I think my problem with Egullet is that I dont read alot.. I dont need to read an article if its going to tell me beer doesnt taste like crap if its skunked.. It has not stopped me under extreme situation...If, you tell me it doesnt happen to wine, I believe you..

Thanks Craig, Do you have any thoughts on Goldwater?

    Whoops...

Last night we were drinking Sauvignon Blanc, Goldwater.. A glass into our second bottle, we stopped drinking.. We left the bottle in the freezer over night. This morning the bottle was frozen but, not broken.. I tossed it in the fridge.. Q: Is it still drinkable.. Or do I need to drink another bottle before not caring.. Is this bottle skunked?
  5. Palm????????????????????????????????????????????? Sparks??????????????????????????????????????????? 21 Club??????????????????????????????????????????? ← Whoops didnt see that.. Then I would say go to Dock's on a Monday night for there lobster fest.. One of the less expensive lobster deals in Manhatttan.. Its something like 2 1lb lobsters or 1 2lb lobster with sides for something in the $30 range..
  6. I dont know about that suggestion. I am a fan of Centro Vasco, but for an 80th bday,eh.. For a lobster I would say something more old school.. Like a Pietro's.. Maybe a Palm... I think the Palm is a great choice..A long this lines and a lesser choice would be Dock's.. Sparks also but, its too hectic and you will wait.. Also if the 21 club had lobster..
  7. Ann that looks great! What are your thoughts on red eye gravy with that ham..
  8. Breakfast today was, I think my first bowl of Captain Crunch.. Ate it in bed with the little one while watching leap frog.. It was a lot of fun, but that cereal is not going to be purchased again anytime soon.. Wow there is sugar in that thing..
  9. That is one of the ugliest looking plates I have ever seen.. The tomato is like the cherry on top...Is that paprika sprinkled around the plate? Also is that fried egg at 8 o'clock? I missed this thread..
  10. I have been saying this for years.. People stay away from vegetables.. Who knows what they put in that stuff..

Wow Egullet is great.. Welcome Dawn.. Thank you for helping us with any questions.. To tell you the truth, I really have nothing to ask you at this point.. I have been growing lettuce on one of my aerogardens with great results.. My tomatoes are also coming in perfectly.. You have a great product! I hope you look around and participate in other forums that catch your eye! Please feel free to give us updates as they come.. I found another good use for the aerogarden the other night. I was stumbling into my dark living room trying to find a book and the lamp was on the other side of the room.. I hit the light button on the aerogarden and it help me find my way.. Dont know if you want to list that in as a feature
  12. Nice.. Sounds good and thanks for your advice.. I hit up a little Super Dog tonight after hearing there was a 1/2 hour wait by 7.. The girl who answered the phone said they are closed on Monday but, Next Door is opened.. What is Next Door? Same food different atmosphere? Is it literally next door?
  13. Ok.. After coming to Des Plaines and Rosemont, for the last 6 years, 8 times a year, I finally rented a car.. I was watching my favorite Chicago Show last night.. The name now escapes me, but basically they take three people and have them each choose a restaurant.. They all go to each others choices and then discuss the food.. Francesco's really caught my eye and I am thinking of going.. Has anyone been here and is it worth the ride from Rosemont.. Having exhausted every place in town.. Is it worth traveling to eat here? Its only 19 miles away.. I am here to next friday so I was thinking of going sometime next week.. I am assuming a hole in the wall will be packed the next couple of days.. Thanks.

Yes.. I would uh grow orchids in that thing too.. Jgm, I have yet to really look into growing my own things.. But I am sure you can do it.. I am almost done with my lettuce and will start growing something else.. I will see what needs to be done..
  16. Giorgione.. Have you looked into that..

    Japonais

Has anyone been here recently? Or heard how the place is doing?
  19. I know they start answering the phone at 1130..
  20. I like Giorgione.. I want to say the back area which is nicely lit and has skylights would fit a party of 20.. But I would call and ask or go look for yourself.. I dont know the prices of wines, but they have some great pizza and solid risottos and fresh ingredients.. I could tell you one thing.. Last night, craving simple American Red Sauce found myself at Carmine's.. I havent been there since someone's 21st brithday years ago.. They definitely could accommodate the party, but the food was below that of any pizza parlor in New Jersey. Otto is another good choice IMO but, I dont believe one could get out of there at 40 bucks a head and drink a lot..
  21. Wow.. that sucks.. Sorry you guys had that experience. The last time I went there, they over cooked a dish of mine too.. It was a veal dish.. They took it back and brought us out a porkchop cooked sous vide with out me asking.. But you wrote "Almost every dish was missing something...a sauce, an emulsion, something to bind the ingredients together. something to demonstrate artistry (especially at the price point...in ambience and location The Tasting Room is a "neighborhood restaurant"...heck, I literally live a block and a half down the street...unfortunately, with $15 apps and $30 entrees (on average)...its prices evince a stronger ambition)." Well that goes passed overcooking some veal.. I can only hope its just opening problems and the Fall menu will be stronger.. I still am looking forward to trying it..
  22. This was my breakfast this morning.. Two eggs fried in butter with diced hash browns and onions.. I also had Niman Ranch Bacon.. I must say, its a good bacon, a little too scrawny, nothing beats Schaller and Weber.. White toast and butter. A Screwdriver.
