  1. Is Emmaus close enough? I've heard good things about The Farmhouse: http://www.lehighvalley.org/default.aspx?pageid=387
  2. ← The foreward in the Balthazar Cookbook says that they use top butt for the steak frites.
  3. Sweet Lucy's was VERY busy this evening. The food was excellent--pulled chicken, ribs, brisket, baked beans, garlic mashed, potato salad, cole slaw, cornbread. Does anyone know if you can BYOB there??
  4. I have been wanting to try that. My exepectations are not very high as most everythin gi have had from Lancaster Brewing has been a average at best. I like the milk stout. Their other beers, as you've said, are pretty average.
  5. Last night I had Lancaster Brewing Co.'s new IPA, Hop Hog. My first impression was that it was pretty average. Not very hoppy and a bit on the thin side. The hops that were there were one dimensional. It's not the worst IPA I've ever had, but it's certainly nowhere near Hop Devil.
  6. Sacrilege! Bassett's banana is my favorite ice cream on the planet (and I've had Coldstone's banana on a few occasions--it's good when mixed with brownies and peanuts). Coldstone ice cream is too cold, so it freezes your tastebuds, and it's not as creamy or banana-y as Bassett's, IMNSHO.
  7. What label is placed on heterosexuals who, either by choice or for biological reasons, do not breed?
  8. I'm addicted to the spinach/tomato.
  9. Same here. I like more balance. My favorite sauce is a blend of ketchup, cider vinegar and brown sugar (pretty much equal parts) with a few extras thrown in--Worcestershire, cayenne, dry mustard, honey, red pepper flakes, etc.

    Thomas Hardy's Ale

I'd invite a few beer loving friends over and have a tasting. It's not always about the money...
  11. It's on Cinnaminson Ave, on the left as you're about to enter Palmyra, across from a cemetary (where legend has it that a witch is buried!!). Are you familiar with the intersection at the old Caldor? It would be, heading south on 130 from Whistler's Inn, the second light. Take the jughandle (bear right) just before the light; continue to bear right (do not go back out to 130) and this will put you on Cinna. Ave. Georgetti's is about a mile down the road.
  12. Severino's in Westmont and Georgetti's in Cinnaminson both sell heat & eat Italian dishes. Both also makes their own sauces and pasta; Georgetti's white clam sauce is excellent.
  13. Had 'em tonight for dinner, with wings. The ribs were tasty, smoked perfectly, but the meat was a little to soft and fell off the bone. I prefer just a little more chew to the meat. The wings were perfect. Flying Fish ESB on tap. Yum.
  14. At one time the same guy owned the Jug and Whistler's. I'm pretty sure he sold the Jug a few years ago. So unless one of the places has messed with the recipe, the wings are pretty much the same. I can't think of a place where I've had better wings. I like Whistler's sauce. I'm not sure if it's homemade or something they buy then tweak with a few of their own extra ingredients.
  15. That's my neighborhood bar (when I actually get out of the house to go to a bar). I think their ribs are great--meaty and not oversmoked. They're smoked right out back, in a smokehouse that is a few hundred years old (I think). A half rack of ribs and a plate of wings is my standard order when I eat there. Now if they'd just do something with their beer selection...
  16. That stretch of Delaware Ave has been taken over by the big box stores and chain restaurants. But for the river, you wouldn't know the differnce between that area and King of Prussia, Cherry Hill or some other suburban mall area. Good thing John's and Tony Luke's are right around the corner.
  17. Lou and Ann's is right down the street from my office, and I've never been there. I will have to check it out. Do they use Erlton Bakery bread, or is there another Camden bakery?
  18. It's "World Showcase." I'm pretty sure you need to buy a ticket for Epcot if you want to eat at one of the restaurants there. So add $120 to you dinner tab.
  19. I use my smoker when I can plan ahead and Sweet Lucy's when I need a quick fix. Is the indoor location on the same side of the street as the truck was or is it across the street?
  20. Jughandle Inn, Rt 73, Cinnaminson, NJ (it might be Pennsauken or Maple Shade). Their wings are the best I've ever had.
  21. I've been to the Chop House 3 or 4 times. I have had 3 or 4 great meals. The beef, the sides, the dessert and the service were all excellent.

    Clear Glass Bottles

...and I can't remember one clear glass English beer I've had that hasn't been skunked to some degree, so I've stopped buying beer in clear (and green) glass.

    Clear Glass Bottles

My guess is that some marketing consultant told them that it looks "classy" or "unique" and would result in greater sales.
