  1. Bloviatrix, I did a search on eG and found no discussions at all by Katie or anyone else .. and on Google?Your search - Tierra Selva j Yecle Dolce - did not match any documents.
  2. I was finally able to order this online, Rogov, from one of the few places who were willing to send it to me in Georgia. Apparently, this is the one state which is an issue to many wine sellers and almost all websites listed omit Georgia. In any event, it has been ordered and it received a score of 92 from you therefore I trust it to be perfect for my purposes! Todah rabbah!
  3. one of a few discussions at eG about Key West food another discussion on Key West food .. with pictures!
  4. click for dining options for Islamorada and then there is this: groceries in Key West (click on seafood to be amazed!!)
  5. Just did a bit of research on the authenticity of Southern macaroni & cheese dishes and have come to understand that the bread crumbs (sometimes replaced by saltine crumbs) were put on top of the casserole to absorb the excess oils from the butter. And, it appears, that some did use them while others did not ... nothing very revelatory but interesting nonetheless!
  6. Thank you all so much for the assistance in my pursuit of kosher dessert wines! I will look into how to purchase some of them online. Have learned a great deal from your replies and websites!

  9. Worth considering ... have bought some kosher port online while tracking down the kosher icewine ... the day shouldn't be a total waste, of course ...
  10. Thanks, both Pam and Andrea, for helping me out here ... will also check out what Daniel Rogov has to say on this topic ... yet another possibility ...
  11. When religion and superstition occasionally overlap, I am reminded of why I don't hold with superstition ... when I was a child and went to services in a reform Jewish temple, a part of the service (near the end) involved a section which I invariarably wound up looking at my mother (who held a huge number of superstitious beliefs ) ... the lines I recall from the Union Prayerbook read something to the effect of hoping for a day in which "superstition no longer enslaves the mind nor idolatry blinds the eye" ... Food superstitions I find fascinating but hold no belief in any of them ...
  12. At one time I had located a kosher eiswein online (the photograph used had a blue background) and would love to buy some for Passover. Have since lost the website among my saved wine favorites in the interim. I have used Google with a variety of search terms but cannot locate what I am searching for. If you know of a way to locate a bottle of this wine, and it is kosher, I would be more than grateful! Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to provide!
  13. Haven't thought about this topic in a long time until I read this today: that seems to make sense ... Old Superstitutions website

    Kugels

Melissa, may I ask what the rough proportions are of these topping ingredients in your recipe? And which nuts do you find taste best? ← Don't actually measure any of this but if I were to make a wild guess here perhaps: 2-3 Tbsp sugar 1 tsp cinnamon 3 Tbsp butter 1 Cup cornflakes a handful of either pecans or walnuts, chopped but not too finely ... Process roughly to distribute the ingredients evenly and top the noodle kugel ... do not weigh yourself after consuming said kugel because it will take all pleasure out of the "fressing" and noshing!
  15. Vegetable beef soup Pear, tangerine, and walnut salad, raspberry vinaigrette smoked mackerel (husband found this in a cryovac container and had to buy it ...) Turkey breast with a bourbon-brown sugar glaze potato kugel fresh asparagus challah & wine nectarine-plum openface tart Shabbat shalom, everyone!!

  21. Just came back from Asheville food visit ... a bit of advice, if I might: Zambra was fabulous! Spanish and Moroccan-inspired food and decor ... Tapas made with creativity and delightful array of great tastes in all of the dishes I ordered ... would go again in a shot! Razaz is equally inspired and delightfully Mediterranean .. merguez lamb sausages in a port wine reduction ... bought the olive oil, OlivaVerde, at the shop connected to the restaurant ... Yes, as well, to Tupelo Honey Cafe for a fabulously inventive breakfast which lasted for me all day until dinner ... cornmeal-crusted, cheddary grits cakes with a fiery red hot sauce and cold sour cream ... terrific! Grove Park Inn? Went with high expectations .. but rather disappointed ... duck was possibly microwaved after being cooked and frozen .. came to the table cold ... returned to the kitchen, chef came out to apologize .... with all of the innovative and distinctive food now being offered in Asheville today, I would look elsewhere before choosing the GPI again ... .. a shame really ...
