  1. It really is a fun place and is always busy with really good food!
  2. Curlz - here is their website They have a picture of the place so this way you can recognize it when you get there. It's kinda big so I don't think you could miss it - lol. Give us a report after you go as I'm curious as to how good the food is.
  3. Solar Do Minho 15 Cleveland St, Belleville, NJ (973) 844-0500 Their Rodizio is $18.00.
  4. I just love their food! I think I answered you on this on another board, but, in case you did not see it I will repeat it. The quality of meat is excellent and it's not that overly salty coating on all the meat. They usually have from 10 to 14 different kinds of meats and chicken. Don't forget to get a piece of the pineapple that is sprinkled with cinnamon in between the meats. They also give you black beans, potato's (if they bring you the skinny potatoes ask them for the spanish large flat ones - it's not a problem they think Americans want skinny) and of course the rice. There are delicious marinated olives on the table with delicious bread to start. You can, of course, just order off their regular menu. The restaurant is really nice inside(not formal or dressy -casual is fine) and very different. It's like your eating in a little spanish village. I would recommend going early or try calling for a reservation. They are busy every night of the week, but, it's well worth it even if you do have to wait. We have been there about 8 times now over the past year (twice in the last 6 weeks as we took out of town relatives there and everyone has always had a great meal).
  5. Wow - this did spark a great discussion. I just received an email from Steve: What a great group! Thanks for all the input. I'm staying at the Embassy Suites Hotel Parsippany. I don't care about cuisine, as much as a place that someone recommends. I don't mind whether I grab something en route to Parsippany, or ASAP. I'm not in a rush, I just want to make sure I end up someplace before they close. And I actually will have a GPS in my rental car! Thanks Steve Portigal -- http://www.portigal.com blog -- http://chittahchattah.blogspot.com
  6. Another food lover from the West Coast needs a place to eat. Can anyone here suggest someplace for him? He is looking for a good place for a late-evening dinner between Newark airport (EWR) and Parsippany. He is flying into EWR from the west coast this Thursday and his flight lands at 8. By the time he gets into his rental car for the drive to Parsippany, it's probably about 9:00. If he were to go directly to his hotel, he would probably check in and be in his room a little before 10, when a lot of restaurants close. This trip he made sure he is not staying at a hotel located in an office park (where a lot of the Parisippany hotels seem to be). There's at least a Wendy's and a McDonald's within a mile or so. He wondered, though, if he would be passing by anyplace cool en route from the airport to the hotel. He is probably not up for a fancy sit down meal by himself after a long flight. But any suggestions for anything along the way, or in Parisppany even, some place still serving at 9, would be great. He is being taken out for dinner in Newark on Friday so he will get that experience later on in the week. He has seen other postings about restaurants in the general area that people like, but it's obviously hard for him to know what is "along the way" since he doesn't know the geography hardly at all! Thanks
  7. Curlz - here is a link to their website - they are located in Clifton next to the Home Depot and right off the Allwood Circle. Jamie's
  8. Great Italian restaurant La Riviera Trattoria 421 Piaget Ave Clifton 973/478-4181 right next door is their storefront restaurant and they have take out. There's also a new mexican (sorry I forgot the name) on Main just a couple of blocks past the White Castle going towards Passaic. If you go don't mind take out then go to Baskinger's Deli 353 Crooks Ave. They set up a great hot and cold buffet (take out only - they do have some picnic tables outside - at least they did last summer). Great selection and food is very good. They also have very good bakery right next door with a take out cofffee bar.

Thanks for the info. Some friends of ours love that type of seafood salad. Maybe our next dinner out together I'll suggest it. I see that you are new and so welcome to the board. We'll be coming out your way in a couple of weeks. My cousins are coming in from Italy and one of the sights to see that they requested is Amish communities. So, we'll be taking a road trip out there. One of my favorite places to eat there is Paul Revere Tavern. It's historic, dining rooms are nice and have always found the food is be very good.
  10. As per their website Kosher Nosh UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF RABBI ISAIAH HERTZBERG, THE KASHRUTH COMMITTEE OF BERGEN COUNTY.
  11. Thank you zhelder. That's exactly what I was going to say. Kosher Nosh is under rabbinical supervision. As per their website Kosher Nosh UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF RABBI ISAIAH HERTZBERG, THE KASHRUTH COMMITTEE OF BERGEN COUNTY.
