People needing bait for fishing? Sorry could not resist 😇

Daytime temperatures have finally started to edge up into the 20's (C.) and nighttime temperatures are staying above 5. Northern bed (from left) onions, Roma bush beans (just sprouting), tomatoes, hot peppers, perennial herbs, garlic and trellising sugar snap peas and long beans. There's also parsley, little gem lettuces and more onions planted in with the tomatoes and peppers. Tarragon, rosemary and sage. And some of the tomatoes and peppers. South bed of mostly lettuces, chards and beets (for the greens) Snow peas for the lattice. And a pot of chives and two of cilantro. Grow bag with a Black Krim tomato that will eventually be supported on the south bed trellis.

I keep a clipboard slipped into the cookbook bookcase in the kitchen area. Page for 'to cook', 'to use', future projects and an 'in/out' list to limit visits to the main freezer. Page itemizing the main freezer contents.

Egg, chorizo, aged cheddar, tomato, lettuce and green onion on a toasted soft bun. Strawberries on the side.

Where's the 'WOW' button when you need it.

Lazy gardening day dinner. Gojuchang wings with herbed blue cheese dip, pickled red onion, mini cucumbers and tomato. Keith's IPA.

It's really heavily laden with preservatives. Whatever the atmosphere it was bagged in, since that type of wrapping would allow gas exchange, would have been replaced by the ambient atmosphere long ago. Scary.

Oven baked haddock over shrimp roe noodles pan fried with shanghai choy, chili crisp oil, garlic and fish sauce. With a tomato and finished with green onion tops and cilantro.

I'm trying a few new things this season (always try to do at least one every year). This year it's red shiso and spicy globe basil and I'll post a photo if things go well. I also picked up a Carolina Reaper seedling and will give it a go beside my habaneros, serranoes and jalapenos.

Missed this when I was otherwise occupied last week. Great photos. Looks like it was a great trip. -
Yard Sale, Thrift Store, Junk Heap Shopping (Part 3)
Senior Sea Kayaker replied to a topic in Kitchen Consumer
Picked this up at a yard sale last weekend that I stopped by on a whim. Gratin dish, copper bottom, brass handles and unknown lining. There aren't any manufacturer's markings. $2 Cdn.- 658 replies

A few recent dinners. Pulled pork, mushroom and cheddar dip on toasted baguette with mixed green and tomato salad. Enjoyed with a Nine Locks 'Bohemian Raspberry Berliner Weisse' sour. This was an excellent sour and a keeper.. Haddock, ham, cheddar and greens on toasted WW bagel with a tomato and cucumber salad. I would like to say enjoyed with a Breton Brewing Grapefruit IPA however the IPA was disappointing. Caught up on a week of the Breakfast and Dinner topics. Lots of good looking food.

I had a busy last week and was off grid most of the time. Doing daytrips to check out fishing spots, trails and foraging areas so made enough food for quick hearty breakfasts, lunches for the road and quick meals when getting back home. Pulled pork and mushrooms, egg, aged cheddar and greens on WW bagel with cherries and gazpacho. The pulled pork, mushroom and egg was a great combination and I had this, with variations such as added tomato and/or different fruit, four times. This morning's much more relaxed breakfast. First breakfast of choclatine and coffee and second breakfast of Western sandwich of egg, ham, onion, bell and Thai chilis, chives, dill and Italian parsley.

I finally got around to making the hasseltots described by @blue_dolphin awhile back. With eggs scrambled with red Thai chilis, green onion tops and cilantro and sausage. The potatoes were tasty and I would do them again (I think they would be a fun addition to a breakfast for young children).

Cleaning / Disinfecting with White Distilled Vinegar

Try taking advice from those with the appropriate scientific backgrounds and not citing clickbait as reliable sources. Of course you can do whatever you want. -

Where to start. I'll start where @gfweb left off. Acetic acid is NOT a sanitizing agent. It will dissolve the scale on cookware and inside coffee machines but in no way has any effect on bacterial contamination. Those are very different chemical treatments. Can't imagine you've 'heard this said' but really bad advice. Use soap. -
@weinoo thanks for posting this. I remember Snowdon's well and the last time I was there would have been the late '90's. I moved from Montreal in 1980 for grad school however during my undergrad years our Saturday night ritual was to head to Schwatz's to eat. It was the most convenient since many of us lived east of the university district. Back then it was hardly the tourist trap it is today and our go to order would be a platter of smoked meat (priced by weight), a platter of pickles, cherry cokes and rye bread. Then off to one of my classmates homes to catch SNL. I hope you had some good bagels when you were there. That was what we referred to as the 'pothole fillers at work sign'.

Enjoying a sunny day on the deck. The overnight temperatures are still too low so I still have to bring the tomato, pepper, cucumber and zucchini plants indoors. The other pots and planters are cold tolerant I'm hoping to get the transplants in next week.

Green onion 'pancake', hummus with parsley, egg with chives, mini cucumber with dill, the last of my castelvetrano olives, gazpacho and kiwi.

@KennethT Nice looking pho (another thing I miss going out for). How about a few photos of your indoor herb garden? I can't recall seeing any recently.

Salmon rubbed with gochujang and fish sauce and grilled, shrimp roe noodles, blistered shishitos, nori and finished with green onion tops and cilantro. Enjoyed with a dry Lake City cider. Not shown are a side of cherry tomatoes and sliced mini cucumbers.

Woke up to 5 C. and a blue sunrise and it looks like we're in for a high of 17 C. with sun and cloud so a great day to get some garden construction done and a walk in the woods. Egg with a sprinkling of green onion tops, blood sausage, toasted WW bagel, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms and house peameal bacon. It'll probably be 8-9 hours before I get hungry.
