. This year I cooked for 20. I baked a lot more than I ever bake for Thanksgiving. 2 pumpkin pies, 1 apple pie( all scratch), a 9 x 13 cake, magic cookie bars, ginger cookies, peanut butter blossoms, pecan pie bars, black magic cupcakes with vanilla bean frosting. I made chex mix, 2 dips, turkey, stuffing, potatoes, sweet potatoes, homemade rolls, gravy, homemade green bean casserole and cranberry sauce. It was so much work, but a lot of fun and there were hardly any leftovers so I guess that is the best compliment.

My ex's mom could NOT believe I made that( knowing how well I cook). She thought it was slop( the one with canned soup). Last year and the year before I made one from scratch which was much, much better. This year, I'm trying a recipe from Cook's Country where in you make it in the crock part and part of the onions is ground and used to thicken the homemade sauce. I'll report back.

We have a simple human can that we got at TJ Maxx. I think we paid 70 for it. We like it a lot and our dog can't get in it. We also have Simple Human paper towel and napkin holders and a simple human soap dispenser. Love all those too.

The Spice House has them too( online or in Wisconsin or IL)

Hey Peter, I never saw this topic when you started it. What a shame, since I said the very same thing about " Made in China" as you did. These veggies( and fruit) would often go on sale and I'd get them for the seniors. I was dismayed about The Made in China on the label. I think the spinach might be a product of Belgium. Some of the frozen fruit is a product of the USA. I really only bought them when they went on sale for 1.99( and sometimes I had 1.00 off coupons). It always really bothered me though.

I put the water and the steel cut oats in the pot overnight. Soaking overnight cuts 15 min off the cooking time.

The last pot-pie I made was great. It was a Cook's Illustrated recipe that included such odd ingredients as crimini mushrooms, tomato paste and Lea and Perrins. The topping included parmesean cheese and was made in the manner of a crumble and applied to the filling after it was pre-baked. The entire pot pie doesnt spend that much time in the oven. I froze some of the filling in a separate container and packed up the topping in a ziplock bag( froze that too). I gave it to my sister who raved about it.

I forgot to take a pic of that. I'll be making them again in a couple days and will post.

When I moved back to California from Ontario this summer, I found so many items. Its almost embarasing how much I "hoarded" ( that is the term my ex used to describe me). I found an 11lb bar of guitard chocolate that I dragged back from Chicago in 2008 ( remember that Kerri?). I was very limited in what I could bring with me back to the US so I ended up leaving a lot of condiments and other grains at my former home. I'm sure my ex has already thrown them out. In my new home( Condo)my kitchen is tiny so no room for hoarding. I also have easy access to my favorite stores( not so in Ontario) so no hoarding here. We also seemed to have a pantry bug problem so that cured me asap too. Everything is now in sealed containers.

I'm glad your first experience with matza ball soup, wasnt from a boxed mix. Those are just aweful.

I make half recipes of Peter Reinharts bagels at least a few times a month. Half a recipe, gets me 8 small bagels.

I'm 43 and I never thought I liked coffee. I always loved coffee ice cream or frappacino's or iced caps( Tim Horton's). I realized that I dont like HOT coffee. I hated to see my ex throw away leftover coffee so I stuck it in a pitcher in the fridge. Then I added sugar free vanilla syrup and some half and half and voila, I loved it. When we split up last May, I had to buy a coffee maker and figure out how to make coffee. I still dont think I make it right. My ex made it really strong. I also dont think I know what "good" coffee is vs. crappy coffee. I wont drink maxwell house though, even my ex stopped drinking that when I urged her to try better coffee. I fill up the water( filtered) to 12 cups. Pour in the coffee( Im using Sprouts Bulk organic breakfast blend) until its halfway up the basket and press the on button. I let it cool for a few hours, throw it in a glass pitcher with Torani sugar free vanilla and sugar free caramel syrup( Subscribe and save on amazon.com) and 1 cup of half and half. It must be refridgerated overnight. I make ice with an old-fashioned metal ice cube tray( with the pull lever) and Arrowhead drinking water. I use a double insulated made in the USA Tervis tumbler with lid and straw( I have one with a cupcake, Cal State Long Beach, a peace sign and Green Bay Packers). I really look forward to it every morning. Man, I love caffeine. I didnt realize what I was missing all these years. I only allow myself 1 glass because I could probably drink 2 or 3. The pitchers lasts 4 days. I'm basically drinking 4 Tbls of half and half a day and I do feel guilty about that. I tried to use less, but I didnt like it as much. So, there is my weirdness with coffee.

recipe please? I have 4 jars of honey in my cabinet and that looks great.

Thats always been my problem with her stuff. Gross, Gross and more gross. Those candy melts are disgusting. I just dont see the appeal of them if they taste like crap. But, I've always been more about taste than looks. My cakes arent pretty, but they are really delicious.

I forgot to mention that my SO hates tomatoes, but likes salsa. She also hates avocados, but loves guacamole. She wont eat a piece of cheese( and she's from Wisconsin), but she'll eat melted cheese( grilled cheese, quesadilla). I really dont get that. I loath tomatoes(raw), and I wont touch salsa with a 10ft pole. I do love marinara sauce though, but to me those 2 things taste totally different. -
Im curious if anyone has done stiff( such as bagel) dough in the 600 or 610? I had 15yr old KA, I think it was 325 watts( classic?). I made half batches of a bagel dough and maybe after the 10th time the KA blew up( litterally). It popped, it smoked, sparks came out, not pretty. My ex found a 350watt at a yard sale for 20 bucks. I used that a few times, but it strained and groaned with the half batch of bagel dough. We split up and I moved back to California. I went back and forth with KA vs. Cuisinart and went with the Cuisinart. I bought the 800 watt for 279 on Amazon. Then, it dropped in price to 239 a few days later and they gave me the difference back. A few weeks later, I saw it at Sears on clearance for 125.00. I got the food processor attatchment with the original purchase( free bonus). I found the blender on clearance at Macy's for 20 bucks, but I later returned it because a vita-mix was in my future. on Saturday, I was at Sur La Table in Santa Monica and I found the beater blade on clearance for 9.99( reg price 44.95). I'm happy with this mixer so far. It did have a problem with the full batch of bagel dough( it strained a teeny bit), but I've seen no problem with the half batch of dough. I've made a few cakes too, and I'm happy with the performance. Still, IM curious to know if the 600 KA could have handled the dough.

My partner is of polish decent and hates sour cream!! I can't imagine not having sour cream on pierogies. She also hates most sauces, maple syrup( what?) and cream cheese.
