    Eggplant/Aubergine

    hotter pan?
  3. hmm.....gluttony to me is eating not for taste, pleasure or nourishment, but more to make sure no one else gets the food in question. it's just a shade of greed. it's eating way past your point of fulfillment. romans and vomitoriums come to mind.
  4. this has piqued my curiosity - could you expand a little? thanks!
  5. omg - i've actually heard of these grease trucks. and the fat cats!

    CHEERWINE

this is true - altho i find it down ehre in atlanta every once in a while. i can definitely vouch for 17 around wilmington, tho, as that was the first place i ever had it. (on my way up to Camp LeJeune)
  7. hmmm..i don't drink gin, and i prefer scotch. (will drink bourbon as well, but it depends ont he drink)

yeah - grocery stores definitely - but again, you're more likely to find a grocery store on 17 then you are on 95. and that way you can stock up on cases and cases of it.
  9. something i was thinking about too - rape (rapeseed oil/canola oil) is part of the brassica (sp?) family - along with brussel sprouts and other cruciferous veggies. it might be a person to person variation in sensitivity to it.
  10. heh - i was gonna say the same thing!
  11. hee hee - that's what i was thinking of doing actually. my bloody marys, soon to be bloody bulls are the best. (at least as far as i'm concerned)
  12. creme brulee, creme caramel, flan etc, etc..love it all.
  13. aww the poor thing. well whatever, at least she had a crowd-pleaser as well.
  14. *lmao* that's disgusting!
  15. was the red velvet cake bad, or were people just not used to it? "this is....interesting" is the death-knell for any cook.
  16. Cheers! i agree. simply because i've got a cocktail for all occassions. then again i've got those "rum and coke with a twist of lime no matter what" friends as well.
  17. dang, dave - i'm gonna try that next year...with all my scientific approach to potato mashing this year (directly from the class) mine still wound up heavy and gloopy. i was also afraid of taking the egg-beater to them - i have a feeling if i had, it would have made them lighter, but i like the mashed potato "souffle" idea.
  18. *lol* actually it didn't come with desk itself - it came with the desk organizer. which was already pre-filled. (apparently office supplies are at a premium here so you take what you can get) i did in fact take anti-bacterial spray stuff to the whole thing, but i figured the condiments and wet wipes could stay. you think keyboards are gross, try cracking open people's pcs for a living. nasty stuff in them thar machines.....
  19. i'll actually have to go with my broccoli casserole. (i've never made one before, and never even looked at a recipe) basically what i did was make a bechamel, added some sharp cheddar and a splash of white wine, a smidge of salt, white pepper and garlic, and the sauce was fabulous. i then steamed the broccoli, perfectly, in the microwave, and topped with cheese sauce, and crumbled up ritz. into the overn at 350 for 30 minutes, and it was fabulous, and got rave reviews. i was thrilled, simply because it was my first time ever, and i wasn't working from a recipe.
  20. maybe i've lucked out in that i've never been intimate enough with a goat to associate a certain smell to goat cheese. (not that i particularly like the cheese)
  21. god..i want that bloody bull....NOW.
  22. i just checked my drawers.... 1 jar planters dry-roasted peanuts (a large jar - i eat some for breakfast every day) 1 package of saltines (the kind you get with soup) 1 partially eaten odwalla bar 1 packet Numi dry desert lime herbal tea 2 lipton brisk tea packets 1 salt/pepper combo packet; 1 pepper packet 2 packets popeye's hot sauce 1 packet popeye's honey 2 packets soy sauce wetwipes most of this stuff came with the desk, strangely enough.

we had a fabulous cranberry relish involving cranberries, kumquat, a little candied ginger, and sugar (all fresh) man is it good. great palate cleanser too.

take 17 instead when you hit the carolinas - far more rustic, and much more fun to look at then 95. lots of 4-corner stops with gas stations that will sell it alongside some nice boiled peanuts (int he crockpot of course). buy some. (don't be scared of hepatitis) especially if you go through wilmington - you are sure to find cheerwine there.
