That cassoulet looks awesome! ...As was the entire blog. Thank you for the recipe for the fruit terrine. It's a beauty, too. As much as I enjoyed the photos of all your wonderful shopping places, your last dinner put the icing on the birthday cake for this blog! ...Sorry, terrible pun intended. Many thanks to you and yours.

I wonder if G-man had the "upcoming" dinner party in July and if so, what he decided upon to go with the crabcakes!
-
Sorry for the delay... I found the recipe on paper, and then luckily (to save me from having to type it), I found the recipe online. I lived on the Eastern Shore of Delmarva my whole life before moving to Florida, and considered myself well able to make a fine crab cake; however, this recipe beat all: Eastern Shore Crab Cakes, by Linda Beaulieu from Cooking.com. The Sweet Corn and Onion Relish is really good, too.

Today I made corned beef hash with leftover crock pot corned beef, and Russ made the boiled eggs. Back to leaner weekday breakfasts or brunches tomorrow.....

Yes, I do. Give me a few moments to see if I can find the recipe I'm thinking about in amongst my unorganization which exists at the moment. I bought a new file cabinet, and I'm in the middle of cleaning out drawers and closets!

Thanks, Melissa! I want to try these babies.

I don't think I've ever seen miniature English muffins... Where are they sold?
-
Holy shit. I was afraid of that. However, I probably will go look at it the next time I'm in the Mall of Millenia to -- I like what you said -- lust after it more effectively.

They look delicious! I love sliders, but silly me, I never knew the full meaning of why they are called sliders.

Those plates are GORGEOUS. ← Oh my. I want the Palm 2 pattern, seriously. Where are the prices? And I want the Colloseum flatwear to go with it. I haven't decided which stemware I want yet. In my dreams.....

I'm in. LOL, same here, Klary! Ay, there's the rub. That's it... I used to be this way about antique tableware, but I've gotten worse and love contemporary stuff, too. I continue to feed my addiction (pardon the pun). What I did with antiques was buy one single plate of what I liked instead of sets, and just use a different plate for each person and a big mix and match of all kinds of tableware -- and yeah, including bone dishes. ...One must have bone dishes!!

If you have a fridge and microwave at work, it's limitless. If I made a habit of eating lunch everyday, I would pack whatever leftovers there are and heat them up in the microwave, or bring a big salad to store in the fridge. The obvious is sandwiches, but I imagine that since you posted this question, sandwiches don't interest you much. If it's a change from sandwiches you're looking for, maybe a flour torilla wrap instead. I could eat sandwiches every day! When I do pack, I often take fruit and/or cheese. In one of my jobs back in the day, I kept some milk in the fridge and cereal on hand, and ate that mid-morning instead of lunch. I love lunch food, and have no trouble thinking of ideas, but maybe that's because I don't eat lunch on a regular basis. It's like a treat to me. Raw vegetables with a creamy salad dressing to dip them in... The idea of microwave-baking a potato is a great one... Goya black beans right out of the can... Leftovers that you don't have to heat up, such as a piece of chicken or cold pizza if you're so inclined... Triscuits and lunch meats... Supermarket sushi...

Good Morning to All and Happy Weekend! Ling, did you stay up late or get up early? Nice looking breakfast you've got lined up. I did the blueberries on cereal thing the other day. This morning a friend and I are meeting at the ocean for breakfast and walking. We've had sunny weather with highs near 80 for the past few days, and we've been taking advantage of that before it gets cold again this weekend.

Thanks for reporting back, Jason. It's good to have feedback from the receiving end of shipments.

Megan, your mother does sound wonderful. I've thought that before, but it's confirmed if she sends you Honeybells! I have not had one yet this January. I hope I haven't missed my chance. A couple of years ago when I went to the company I usually use for shipments, they were no longer selling them to walk-ins; they had been promised to orders. It made me think I should send a shipment to myself, five miles away. Anyway, I thought of you yesterday as I ate a nice juicy sweet Florida tangerine with my morning coffee. Percy just when I think you've posted it all, you come up with even another delicious-sounding "twist" to your breakfasts! ...Some truffle butter on top. But of course! Today, to break my fast other than coffee, I don't know yet. This is my last day off before going back to the day job (I've been off for three weeks!), it's a lazy morning, and I haven't eaten anything yet. I think I'll take some blueberries out of the freezer and have them on cereal.

We just spent Christmas in Key West, so my reports are fairly current! I've been intending to write about our good meals, but haven't yet. I'll start by saying that the restaurant at our hotel was wonderful (!). We stayed at the Hilton Resort and Marina, which is right at Mallory Square where the sunset celebration is each night. Their restaurant, Bistro 245, has been really good every time we've eaten there, and was great during this trip as well. Besides our meals there, which were on the upscale side, we bummed around and stuck with old favorites and ate a lot of bar food... The Half Shell Raw Bar, Margaritaville, Sloppy Joe's, etc. Nothing was bad. We drank three good meals a day. I hope to get back to this post soon with more info.

You New Yorkers have great eating places right around your corners. I'm envious of that aspect of living up north. I see that all the locations are in the Northeast, including DC. Anyone have an idea of how far south this corporation might go? I would gladly pay $15.00 to add shaved truffle to a sandwich! ...Soft shell crab BLT with that addition, oh my.

Near 60?!! ...That's the low at night that I am forced to tolerate. Have fun, guys! I'll be thinking of you, will toast to your honor, and look forward to hearing about it. Post pics, please! Cheers!

We hope you take interest!! Thanks for the post! Tonight a Tupper's Hop Pocket Ale, followed by a Victory Hop Wallop. Oh my. -
Looks good, RP and all my Philly beer friends, but no way can I leave the warmth of FL to brave the cold up north for this one..... Please do report back!

.....Oh my. Egg porn really is something. It gets to me. Really... all food porn is wonderful, but good photography of eggs... 'nuf said -- don't want to get censored.

The last two times we were there, our favorite was Mark's Las Olas. Have you already dined there as part of this visit? If not, I recommend it, unless it has unexpectedly changed since I was in Fort Lauderdale which was four or five years ago.

What Beers Did You Drink Today? Or Yesterday? (Part 1)

We flew into San Diego Thursday night and when we checked into our suite, my son had Stone Levitation Ale in the fridge for us! It did taste good. Prior to that we drank Dos Equis on tap at the airport while we were waiting for our luggage which was three hours late flying in. Friday we found draft beer heaven downtown. We went to Yard House, which claims to have the largest selection of draft beer in the state or country or something, and we drank Anderson Valley Hop Ottin’ IPA, Coronado Mermaid Red Ale, and Hobglobin English Ale. It's good beer country here. Yesterday we visited Stone Brewing Co., which has moved (more to come about that) and drank Arrogant Bastard Ale, which is now my current favorite beer, and the IPA. Today, more of that IPA and some Sierra Nevada Pale Ale... -
We had some of those when we were in Denmark/Europe last year for the holidays. To Klary and to everyone, wherever you are, thank you for all contributions to this thread and all eGullet, and Happy 2006! From Susan in FL, visiting San Diego, California, USA to see in the new year.....

Hello Dinner Thread Buddies from the San Diego Airport where we just ate nachos and burritos courtesy of food vouchers from United Airlines, waiting for our delayed luggage to arrive! ...No photos, but in a week or two, I will have some catching up to do including some good photos of dinners/Christmas in Key West.
