My point exactly ... nothing will be allowed to diminish Keller or his well earned legend status in any way shape or form ...
-
Maybe you'll give us the street address of this charming establishment??
-
Not WEVD ... aren't they extinct?? a little background here on this station.
-
Filtering their water?? Have any of us left any religious group unoffended??

Hardware store clerk: Cut to shot of a huge line of Hasidim waiting in line at the hardware store, PUR water filter boxes in hand... Cut to laughing anchorwoman. I am hysterically laughing at this one, Jon!! Because it has such a ring of truth to it!! and I can visualize the entire scene ... Perhaps they need to move to the Hillcrest Jewish Center, next to the highly recommended Chinese restaurant under rabbinical supervision?? See this thread wherein Jason and I "rib" each other mercilessly .. extra ribs for takeout .... the egg roll thread ....
-
And that fact alone acts as a motivation for the seniors at the Hillcrest Jewish Center to sing along with each other "Staying Alive"? Or do they simply content themselves with "take out" on Sunday evenings? I, personally, would sign up to move in there (HJC), based entirely on this cuisine, when I am of a sufficient age .... Its not a nursing home. Its a Synagogue. And yes, I've even seen the rabbis eat there. Well, that clinches the deal!! Putting a down payment on a room tomorrow morning .. move in by Tisha b'Av!!

The recipe looks good, except for this: serves 1 on the top left side .... 4703 Calories while I love ice cream dearly , this is a bit of a stretch for me calorically ...
-
That is why I said a misprint .. can't be right ... Yes, read my Caffeine Blog as I post this.... later on in the week ... If I am not too shaky from excess caffeine .... what parameters will meet our impossibly high standards?? a rubric for this??
-
a lot of expresso? 3 teaspoons regular instant to 1 teaspoon expresso? why bitter? none too certain .. I will take your challenge on this .. where shall we have the taste-off? Cooks Illustrated TV?? Wait a moment ..looks to be a misprint in the WS recipe!! 3 TBSP expresso??
-
You may be right on the expresso ratio here ... Thank you for the Williams Sonoma recipe!!
-
I really enjoy making this recipe and am pleased every time with the finished ice cream made in my Cuisinart!
-
Crisis resolved? therefore the answer was, in fact, correct about the home filtration system!

eeewwwwwww ....

Suckorific egg rolls in San Francisco?? Say it ain't so, ingrid!!
-
Waited until someone else brought this up here .. maybe because water isn't so much food as, well, water .. and there is a religious aspect also involved ... anyone know about the one part in sixty rule?? Actually, it doesn't actually apply here... but since you mentioned it, decided that even if I live in Atlanta, one can't be too cautious so, in the interim, have bought a very fine micro chinois to strain my water and, of course, consulting local rabbis ...

Hysterical!!

Not Jestine's in Charleston for me as much as Hyman's Seafood there!! Shrimp and grits from heaven!! Went back several times just to make sure I was in possession of this "nectar from the gods"! Huge white South Carolina shrimp, soft creamy clouds of grits, and a divinely decadent brown gravy! Forgive me for waxing poetic but this stuff was the real thing for me!!
-
Wondering about that myself ... not authentic sans grits, you know ... The mother of his girlfriend is already borderline compulsive-obsessive (about the turkey at Thanksgiving!!), how could she not have offered grits with the breakfast?? Boggles the (southern) mind .... which needs no boggling in this summer heat!
-
Cost effectiveness .... Actually, in all honesty, egg rolls are not what they once were ... but then the prices have increased exponentially and the ingredients are decreasing, in both quality and variety, as well as size ... sign 'o ' the times ...
-
Because you are originally from the South or because of your new diet?? (makes the possibly erroneous assumption that biscuits are now verboten on this diet)
-
Warning: this message NOT approved by the United States Surgeon General. fats and flour.. what a friend we have in them!!
-
Wait just a minute here, Mabelline!! Aren't you living in Montana these days?? What do they eat there??
-
A lovely weekend repast to be sure!! Some questions for you now: (1) Are you planning to try to replicate this type of meal in your home in the North? (2) Will those grits and red-eye gravy taste the same out of their native habitat? (3) Is this breakfast not the quintessential sign of gracious southern living or what???? (4) What can be used in the place of those ethereal biscuits until you return to this nirvana? (5) Surprised that the South didn't win the Civil War with these type of morning meals??? I rather enjoyed my British Breakfasts in London, but that is another story for another morning!! Thanks for letting me "rib" you ... say, did you eat any barbecued ribs on this same trip??
-
Thank you, fifi, for yet another variation to be tried and enjoyed with gusto! Can't be easy, secreting the chunk of meat to protect it against hungry invaders (or hoardes, as you call them! ) ... and then having to explain its reappearance later in the form of this posole! Kudos on what appears to be a delightful recipe!!
