  1. megan small world- I was just reading Seattle Magazine and those Phat Beets were in it!
  2. Megan that meal sounds awesome!! I'm missing roast chicken with our oven still TU Abra we get La Ratte taters- our CSA farmer just delivered a cute net bag full of them to me last week. Check the farmers markets! Megan, when we were in town we tried to go to L'Etais Uni but they were closed- if you go I'd love to see some pictures!
  3. it was like old home night at Union last night- very funny! TallDrinkOfWater and I had a fabulous meal - cherrystone clams on the halfshell; sea urchin in an amazing salad of radish and cuc; pork belly (Holy Hell this rocked!) and the bass with artichokes and leeks in a butter sauce. butterscotch creme brulee on Shalmanese's advice (thanks!). Also spotted were Edlund and Jamie from Vessel- very fun and a nice surprise to see everyone!
  4. i was just wondering where you have been megan- obviously planning & gearing up! i'm sure it will be a great week. i request you have cocktails at the new death & co. and if you do and brian's working tell him seattle says hi and good luck with the new gig. suppose to be great- some pegu club people trying to break out on their own.
  5. ok, weird!! we just went here with mr and mrs. Ledlund and we all thought 1) it was very overpriced 2) the food was mediocre at best 3) the service was not good 4) the supposed 1/2 price tues wine night excluded 1/2 the menu!! we wont be going back- Way too many other good restaurants.
  6. Chufi they were really good! crunchy on the outside, soft and creamy inside. I would season more agressively next time with salt and maybe even a pinch of cayanne or something. ← One of the best seasonings for avocado that I've ever found was my Mom's favorite; Lawrey's Seasoned Salt. It has the perfect balance for the creamy yummy that is an avocado. Also any lemon and pepper that does NOT contain MSG. ← noted! thank you! tonight we both got home late so I made quick lamb curry served on rice with cilantro. syrah in the glass
  7. Chufi they were really good! crunchy on the outside, soft and creamy inside. I would season more agressively next time with salt and maybe even a pinch of cayanne or something.
  8. I may have missed someone answering snowangle but the half time show is Prince and he is from MN I think??? edited to say I just saw Suzi guessed this too
  9. oh my gosh you guys!!! that all sounds amazing...those ribs!! yum! last night I made grilled mushroom and fontina quesadillas with white truffle oil and a salad with a few wedges of fried avacado- I love to fry stuff!! I wonder if I have some scottish in me
  10. Sea beans if I'm not mistaken right? Although I think there are other names for them.
  11. wattacetti I LOVE the duck potatoe dish- something similar has been in my head as an amuse.... did you just boil the potatoes?? Dayne and I finally both got in the kitchen tonight- very fun we wrapped a pork tenderloin with thyme and bacon and put that on the grill pan, made a dumpling like spaetzle and sprinkled toasted panko bread crumbs on it and made one of my favorite blogger's winter salad of fennel, pear and blue cheese. 04 Cherry Hill PN in the glass
  12. welcome Gruzia! I love that big white bowl, I'm sure the dinner was quite tastey too!!! Shaya, it was very good- I usually eat pretty slow and a small amount but I wolfed it down and dayne said "is that going to be enough for you??" I rarely clean my plate but I just loved those flavors!
  13. great blog all, just getting a chance to get caught up on it. At least I guessed one person right! Pam did I see that you had tomatoes in your fridge? I have always felt that the taste really goes out of them once they are chilled? maybe I didn't even see them there- it could have been the pink ladies (love those too!)
  14. Daniel I love the riff on asparagus wrapped with proscuitto! you guys are very clever!!! did you blanch the beans, wrap and broil or pan fry or what? was the bacon crispy?? it all looks fab and I'm stealing some of your ideas!!
  15. dayne cooked again tonight- tandori style chicken skewers with rice and grilled onions
  16. TallDrinkOfWater made dinner tonight- we started with pomelo salad (nyoom kroit t'long) out of HSSS- excellent and nice and spicy!! then we had a chicken egg drop soup
  17. when I bring flowers I bring them in a vase so there is no need to run around- it does really throw me off a bit to find a vase and pull pots out of the sink to make way to fill it! I like the potted plants! I also like and have taken an interesting book for the hosts (something they have interest in), a beautiful candle with their initials (or anything with initials), honeys and/or jams to go with cheeses, pretty dishtowels, pretty cocktail napkins. my favorite hostess gift I ever got was some homemade bacon!!! NICE!
  18. ate at Elements tapas restaurant on Sat night- it was fantastic!! all the dishes were just perfect- tuna tartare, asparagus wrapped with proscuitto, foie gras- yum!!! that is a definately a place that will be repeated!
  19. and Union has a fantastic happy menu in the bar- the food is awesome!!! le pichet is perfect for a dinner too as you can get a glass or demi pichet of wine (2 1/2 glassses)
  20. no pool but the Monoco downtown gives you goldfish for your room! My friends kids have loved tours of Safeco Field, going to the aquarium, the Science center and Gameworks while in town
  21. mmmm... I really want quiche- gorgeous daniel and shaya all of that looks amazing but especially the chicken patties and the beef roll ups!! the other night we grilled some pork chops after marinating them in a really nice garlicy fish sauce/soy sauce conncoction. we also grilled some bok choy and brushed it with the same marinade. served with brown rice. tonight we just got back from a ski weekend at Whistler so we are eating some minestrone we had frozen. edited to put in the right picture
  22. I think that Cafe Juanita has a private room?? or maybe ask out at Barking Frog?? sorry- I don't know to much about the eastside.....
  23. FINALLY stopped into May last night with Della. we started downstairs with drinks and a few plates off their happy hour menu (chive pancakes and spare ribs both great with awesome dipping sauces!) Upstairs we had pad thai and grilled chicken with a green papaya salad- both were great as was the wine we had with it- nice mosel riesling. But the service hasn't picked up- it was slow!! downstairs and up. So go for the flavor but be patient I guess- no quick meals here.
  24. maybe even a few different lasagnas so people can try more than one? I love Gnocco Fritto with some nice salumi and a few chunks of parm recipe what about wolfert's pork and beans- remember in my Italy report I called it pork cooked like tuna and you said there is a recipe in Slow Med?? I think that would be beautiful!! you could do a pasta for primi- tort in broth or similar.
