  1. actually, this one's got both
  2. dinner? here ya go
  3. i thought they only had pretzel croissants, no?
  4. What kind of strange person would've given you high expectations for Manresa? Sounds like one hell of a trip. Enjoy!
  5. Good call. I agree with FabulousFoodBabe on this one.
  6. Brilliant! Maybe that is what I'll do
  7. I agree. I went in late Dec, 06 and was underwelmed by the farmers feast. After the meal, I thought it was the most overrated, overvalued tasting menu I've ever had. Uh oh. You guys are beginning to worry me. I'm going with two friends next Sunday evening, and we most definiely plan on the farmer's feast, as it will be the first visit to BH@SB for us all (we've each been to the one in the city previously). Fingers crossed...
  8. Rather than trying to convince Doc, Sucio, and others that this place is as great as some of us think it is, I'm just going to sit back quietly, and be at least a little bit thankful that not everyone thinks this place is the shit. Hell, I'm going again this weekend, too. It's been a few weeks.
  9. wow. nice work. can't wait to hear your impressions.
  10. cheese? murray's. after midnight? momofuku ssam. dinner? lemme sleep on it.
  11. just stumbled upon this thread and worked my way through the whole thing bravo, man hell of a spring break, i must say looking forward to your thoughts on the differences between American and European fine-dining
  12. I've gotta agree that the eel at Yasuda is outstanding. I've not had better anywhere else. The crunch of the sea salt is the perfect enhancement for what is already a phenomal product to begin with.
  13. Your description has made the engineer in me smile
  14. proposing in monaco at louis xv? baller indeed. i like how you roll, Si. and your ny itenerary is great, by the way. i'd definitely recommend the tasting at Daniel. it's around 6-7 courses, with two choices for each course, so you and your fiance could do a tandem tasting menu format. hell, go all out and throw in a cheese course, too. they have a fantastic cheese program. i went in there my first time worrying about being rushed, but there were absolutely no issues with this. service was damn near perfect, in fact. enjoy!

  16. Good to hear! I've got dinner reservation on April 15th. I look forward to your report!
  17. Hehe. Yeah, beyond the pretzel rolls at Per Se and the warm soft pretzels at Blaue Gans, I got nothin'...
  18. Admittedly, the nickname was not my creation. Stole it from Eater.
  19. Maybe 'cause you were wasting too much time over at Robuchon's. Hey man. I had some phenomenal meals at JRo. So back off! Heheh. Seriously, though, I feel like L'Atelier recently became a bit... boring and complacent. Is it possible for a restaurant this young to be complacent already? Guess part of that is due to it being a chain restaurant. High-end or not, a chain restaurant just operates on a formula. Nonetheless, EMP was already #1 on my never-ending NYC restaurant list, and your review has firmly cemented it there. It's only a matter of time until I make there. Hopefully sooner rather than later!
  20. That sounds friggin' phenomenal. Thanks for the beautiful pics and detailed insight as always, U.E. Why have I not yet tried this place under Humm?! I need to get moving...

    Babbo

The pumpkin (or sweet potato, depending on the season) lune are also delicious. As is the black spaghetti with rock shrimp, calabrese and green chiles. Oh, and about this time of year, the stinging nettle pappardelle with wild boar ragu. Oh man. As far as pasta dishes at Babbo go, you can hardly go wrong, it seems.
  22. Couple of friends and I stopped in for dessert at L'Atelier after dinner at Sushi Seki (which was damn good, by the way) Le Sucre was not on the menu The caramel souffle was horrendous In general, I think I'm over this place
  23. Well here's the tapioca and uni dish at Momofuku Ssam. Reminiscent seems a bit of a stretch to me but... ← Heheh. Okay, okay. Take a look at this picture, take away the stuff sprinkled on top of the whipped tofu, and voila! I'm not crazy. I promise!
  24. Good eye, U.E. I agree. Exhibit A: that pigeon dish. Yikes. And is it just me, or does that goat cheese foam with pistachio and beet dish look very reminscent of the tapioca and uni dish at Momofuku Ssam
  25. Oh, and JohnL: Not to worry, my friend. You are in very good hands. I can assure you of that.
