  1. That would be quite interesting!
  2. I think this regional explanation makes sense. What has struck me is the apathy I percieve when mentioning this issue to PA natives. They're just so used to it that they don't see any reason to question it. What really gets me is that the "blue" aspect of the laws don't seem to accomplish anything for religious right. It doesn't restrict drinking, and the case rule actually increases the amount and availability of beer. Perhaps the resistence to change also comes from seems to be an "all or nothing" fear in the minds of state employees. The buying power of the state IS huge and certainly can be a plus. Keep state control just make it less illogical and stiff. ok ok wah wah wah On a more humorous note, in Illinois there are a few drive thru liquor stores. I always got a kick out of how irresponsible it felt when I used them. Drinking and driving......say it isn't so!
  3. It seems to me that the union and modernity should be able to coexist. The Bush comment is so true. You reminded me of another thing I can't get over. I keep clicking my heels, but I never et back to Kansas
  4. It takes pressure to change things, and people have just gotten used to this. I actually can live with the state stores, but the beer by the case thing is so annoying and silly. It doesn't curb my drinking it increases it. Now I have multiple cases in my house instead of a six pack. Perhaps Katie can enlighten in more detail. Have you been to Sams yet?
  5. All I have to say is SAMS LIQUORS! I lived a mile away.......................now 750 miles away. DAMNIT! What my question really is, is why don't Pennsylvanians seem to question this situation. It's like it just isn't up for discussion
  6. Being a Chicago native most of my life. I am still having trouble dealing with PA liquor laws. It seems like all the PA natives have just gotten used to them. They of course seem backwards, kindergartenish, and pointless. I understand monopolies don't like to give up power, but isn't there something people could do to bring the state into this century? Naive I'm sure Kurt
  7. Maybe Boudain should pick some favorites now? Consolidate it to a finalists list Interested?
  8. My family has a perverse love of giving tacky gifts. We do it on purpose and try to keep a straight face. The fun is watching someone squirm as they do they're best "gee thanks" not knowing you're just trying too make them uncomfortable. This sick habit started with my grandmother, she regifted a hamburger maker once and now that same hamburger maker has been regifted many times over. The rules are that you must keep the damn thing for at least an entire year and then suprise someone with it. It has dissapeared for a year or two now. I have no idea who has it. I did see a Double/two sided model at garage sale and thought about upgrading the evil item.
  9. Perhaps the caviar banana combo isn't so bad, it just needs more marketing flair. Rename it The Salty Banana, with the drag queen waitstaff bit, only with a Carmen Miranda-esque dress code
  10. Willy's 24 Hr. Steam Table Delight Gizzards and Things Spoons A Savory Pudding Retaurant The Atlanta Soup Kitchen and Veterinary Clinic
  11. White Castles just don't taste right unless you're drunk. I think this ties in with the hangover cure discussion. Same principles only on the night of, instead of the morning after
  12. Two aspirin, two tylenol, huge glass of water before bed. Then as Katie decribed, salty, greasy, spicy, filling food. Coffee of course, but I always have to add FRESH AIR into the cure. The air really helps. A sandwich that I sort of invented at greasy spoon diner, became a favorite with all my hungover coworkers, Gyros, egg, swiiss cheese, on a pita with lots of hot sauce. It wasn't on the menu and the owner started wondering why this odd order kept coming up every day. We informed him that it was for medicinal purposes and he added it to the menu. He named it the Equilizer.
  13. We have a constant supply in our house and we have tried many many brands. My wife is korean and considers them too be a staple. We almost exclusively eat the Shin Rahmen brand from the Nong Shim company. A new brand that we have tried that I like is Satah Rahmen, spicy with a beefy sort of taste. Here's an ok factoid site. http://www.instantramen.or.jp/english/base...data/01/01.html
