Just an FYI for those of you who did not know.

The #5 restaurant on the list is Rare in Vancouver.

It is owned and operated by Brian Fowke, who is Chef Fowke on eGullet.

He is very pleased at the result.

I told him to cool his jets as it was not the #5 best new restaurant in the WORLD, only Canada.

Y'all are just pissed that a BC restaurant got top spot.

The validity of En Route has been discussed ad infinitum in these fora. Here is the thread from 2005. Sound familiar?

I have no more or no less respect for the En Route awards than I do for any other awards. 100% integrity is impossible. They're a guide, and will not make up for a crappy restaurant. What the En Route awards will do is give a much needed boost of business to a new restaurant ... just ask Marc of Brasserie l'Ecole in Victoria.
