Which duck dish? What day did you go? Friday? Saturday? Sunday? Usually the staff is very attentive. Who was working your table, the older lady or one of the younger people?

I've always felt that Brazilian churrascaria cuisine -- Rodizio -- was the ultimate representation of Guy Food. Not just meat, but a nonstop parade of of meat and cuts from pork, beef, and anything that walks, essentially. All roasted on a spit with a covering of kosher salt.

I'm really looking forward to going back to J's to try his Q. If he's as serious about his smoking as he is his hot dogs and beef sandwiches, it will probably be some pretty good Q. In the meantime, I'm anxious to try a real Chicago hot dog this week (in Chicago) and see how it stacks up against J's!

Its a cool space, but obviously, you don't want to have a party there during torrential rain like Gothamist and AHT did.

Figure 12-16 on entrees and 6 bucks per appetizer.

I hate it too. It has the consistency of dried toothpaste and tastes worse.
-
And there is a very fair chance I'll be eating there and at the original Al's within the next 48 hours.

Actually, Palow is just the Afghan word for Pilaf. Pilow, Plow, Plov, Palow, Pullao, Pilaf, Pilav, are all derivations of the same word. The dish originates from Persia in what is now known as Turkey and Iran. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pilaf

It's an awesome restaurant, and its the one I most look forward to returning to when I make my next trip to San Fransisco.

Here's a podcast with Hamburger America director George Motz, Josh "Mr Cutlets" Ozersky and event organizer Adam Kuban: Off The Broiler Podcast at 2006 Gothamist / A Hamburger Today QBQ

Well, the weather was clearly against us, but the burgers and the good humor prevailed. If you missed the event, be sure to have a look at the video highlights reel (click) I can't emphasize how much rain we got today, for those of you non-NYers. Torrential downpours literally nonstop this afternoon. Great day for a beach party! If its gloomy, hit the bar! Event co-organizer Adam Kuban. When he's not scarfing pizza, this is generally what Adam is typically doing. Griddle Area, center stage. Burger Queue Fries were great. At least 200 people showed up despite the weather. The carte. A Hamburger Today's Adam Kuban and his friends at Gothamist kept the crowds in good spirits despite the incredibly sticky humidity. Do like Adam — always have a beer in hand. Burgers were flying off this grill in ridiculous quantities. A perfectly rare and juicy Motz Burger. Meat expert and food writer Josh Ozersky, AKA "Mister Cutlets" admiring the griddle. SPIKE! Some views across the East River. George Motz, Hamburger America film maker and griddle master. New Mexico Green Chiles for the Green Chile Cheeseburgers. These babies had some serious burn. Night falls on Manhattan.

Teaneck Kebab House 253 DeGraw Ave, Teaneck, NJ (201) 836-8571 This is the place across the street from Bistro EN: Teaneck Kebab house has a beautiful dining room, but because its main entrance is closed to the street and the windows are draped, you'd have no idea. They also own the pizza place next door, which you need to enter in order to gain access to the Kebab House. The room is filled with genuine Afghan carpets, giving it a very warm and cozy feel. Live entertainment is provided on weekends. This is the complimentary salad, which has a nice mint/yogurt dressing. These are Sambosas, a type of fried meat turnover. They are puffy on the inside so you can take a small bite and fill them with chutney. Mantoo, fresh meat dumplings with a tomato/meat sauce and yogurt. The black "dust" is dried mint, which imparts an interesting flavor to the dish. The spices used in the restaurant are sourced strictly from Afghani merchants. Afghan Bread This is a hot eggplant appetizer. The eggplant has a really strong and bold flavor, and resembles Turkish eggplant salad somewhat, but with a different spicing. It's eaten with traditional Afghan bread. This is pasta with red beans, in a tangy yogurt sauce. Kofta Kebab (spiced ground lamb) with brown Afghan Basmati rice pilaf. Naturally all the meat served in the restaurant is Halal. The Pizzeria they own next door shouldn't be overlooked — they do both deep dish and thin NY-style pizza (with Halal mozzarella cheese). The pizza place also uses Halal meat for its Gyro sandwiches, and makes its Gyro meat in-house.

I love a good spinach salad with some type of crumbly blue cheese, apple slices, pecans or walnuts, and some sort of warm bacon dressing. A properly, classically prepared-at-table Ceasar doesn't suck either.
-
Oh hell, I could care less about the nutritious aspects. But sometimes, you just want a nice 'ol pile of raw vegetables with a creamy dressing and bacon bits.

Yerah I think it may have been somewhat shrimpy.

Yeah, Han Ah Reum will certainly work for you, Johnny. Here is our previous thread on it: http://forums.egullet.org/index.php?showtopic=20950

Yep they have Champpong. What's Kakdugi?

This is a great little Korean Chinese place in the same shopping center as Han Ah Reum in Ridgefield. The food is great, and inexpensive. Dumplings are incredible. Storefront Complimentary Radish Kimchi Appetizer Some other kind of pickle. Awesome fried dumplings Pork, scallion and other stuff inside. Chicken in Pepper Sauce, similar to Kung Pao Chicken but Koreanized. Special Peking Noodle, ZaZangMeyon, Prior to saucing. ZaZangMeyon Sauce Noodles and Sauce, mixed. Fried Pork with Sweet and Sour Sauce. A different approach than the Chinese-American favorite.

Oh yes, the BBQ Shrimp Po Boy at Liuzza's By The Track in New Orleans:

I'm very anti Whole Foods. Besides, sometimes you just want to eat out.

Here's a killer sandwich I had last week in Boston -- the Lobster Roll at the Neptune Oyster Bar in the North End:

I have really good memories of drinking this beer in London years ago, but, when I've tried it recently it's underwhelmed me. Maybe it's just the things taste better on vacation phenomenon. ← Like any Pilsner, it tastes really good with very spicy food or on a really hot day.

I know, New Orleans should be illegal, its practically the sandwich capital of the world. Here's two from Crabby Jacks: The Un-Ferdi: And the Shrimp Po Boy: And certainly, the Roast Beef Debris Po Boy at Mother's:
