Hi. Anyone know where to find a traditional Texas style fajita service? The kind where it comes on a hot iron plate still sizzling, with fresh tortillas and the trimmings?

Cheers!

I am pretty sure that the fajitas at Las Margaritas on West 4th are

served this way (though not sure if they qualify as being "Texas

style")...... perhaps give them a call (604-734-7117) to be sure... but it

does ring a bell.

Always take a good look at what you're about to eat. It's not so important to know what it is, but it's critical to know what it was. --Unknown

People still eat FAJITAS?

I haven't heard/thought of those in 15 years...I need to get out my Miami Vice suit, lose the socks and get me some Fajitas!

With that said, I find Mexican and more specifically, Tex-Mex poorly represented in Vancouver. I have taken to driving down to the Cantina in New Haven (Bellingham).

The absolute best spot for fajitas is Fajita Republic. It's quite a ways to go though. Puerto Vallarta in Old town to be exact. By the way Chef Fawke, I still love fajitas and no, I don't wear t-shirts with my sports coat  .

Yes, there is a wide world of people in the Southwestern U.S. that eat fajitas regularly. No place near Miami.

And they are quite tasty if done right (with the proper rub and properly marinated)!

Cheers!

Alot of people don't know that the once unheralded hanger steak makes for a great beef fajita!!

I think many places in Vancouver (at least the ones that serve fajitas still) don't serve them on "sizzling" cast iron skillets anymore, after a rather disturbing and nasty incident at a local eatery in the mid nineties that lead to a 60 year old woman exposing 2nd degree burns on her inner thighs at trial!!!

I sure miss the sizzle though!!

(from the fajitas!)

Ponchos at 1162 Denman Street has both Beef and Chicken Fajitas. As I remember they serve them sizzling and steaming as well. Quality wise I would rate the food as fair to good.

If you go there you need to try the Margaritas though, IMO they are excellent. After drinking many pitchers there I think I finally cracked the secret ingredient which I think is Lime-ade. Like Lemonade but with Limes you can buy frozen.

They have a Fajita Burrito there that I prefer over the regular Fajitas. They also have a Seafood Paella that is pretty good as well.
