  1. Metroactive San Jose is where I start when I visit this part of California .. and the thread here on Manresa which is in nearby Los Gatos makes for some interesting reading as well ....The Manresa Thread Shortly, we'll probably hear from tanabutler who lives nearby, a highly reliabe and trustworthy source of info on all things in this area!!
  2. Very nice tribute, chefseanbrock, and most meaningful because it is one chef to another. I will most definitely try his creations in the near future based upon your glowing recommendation! Thank you for your input.
  3. John Talbott, where were these places when I was in Paris some five years ago with my vegetarian daughter? She could find nothing to eat without the obligatory jambon or ecrivisses ... it was the one thing that marred an otherwise ethereal visit to the City of Lights ... we wound up eating at an Italian restaurant on the Champs d'Elysees because at least they had pasta without meat. Thank you for the listings and, should I ever return, I will offer my daughter the list with no small measure of glee!
  4. Dining news from Naples, Florida and there follows a marvelous, long list of Naples restaurants.
  5. Ever the pragmatist! Re Cinnabon: best picture I ever saw was of some Osama-looking men sitting at a Cinnabon, wearing turbans made out of huge Cinnabons ...
  6. Some time ago, we had a thread on Krispy Kreme Variations upon a Theme: here which had some equally interesting spinoffs, not unlike these "divine temptations" which you have just described ....
  7. Care to brew up some 'pilliabaisse'? Know whereof I speak, and, yes, I have often considered doing this myself, Ruth ....
  8. This sounds amazing. Any chance of a recipe? Possible?? uses some of the same ingredients ...
  9. Cool. $150 a pound for cinnamon. Now there's a good racket. Well, you did ask .... Just buy cinnamon in your local grocery and enjoy!!
  10. Cinnamon capsules! See what you think .. until then, simply add it to your daily foods straight from the jar ...
  11. The article from New Scientist.com Perhaps we have overlooked, but are now seeing more clearly, how different foods can be invaluable in providing health benefits .. Dr. Andrew Weill has been a big proponent of this for a long time. Agree? Much to do about nothing? Baking an apple pie right now?
  12. faux beurre? pareve margarine noisette? ewwww ... but you know it must be a fairly good substitute or no one will bother to eat there ....
  13. My pleasure, Curlz, to be sure! I loved my trip to Charleston last year and adored the white shrimp and grits dishes, especially the ones I ate at Hyman's Seafood... touristy, sure, but great seafood, which is, after all, what drives the dining scene in Charleston.
  14. Of course, that should have been obvious to me initially ... my apologies ... multiple memberships are even better than multiple orgasms ...
  15. I understand that it hurts, however, if one gets into a specialized group dedicated to only one facet of a lifestyle, doesn't that rather limit the exposure a more heterogeneous group might afford in learning (new chef/cook information)? Why further limit one's outlook? and no one can always avoid people who offer "anti-anything" discourse .... there is certainly no protection afforded anyone any longer ... just my opinion ... expanding rather than limiting is my life motto these days ...
  16. Looks like kosher dining has come a very long way from schmaltz-and-brisket-potato kugel fusion to: ---The Gifted Fly on the Wall Gourmet
  17. Why would one's sexual preferences be an issue over their culinary common interests? Isn't there already enough compartmentalizing and specializing in this world?
  18. Not all elitist Jews live in New York, if I might remind you ever so gentilely ...
  19. Had lunch today with a friend who had been to RuSans in Atlanta just last evening and he absolutely raved about the sushi! He even mentioned having something he found quite unusual: anchovy sushi ... anyone familiar with this type of sushi?
  20. Elaine's on Franklin website Their menu looks extremely interesting! and their chef is equally appealing: Enjoy your meal and happy birthday, scottie!
  21. Sho' nuff! da missing link is here .. as per your request, Curlz, this is a well described look through Fat Guy's eyes with some great pictures ... goes way back to 2002, the entire thread ...
  22. Which, when one thinks about it, is not all that unreasonable actually. Kosher meals, for a variety of reasons, are not inexpensive, and, with the wine pairings, rather cost appropriate. Look forward to your full , and highly detailed review, Bloviatrix de Bruni!
  23. That was my "take" as well, on the timing .. (not unlike Bill Clinton's book being released today, just in time to help push the Kerry campaign ... ) But then I am such a skeptic when it comes to "hidden motives" ... surely, Sirio is not being of much assistance in helping me in the rethinking of my suspicions ...
  24. Even more on Le Cirque and Sirio, the sexiest man in the business.... a little of the "backstory" on Sirio Maccioni
  25. Well, now that you ask, sure, I have used Alpo Helper but far prefer the stuff au naturel ...
