have reservation at GR at Claridges, as the one at RHR is under renovation. Heard mixed reviews about Claridges. Should I still go, or do you have other suggestions? Thanks.

Again, full agreement from me - often had a better meal here than at some 2 star places like The Square. The only thing that could pose a slight risk is that Mark Seargent wont be looking after the kitchen as he is on his honeymoon at the mo, but the guys in the kitchens are all so good that this is a rather benign risk.

Enjoy!

If a man makes a statement and a woman is not around to witness it, is he still wrong?

I am afraid I do not agree. We ate at Claridge's the day before the first series of Hell's Kitchen aired and in which Seargant was heavily involved. I think his guiding hand would have been welcome, on the night we dined, as we were served overcooked scallops. And frankly, cherry tomatoes being used in the amuse course and then two courses later, smacked of laziness. Highly average and at £65 a head for the tasting menu back then - it really shouldn't have been.

Point well made Bapi, there is always a risk, although I would say that I have eaten there a few times when Seargent has not been working and had excellent food. Shame RHR is closed for the summer, as you would not have had this issue C1628 - it also scuppers my plan to take the mrs there for our first wedding anniversary!