  12. We like the Kosher Nosh. We've been going there ever since Karpen's in Clifton closed many years ago. Kosher Nosh is not the best there ever was, but, you give me a better alternative in New Jersey! (Ok, maybe Tabatchnick's or Eppes Essen...) As for Katz's, you should know that it is not a Kosher deli as Kosher Nosh is. Katz's is "Kosher style". Even so, the pastrami wasn't that bad, but, EVERYTHING else was terrible. We went to Katz's last year when we were in the area and had heard SO MUCH about this place. Well, besides the food being kosher style and not very good the place was a filty mess. Talk about waitresses and the people cutting and serving the food, the place was "Schifo", (that's Italian for disgusting!). Anyway, to each his own. Enjoy the supermarket deli kosher style at Katz's. I'll take the real thing. Thank You!
  13. NJ2FLA - Kosher Nosh - yuck???? You don't like the Kosher Nosh? markk - yes, I do think that Tabatchnick's and the frozen Tabatchnick's is one and the same.
  14. NJ2FLA - Kosher Nosh - yuck???? You don't like the Kosher Nosh?
  15. You gotta go to THE KOSHER NOSH!! The Kosher Nosh is the real deal and their food is delicious!!! From Nutley you can just take 21 to 20 to Fairlawn Ave to Prospect and you'll be there in 15 - 20 minutes. Here's their website with a map. Their website is cute - put on your computer speakers Kosher Nosh
  16. Try calling - they have great, fresh seafood daily: Lucy's Gourmet Seafood (973) 694-4467 186 Mountainview Blvd Wayne, NJ 07470
  17. I'll second the Green Jade. The food there is really good and they do have other selections other than chinese.
  18. Jim Dandy's is not good. I've tried the one in Nutley and it was very expensive for what you got and the ribs were really not that good. Someone on another food board posted about the one in Cedar Grove and said it too was "horrible". Not saying not to try them, but, I definitely would not go back to Nutley. Also, AllisonA I think we should keep an eye on this link. Their new website is not up yet, but, it's for the New Jersey State Barbecue Championship! I know that it will probably be individual, but, maybe we'll be able to find a new place to go to for BBQ. Just a thought. NJ BBQ Championship
  19. AlisonA I came across this listing and thought it might be of some help to you in your search for BBQ in Essex County. New Jersey BBQ
  20. I would definitely suggest Vivo Ristorante, 316 Valleybrook Ave., Lyndhurst, NJ Tel: 201-372-0300. A club that I belong to had their 2004 christmas party there and there was approx. 25 of us in their party room. Their food is delicious and I would say moderately priced. They also have their own parking lot.
  21. I'm sorry that I can't remember the name, but, I've been buying them for the past year from Costco and they are just delicious. They are imported from Italy and they have a wonderful taste probably because they are fresh. I hate when you buy them from the store and they have been sitting there for a while are are tasteless because they are stale. Hope you find one and Happy Holidays!
  22. Well, finally got a chance to go and try the buffet at Saffron. I gotta say everything was delicious!! There were so many good things on the buffet such as chicken tikki marsala, tandoori chicken, saag, a lamb dish, chickpea dish, lots of different pakora's, daal, vegetables in a cream sauce. All in all I'd say there were 10 or 12 different hot dishes with one better than the next. For dessert they had the grated carrot with almonds, pineapple and raisins, but, the big surprise was Fig Ice Cream. It was so creamy and delicious and something I hope to have again. It's also a very pretty looking restaurant from the lobby to the clean bathrooms. If your looking for a wonderful and inexpensive ($9.95) buffet that's the place to go.
  23. Wow - thanks for the info and saving me a trip for lousy mexican food. There's a new place on Main Street in Clifton that's supposed to be authentic Mexican. Maybe one day I'll take a ride there and check it out. After eating the past few years at Don Jose's on Rt 10 in East Hanover it's hard to find comparable Mexican -but the search goes on!
  24. Well, let me add my two cents. We LOVE Brookside Thai, excellent food and definitely great prices. I do like Panang (on Rt 10 East Hanover) for their Chicken Satay, but, Brookside is much closer and thoroughly enjoy their food. Formia was just eh! We expected better after all we heard and it wasn't just us. The table next to us asked us how we like the food and we said "It was just Ok" and they agreed. Broad Street is really becoming a restaurant row. Has anyone tried that Mexican place over near Holstein's Ice Cream? It's always busy every time we pass it. Well, Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
  25. Thanks for all the responses. At the last minute our trip did not happen due to working schedules. We are planning to try again next month and am looking forward to trying some of your suggested restaurants. We'll post back after our trip. Thanks again!
